Well as children mature into adulthood and receive more information they will start to make up their own minds regarding creationism also. Once they reach college age they should be fully independent an have the ability to sort out all the facts and reach their own conclusion. Teaching creationism in school is in no way going to distort from any of the scientific facts they will eventually be bombarded with. It actually will give them an insight into the philosophical perspective that is completely missing in public education.

Than why are you against it being brought back if parents are doing it through their elected representatives. It obviously is indicating there are many people in favor of it. Do you not agree that society should set the standards or are you clinging to a belief that only a select few should decide what is good for all children?

Texas can do as they like. Their students will be laughed at when they go to college though. Have you ever seen " Inherit the wind" ? If not you should watch it. Great movie on the scopes monkey trial.

So teach creationism in Sunday School.

Even the ancient Jewish sages knew that when scientific evidence comes out against scripture, science wins. Read Rambam.

Scripture is didactic literature......... Some Christians are too uneducated to get that concept.

The funny thing is, if the Loch Ness monster were real, it would in fact prove evolution, not disprove it.
If a creature could survive in a closed eco-system like the Loch, then it would have no need to evolve.

It's amazing how little nay sayers understand the things they scream about, evolution, global warming and others. The louder they are and the more they proclaim their expertise, the less they know.

So you are saying we should lie to our kids for the first 18 years because they will be 'bombarded with facts' later in life???
    How wrong can you get?
Why do you want the big Govt to teach religion?

Creationism is not based on science. It is not based on facts. It is not based on reason.

It is based on logical and informal fallacies that are easily dismissed by anyone with the slightest degree of critical thinking skills and knowledge of evolutionary theory.

Creationism does not belong in the science class room.

    Plain and simple.

Aside from the fact that this is old news, the problem is using government money to send kids to private religious schools to be taught this nonsense.

If the crazy parents want to send their kids to this crazy schools, let them pay the way.

The OP disaproves adoctrination in the inculture and the ignorance. That is what that teocratic schools do, like the Islamic schools, or better said, like the Talibans.

I want that schools teach students to think, and that they teach the reality not mythology.

LOL. That is the greatest nonsense ever.

Evolution is science. Creationism is theology, mythology, fantasy. Fantasy never should be taught in schools, except for some readings to entertain the students, and depending of the grade.

You can teach creationism in philosophy, in religion, or any similar thing, but never in science. And that schools teach creationism as science. That is teaching something that is wrong, so bringing the students to the ignorance.

i don't know how that works? some evolve, some don't. sharks and crocs haven't changed (save for size) since before the dinosaurs, but the dinos have come and gone (as birds).

There are Scientologist schools in the UK which teach that life began from an alien spaceship dropping a nuclear bomb in a volcano - how is this any stupider? So who are UK citizens to point fingers at what some fringe schools in the US teach? Not to mention that there are young earth creationists in the UK as well, though in smaller number.

There is one scholastic outpost of this bizarre American religious cult in Britain. To hold that up against criticism of an entire schooling region is to fail again.

Or what about Islamic private schooling in the UK? Many fundamentalist Muslims deny the theory of evolution as well.

If I recall, the Catholic Church doesn't promote or deny that evolution is true - however they've adopted the stance that you can believe in evolution without contradicting the Bible.
