Nope... Its a new construct.. The "rapture" came out of the tent revivals of the Depression era and the Dustbowl.. Poor, ignorant, desperate people were susceptible to believing anything.

Mainline Christian churches didn't teach such crapola.

Okay, whatever you say. It is only believers who will be raptured. I take we won't be seeing you then?

Same reason a DeLorean can drive back to the wild west, and a man can shoot spider webs from his wrists. It's a movie. It isn't even biblical or based on biblical writings. Somebody just thought it up.

It started with Millerism, the guy who said he had figured out exactly when the world would end, (In 1843, I think). People sold everything they had and went out to wait for Christ to come down. When he didn't, Miller said his calculations had been wrong and it would be the next year. When that didn't happen either he said it already HAD happened. We just hadn't noticed. This became an indeterminate time until The Rapture, and the basis for 7th Day Adventism (which later gave us the Waco Whackos)

Nothing, IMO, indicates just how much of a complete racket and utter con game religion really is. It is beyond my belief and understanding that people take this seriously.

Hmmmmm. "...raised in the church..." Okay, so you're saying you do not believe God. You believe the church in which you were "raised". Okay. Well, we all believe what we believe, don't we.
