In my local paper this week: "Maine mother sues school district over her teen’s gender transition Amber Lavigne, of Newcastle, Maine, said counselor encouraged her 13-year-old’s social gender transition without consulting her By DAVID SHARP The Associated Press,Updated April 10, 2023, 6:14 a.m. PORTLAND, Maine — A Maine woman is suing a school district whose counselor encouraged her teen’s social gender transition, providing a chest binder and using a new name and pronouns, without consulting parents. It’s the latest lawsuit to pit a parent’s right to supervise their children’s health and education against a minor’s right to privacy when confiding in a mental health professional. A similar lawsuit filed in California was working its way through the courts earlier this year. In Massachusetts, parents are suing a middle school for not telling them their two pre-teens were using different names and pronouns." Source: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/04...ol-district-over-her-teens-gender-transition/ (paywall) If her claim is accurate, I sincerely hope she receives a substantial financial award and that every school system employee involved in the clandestine attempt to convert her child is compelled to resign in disgrace.
I'm sure the folks that are fine with teachers grooming children into gender dysphoria are also fine with this: 'As a 3rd grade teacher, I often talk about Jesus with my students, they are so excited to hear about my faith. They point to the cross on wall and ask me about the resurrection. Some have gotten baptized in the sink, as long as they don’t tell their parents. It’s our secret.' https://twitter.com/CarpeDonktum/st...n^s1_&ref_url=https://instapundit.com/579563/
They don't care about actual grooming because that might force them to confront the behaviour of churches & religious institutions. Remember that the same Republican controlled legislature that expelled two elected black Democratic members for protesting didn't feel the need to expel a Republican despite multiple accusations of child abuse and a recording of him admitting to it. That guy got re-elected AFTER all this came out. The party of Roy Moore is only interested in using hatred of a tiny minority to rally it supporters. Protecting children is the marketing, not the product. Either they know it & don't care or aren't bright enough to work it out.
Worse these same non-humans are promoting child marriage https://www.losangelesblade.com/202...efends-child-marriage-after-trans-ban-passes/
You didn't read the thread. They explain further: 'I want you guys to understand something, I am NOT grooming these young apostles, THEY COME TO ME and I follow their questions back to it's source These kids feel something is not right inside them and I help them to understand that Jesus is what they are missing in their life.' You seem to have gotten the wrong idea.
Now that you're done going off on a tangential rant at Republicans.... Do you have any opinions on this mother's situation?
I think it's horrible what happened to this child, and this was a bad policy for the school to have and needs to stop, but I am very much against the use of payouts of money to "solve" problems in the society, to try to "right" wrongs.
No surprises there. Like I said, it isn't about children it is about politics. Targetting ethnic minorities & even gays is increasingly difficult so now its trans people. If that fails they may actually have to work out how to appeal to voters based on positive policies....or they will just lean into voter suppression, gerrymandering & election denial. Probably that one.
So which category are you in? Do you know this is purely political & not at all about kids or have you not worked that out yet? I know where my money lies.
Mate it is just that “distraction politics” is so rampant over there. Interesting to watch our ex PM Malcolm Turnbull calling Faix News “Angertainment” and I think he nailed it
Nah, I'm 100% correct. I make some pointed remarks about how little conservatives actually care about children and your 'gotcha' is to ask my opinion on....the mother. Not the child, the mother. If you were actively trying to make my point you could not have done a better job. So predictable. The mother will be fine. She will become a hero to people who define themselves by what they hate. She will have her legal bills paid by people who froth at the mouth when the see a schoolboy in a dress, but mumble 'high price of freedom' if that kid gets a bullet in the head from yet another mass shooter. I feel sad that the child has a parent more interested in law suits than loving her child for who they are.
i was going to say something sarcastic, but i'm sure that a teacher can find a more appropriate venue to hold her baptisms than the sink. the school counselor in the op? wadda they do? hand the new girl a sports bra and reserve a chair for her at the tranny table in the cafeteria?
Off topic. I was talking about Rupert (pauses to spit) Murdoch. WE have hated him far longer than you
Hat gets me is that they are up in arms about “drag shows” but not one word has been said about burlesque
You're the one that bought up someone's opinion of American politics in Australia and I responded to that and now you're telling me it's off....lol
Certainly a sticky situation going on here. Why did the child feel the need to hide her experience from her mother to begin with? Is there State laws in play from Maine regarding privacy when talking with a counselor? Here's a paragraph from the same story but not behind the paywall of the OP. ... Administrators at the Maine school add that confidentiality requirements have prevented them from responding to “a grossly inaccurate and one-sided story” that began circulating on social media. The superintendent didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment Thursday. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/maine-mom-school-wrong-hide-gender-transition-98413668
Meanwhile in Washington a ban on child marriage was just tabled (supposedly until 2024) in the Senate by Democrats after passing in the house unanimously. LINK: Minors can still get married in WA, though some want that to change | The Seattle Times
