As for agreements, Russia makes them in order to lull others into a false sense of security while they work behind the scenes to get what they want. This is what they did in Ukraine, making an agreement for a ceasefire in the Donbas after creating the "separatist movement" in the first place, and then worked to make it fail while they prepared the 2022 invasion behind the scenes, and now here we are. Now they want to force some new agreement on us to let them steal several oblasts from Ukraine -- oblasts that happen to give them land access to Crimea and a large portion of the Black Sea coast, including all of the Sea of Azov as well -- in addition to the previously stolen Crimea, after which they will simply undermine any such agreement once again while preparing for the next military move to take the rest of Ukraine, and probably Moldova as well. They know that as long as they can reach idiots in the west with their propaganda and buy friendly politicians such as Mike Johnson and Donald Trump to do their bidding, they can get away with anything short of launching a direct kinetic attack on a NATO member. They know they can play the long game to take all of Ukraine and probably start carving up NATO in the future as well, depending on how successful their ongoing efforts to break it up prove to be.

Not really. At least not until Russia has conquered all of Ukraine (and Moldova and possibly Kazakhstan) plus effectively ends partisan activities. The biggest danger for war is Ukraine gets sold down river to marry to appease Putler who would only take that as a sign of weakness to attack further. It would be a repeat of the appeasement policy of the late 1930s.

 

True....by conquering those other areas provides them with many more resources....bodies wise anyway....to toss at further opponents. Currently Putlerstan is burning through all the ethnic minorities in Siberia and Far East....which wasn't to heavily populated to begin with.
