Of course, If Sinema decides to seek re-election as an Independent, she could siphon enough votes away from the Dem. Nominee to elect the GOP Nominee...
    Just saying...

EXCEPT they WOULDN'T have to be "even", Unless Sinema chose to Caucus with the GOP...
It would either be 51-49 or 50-49...
In each case, there would be no need for "power sharing" on committees...

Based on your theory, Manchin is a Republican as well.

Always possible, but it could easily work the other way... Not sure what D's would consider her over their actual nominee at this point...

Well, you have to keep in mind how repulsive the DP has become.
Ditto the RP -- hence the new "Independent" Senator.

What's my theory?? Did he register as an Independent as well?

Manchin is in a much trickier position, being in a true Red state, and the D's recognize that and will let him row his own oar...

They no longer have to put up with that in Arizona...

    True...
BUT, in a Close race, even 3% could be a significant siphon...
Considering that in 2018 her margin was only 2.4%...
    Just saying...

I'm with you on that... it was pretty obvious she was going to do something in this ballpark before 2024...

Here's the best article and summary on this decision, IMHO.

    SNIP
Perhaps leaving the party at this particular juncture is tacit acknowledgement that she has angered so many Democrats to the point she no longer feels she can win a primary – should she seeks reelection in 2024.

She doesn’t indicate whether she’ll seek the seat but either way she has calculated that ditching Democrats is her best political move.

Undoubtedly, she’s counting on independents and Republican support to retain her seat – whether those same Republicans who now profess their love for her would actually give her their spot is questionable at best.
    ENDSNIP

Also, remember that the D's didn't technically have 51 seats before this move, as both Bernie and King were I's (who actually ran and won as I's)

I mean, think about it, the dopes in GOP Senate circles aggressively campaigned for Walker just 'cause if Walker lost dems would or could dominate committees in the Senate.

IMO, there should be serious consideration to change in the GOP Senate leadership.

Nobody is going to argue with that, but remember that Walker was NOT remotely Mitch's candidate... this is the man you need to be targeting for your ire.. the man who said the GOP had a path to a 55 seat majority (10/20/22)

What I'm referring to is McConnell forcing a vote on Senate GOP leadership with complicit and idiotic agreement from other influential members of the GOP in the Senate one week after the 2022 midterm results in the Senate (and, of course, McConnell became the new leader of the GOP in the Senate) just to ensure committees in the Senate would be fair to the GOP because of a fifty-fifty Senate with a Walker win in the Georgia runoff?

McConnell is a shapeshifter and needs to go.
McConnell put all the GOP eggs in the Walker basket and lost while, surprise, surprise, McConnell is still the leader of the GOP in the Senate.

I don't disagree with that really long sentence (question?), but McConnell is the exact opposite of a "shapeshifter"... he called the vote because any delay might have been worse for his personal prospects, thus staying completely on brand...

I think the larger problem in that caucus is there is nobody else capable of gathering enough votes to truly oppose him, since the "top" people are mostly too ridiculous to consider. The only one I wouldn't laugh at would be Rubio, and he's just not enough of a flamethrower to take the top spot.....

Who would you put in instead?

One of the main reasons I left today’s Dem Party is bc of their obsession with race, sexuality & other externals instead of merit. America is the greatest country in world because it’s a meritocracy. If we become a society based on externals, America’s excellence will be history. - T. Gabbard

"Removing myself from the partisan structure — not only is it true to who I am and how I operate, I also think it'll provide a place of belonging for many folks across the state and the country, who also are tired of the partisanship." - K. Sinema

I left them much for the same reason as yourself but mostly for their constant attempts to buy their pet groups, (minorities, Gays, women) votes.

If she runs for the Senate again as an Independent it will draw votes away from the Democratic candidate which then might favor the Republican candidate.

Liz Cheney is no right wing moderate. She is a Neo-conservative just like her daddy Dick. She just hated Trump which is why she has been helping the Democrats take him down. I'm sure her daddy is very proud of her.
