It's true for short term trading only, buying dips and averaging down (diversified investments, not individual stocks) is a viable and profitable long term investment strategy.

China wants to hurt Trump. As usual, the American left sides with one of our enemies.

Nobody wins a trade war, but that's still better than the old status quo where America was the only loser.

Voters don't care what the market was a year ago - they see that today they lost $10,000 of their retirement money and Trump's diarrhea of the mouth was the cause. Voters are fickle that way. Welcome to politics.

No, it's just you saying another stupid thing in defense of Trump. I believe you would follow Trump if he walked over a cliff. Luckily, it's a shrinking number of dimwits that still worship the Orange Messiah.

Yes, buying shares of a low-cost S&P 500 index fund at regular intervals is probably the best way to go for most investors.

    Don't worry!

The Republicans can simply remove Social Security and Medicare payments entirely, and all will be better. Kinda.

Until the new tax cuts and the new wars from the Neo-Nazis, uh, I mean, the Neo-cons like our new Bolton hack!

Taxes and spending are too high.
What would you like to cut?

Obama, Clinton and Kerry liked war every bit as much. They are part of the neocon scourge.

BTW, your last sentence is an incomplete sentence.

Stock pricees have litte connection to the economies of any nation. True price discovery was killed many years ago by the central banks

    Dang...Trump is one stupid moron.

Trump is not starting a trade war. China started it. Trump just responded.

    Liberals don't understand economics.

Well some perhaps. Those who don't have a clue.

On the other hand, a 6,000 point increase in the DJIA since Trump was elected is sweet to those who do have a clue. That's why the triggered aren't paid much attention to.

Market moves are often irrational. The market gains after Trump's election were likely due to Trump fans jumping back in, and hope from the change in leadership in DC.

Now, that the reality sinks in and the novelty of the new is gone, the market is becoming tepid. Note that not even the tax cuts could create much positive market movement, of course, the anticipation of them was mostly already priced in since the election.

BTW: if you think that the 6,000 point gain since the trump election is "sweet", tread carefully. This gain could be lost as quickly as it appeared, if the markets really get spooked by a trade war. If that happens, watch consumers and businesses re-tighten their purse strings and watch the "great" Trump economy disintegrate.
