Manchin Vs. Trump, who would you vote for

While I'm all but certain he wouldn't and won't be running, I'm just curious to see the results.

In 2024, if the election was Donald Trump Vs. Joe Manchin, who would you vote for?

 

Who does your pronoun refer to in your first sentence?

 

I voted for Trump --twice-- but today, this moment, if it were between Trump and Joe Manchin, I'd probably vote for Manchin.

I haven't voted for any Democrat presidential candidate in my life, but I've got growing admiration for what Manchin says and does. Besides, he reminds me of what Democrats were like before they turned into America-hating, 'woke' radicals who pushed lifelong dependency on welfare programs.

For me, Trump was always the "lesser of two evils", but still vastly better than either Hillary or Geriatric Joe....

 

I might consider Joe over Trump.

 

I see what you mean. I was speaking about Manchin but I can see how it might sound like it was Trump as well.

 

That is exactly what appeals to me about him as well. If he entered the race, he'd have my vote before he could even utter the first word of a campaign speech.

A Manchin/Gabbard or Manchin/Sinema ticket would be wonderful. I'd also vote for Gabbard for president as well.

 

The rule is the pronoun is for the closest noun before it which is why I didn't know. Thanks for clearing that up.

I didn't do the poll as I don't know anything about Manchin. However, I would vote for every eligible American citizen who is not a <whatever you want to call them - they whine to the mobs - but you know who I mean> that can focus for longer than 5 minutes, isn't paranoid about anybody smarter than he or she is, and is not a traitor to our country and is potty trained over Trump.

P.S. The potty training is negotiable.

 

I voted for one Jimmy Carter and have become a wise old man over the next 40+ years. Never again will I vote for a Dem if I can help it. So as much as I’d hate to I’d vote for Da Trumpsta

Manchin. I mean, he's the best example of a DINO ever, but he's not as much of a monster as Trump. He might be more republican than democrat in policy positions, but I'm sure decorum would be better.

 

Manchin is 74. He's a little old for my liking. As well as Trump or Biden

I'd go with Manchin unless there was sine third party conservative who had a chance.

 

Manchin is the Democrats designated obstructionist, the excuse the Democrats use, so can't pass anything worthwhile.

I don't vote but if I were to change my mind I would vote for Manchin. I'm virtually certain I won't change my mind before 2024. Voting fixes nothing.

 

What is exactly the point of this fictional run-off?

To my knowledge, Manchin has not made any overtures of a possible 2024 run for POTUS, nor do I think he could generate significant momentum in that direction unless he switched parties.

If what you are trying to do is gauge if any other candidate would draw Orange minions away from him, I think it is way too early to tell. Almost all of the other Repub contenders are deviations on the Orange factor.

 

You're probably more right than wrong. I'm still a registered Democrat and I'd vote for him in a heartbeat over the progressives and definitely over a Trump or Trump-clone. But his success nationally would depend on how many moderates there still are in the Democratic party. If you're a Democratic voter out there whose biggest concern is something like trans issues, you're probably not voting for Joe Manchin.

But it's all moot as there's no reason at all to think he would run. I just made this poll because I was interested to see the results between a moderate Democrat and Trump.

 

I understand, but of course, you might want to provide what you mean by "moderate" and "progressive". If by progressive you are referring to Sanders and Warren, I agree. Those in the Squad, like AOC and Pressley, while technically progressive, aren't yet at a level beyond making noise, for the most part.

I have a hard time seeing Manchin as a moderate, same with Sinema. There's just a bit too much theater in their objections. But overall, I just don't think the traditional definition of a moderate could even exist in this current environment. I'd rather look for pragmatism and forethought. That more than anything seems to be lacking in our modern politics.

You better think about that claim.

We "boomers" created the world you enjoy. GPS, the internet, cell phones, computers, clean air and clean water, plenty of food, high quality medical care. We went to the moon and designed the shuttle. We paved the way for all those satellites that make your electronic centered life possible.

Despite the attempts of some to ruin it, the world is far better than it was in 1960.

Please do consider voting, @fmw , even though most of the time I will concede that, as you say, "voting fixes nothing" -- but, more often, voting can produce results that control the damage to our country, if, at least, we install "the lesser of two evils" in office.

I know it's a hell of miserable situation, but it's mostly been that way all of my long, adult life. And it's made worse by the fact that we Americans have grown SO far apart that whatever pleases one faction is like sheer torture to another. But do consider voting, if only because we can say for certain that NOT 'voting fixes nothing'.

 

Trump all the way... His term was the first time during my short lifetime that I felt like I was "getting ahead" as a working class citizen.

 

Manchin. Obviously.

Manchin is so moderate he could be either R, D, or IND, while Trump is so divisive, dishonest and corrupt that he should be in prison. There is no comparison.

We need people like Manchin, and I don't care which party they come from.
