We are a civilized country and we do not ban firearms because of the way they look, that is folly.

AK are widely used on farms and ranches for varmint control. Also if there were a total civil breakdown in my community I would much prefer an AK instead of a bolt action 30-06.

Oh I forgot you gun-grabbers use the made up BS term "Assault Weapon" to label any gun you don't like.

I wasn't able to participate on this thread yesterday but was closely following this mass knifing since I'm well familiar with this part of the OC, the people who live and work there, the Hispanic gangs in the OC and the Democrats AB-109, Prop-47 and Prop-57 that allowed this mass knifing attacks to happen.

Thr Garden Grove PD were quick to release information on the mass knifing and on the accused, an anchor baby who became a gang banger and also a member of "ME" (Mexican Mafia)

Law Enforcement didn't hold back and pointed fingers on who is really responsible for this mass knifing in the OC.
Democrats state legislatures and Gov. Jerry Brown and AB-109.
The Democrats and low information voters who passed Propositions 47 and Prop 57.

The gang banger criminal career began back in 2004.
Convicted for a felony and sentenced to prison and released from prison and sent back to the OC under AB-109.

From June of 2016 the gangbanger was arrested 14 times and released or not prosecuted and sent back to prison because of Prop-47 and Prop-57.

Jerry Brown, Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris and the Democrats in California state legislature and every low information voter who voted for Prop-47 or Prop-57 own this mass knifing.

I appreciate subtle irony, but a lot of people suffer from irony deficiency anemia. And some people, probably largely the same, are very literal-minded.

So let me warn those of them reading this: you do NOT repeat NOT want to be hit by a .223 round fired from a rifle of any type or at any distance.

People who love to argue about weapons and ammunition can carry on these arguments until doomsday, but some people believe that the odds of actually being hit at a distance between the cartridges, and their respective penetrating power when the target is behind cover (like vegetation) are different. Judging these arguments is above my pay grade.

The most important thing is to make sure you have a semi-automatic long-barrel weapon with a good magazine capacity and sufficient ammo, and that everyone who might use it has had a few trips to the rifle range to get used to recoil, noise, carrying out rapid magazine changes, etc. (I visited a shooting range near Pasadena California about twenty years ago, and was surprised to see that a majority of the people there were Asian. I didn't know how to ask, so I didn't, but I wondered whether or not this group had just spontaneously developed an interest in target shooting and/or hunting, or -- given that the Chinese are periodically subject to pogroms in those countries where they dominate the economy but are an ethnic minority -- they were just taking out some insurance against angry mobs of white supremacists bent on getting a free TV.)

But in a situation of social chaos and the breakdown of law and order, when the targets to be engaged -- say, reparations-seekers-- are densely packed, approaching at under 250 meters, and not wearing flak vests, it probably makes no odds. Then the question will be, for shooters with little experience and possibly of fairly slight build -- ie your wife -- , which cartridge will allow them the maximum number of rapid trigger-pulls without their weapon lifting off target, the target not being a paper bull's eye but a rank of human bodies. The weight of the weapon and barrel-length are probably factors here as well. ( Oh yes, and of course the desire to exercise that commendable American restraint when applying force against our enemies. A wonderful observation which I'm going to steal and use myself.)

I am not a gun owner or a member of the NRA, trying to refute someone simply because of a group to which they belong is intellectually lazy on it's face and laughable when they don't fit the bill.

Apparently you're totally unfamiliar with Swiss gun laws as your statement above is oblivious to the reality their gun laws. And for me being an NRA type, I've not been a member of the NRA in about 25+ years as they were to willing to concede on various laws. The NRA is WAY to liberal for me when it comes to 2A!

The Swiss Have Liberal Gun Laws, Too

Ah, you want more pictures of pretty girls? Okay, maybe you really are an Australian male...

Or is it the guns you're getting off on? (Yes, I know most of them are not guns, they're rifles.)

Now if it's the latter, let me tell you: Australia adopted the SA80 as its standard infantry weapon, which is a 'bullpup' design. All those
pretty girls with rifles are carrying SA80s. But if I put up a post with lots of pictures of the SA80, with its peculiar arrangement of the action
behind the trigger group, which allows for a compact design but a fairly long barrel, I am afraid I would set off one of those tedious endless
arguments among the gun nuts on this forum (not confined to rightwingers, either), and I want to spare us that.

Amazing. You guys have been touting the Heller decision for more than a decade as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Now you sit here wallowing in self pity because you can't buy a select fire rifle at your local 711.

Nor does it state what you can own. If the SCOTUS ruled that musketry was all you could own, they would be correct in their decision.

No they would not be correct.

The 2A protects the rights of people having the same weapons as does its government.
