A former model hanged himself after suffering years of crippling toothache, an inquest heard today.

Dorian Thomson, 41, who worked as a model and as an art director for a Japanese fashion company, suffered from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which causes increased elasticity in muscles and joint tissue.

But the court heard Mr Thomson, of north west London, suffered from toothache in every tooth for six years which he believed was triggered by a visit to the dentist, Westminster Coroner's Court heard.

I suppose he refused to have his teeth pulled out of fear his smiling photos would no longer make magazine covers. A genuine die-hard professional.

I can't believe no one could help him! He must have been in so much pain to feel so desperate. :(

Perhaps his ache problems started when he started griding his teeth from watching too many McGyver re-runs on every network back in a day.

Cobain's suicide stemmed from the pain caused by his back problems.

That's a shame. Reminds me of what cluster headaches can do to people.

As someone that deqls with a chronic and unrelenting medical problem, albeit it not serious or particularly debilitating (just extremely annoying), I know what's its like to feel like theres no hope of getting better.

I find this hard to believe. The guy was a model and art director, so sounds like he should have made enuf $ to have a good dentist.... and he had suffered a toothache in every tooth for 6 yrs that he tho't was triggered by a dentist? That's crazy.....

If he didn't want dentures, he could have had implants - very costly, but w/dentures, he wouldn't have lived w/pain...... strange story.

Hey, I only watch MacGyver once a day, 365 days a year. No problem here!

Amy's teeth problems were caused by her excessive drug and alcohol abuse, nothing else.

His back was in amazing shape to put that rifle between his toes, and lean up to pull the trigger so the bullet shot through his brain. :?

Mum and I have suffered those. Hers were so bad every moment felt like her head was being hit with a sledgehammer. She's have to crawl to the bathroom, it was so bad.
Mine weren't as bad, but they still make you want to do anything to end the pain. They are apparently the worst headaches out there, and one of the worst pains you can suffer from.

It does say he had extensive problems with his jaw and teeth. Its possible it couldn't be fixed. Remember, doctors can't cure everything. He was likely unlucky in the sense that no one knew what to do to help him.

I'm having a problem buying that story. In this day and age w/medical/dental technology and the good surgeons out there., no one has to suffer like that w/their teeth/jaw......

There was that one woman who's face was ripped off by a chimp and she now has a new face!

Right, and she cant go out in public because she actually looks like someone who had her face pulled off and reattached, is on a multitude of drugs for the rest of her life, many of which have a good chance of destroying her vital organs such as liver/kidneys etc. And let me tell you something about pain, 99 percent of the time the medical profession cant even diagnose it let alone cure it.

Sometimes people can be in pain and there is no medical explanation. It happens, although its rare.

And while that woman might have a 'new' face, she is still horribly disfigured, and IMO, doesn't look any better than she did before.

My doctor usually manages to make me feel better, although I have a few medical issues that haven't ever been diagnosed even though they've been going on for more than five years.

I think it happens more than we like to think. Most people want to think that your doctor has the treatment to fix you, but its not always the case.

From what I understood, she's due for more surgeries.... the poor gal will never really have her quality of life back, b/c of that idiot friend of her's..... anyway, I guess she was a poor comparison...

Yes, it is very rare that a person can have some kind of pain, which the doctors can't find a cause or cure for.... but teeth and jaw? Surgeons can reline/rebuild the jaw.

Some people are born w/bad teeth that always gives them trouble. I knew a couple of gals w/this problem and they had all of them puled and got dentures and then lived a pain free life after that......

Well, m/b the guy did have this problem, but find it odd that he couldn't find any relief from bad teeth & jaw......

When it comes to oral surgery, the best way is to go into the hospital and not the dentist chair. When my dentist told me I had 5 wisdom teeth and a cyst in my jaw that had to come out, he put me in the hospital, knocked me out and when I woke up, felt good ... except I didn't look to good - lol. My jaw was swollen & black & blue. My husband wouldn't take me any place b/c it looked like he hauled off and slugged me.....

In Portland Oregon there's OHSU (Oregon Health & Science University) where people can go for a physical, which takes all day and when they leave, OHSU knows what's wrong and right w/that person....

I don't remember what the problem was w/a friend, but she finally went there to get to the bottom of her problem and OHSU told her... that's where my daughter went for a straight month when she was diagnosed w/Leukemia 4 yrs ago and she came out of there cancer free........

There are some excellent doctors and hospitals out there.......

Kind of reminds me of early 90s porn star Savannah who killed herself after breaking her nose in a car wreck only 30 minutes earlier. As the story goes, she felt like the only thing she had going for her was her looks and after she broke her nose she had nothing left to live for. So instead of driving to a hospital to get fixed up, she drove home and shot herself. She was hot too. :(

Stomach pain, actually. It plagued him his whole life. In fact, the excuse he gave for why he originally started doing heroin was because it supposedly helped alleviate some of it.

^One of the numerous reasons I'm still skeptical of the official story on how he died. There is so much ridiculously suspicious stuff involved in that case that if there was no foul play involved, there are a lot of things that need to be answered.

While the drug companies would prefer you spend $40-$50 to relieve a single headache*, cluster headaches can be cured by 1 gram of psilocybin mushrooms.

    http://www.clusterbusters.com/index.html

*cluster headache suffers can get several headaches a day over a period of months or "episodes"

Good Lord .... in the early 80's I was always headachy - went to a chiropractor and he got rid of them and since then I rarely get a headache.... if I feel one coming on, I drink a glass of Gatorade and it goes away.....

Are cluster headaches the same as migraines? I know someone who suffers w/them and where would she get this mushroom?

The headaches are similar in nature and 'shrooms have been know to help with migraines too. One gram is just enough to get a small buzz, but nothing to worry about. College kids may be able to find them. Or you can grow your own. The web has several resources if you take that route.

Uh... He had a MASSIVE case of Scoliosis and bronchitis, (btw the Scoliosis was made worse by the odd way he played his guitar) and stomach ulcers (when he developed the ulcers he starting to fall into depression and started to increase his drug use. He once said the pain was so bad, heroin was the only thing keeping him from blowing his head off)

His body's pain drove him into serious drug use and depression. And then to suicide.

Yes, which is why he chose to pull the trigger with his TOES rather than get a smaller gun and point it at his temple, like most people.
