I used a Jeff Foxworthy joke as an example of play on words. I am asking if you would explain why you think the Putin picture was funny in hopes of understanding how you interpret it. Would you please?
I also wouldn't characterize that as a cartoon. Animation, drawings, comics... I'm not arguing or criticizing in this conversation at all. I really would like to discuss how we view things and how our understanding of things differs and why.
Is cup Russian? Putin and putting are pronounced very different here. That is maybe the confusion. To me it makes no sense but if Putin and putting sound similar elsewhere, the understanding changes. American citizens really don't have much to say about Russia and Syria except that we are vehemently opposed to refugees being brought here.
I'm really just exploring cultural differences in humor. What different people find funny and why. - - - Updated - - - Giggity, what? What made you presume that?
I like the Special Operations memes. If you have instagram, I would follow Militarybadassary. Hilarious memes. - - - Updated - - - Stewie does many Putin jokes of the exact nature.
Quagmire is definitely my favorite. I have great appreciation for Southpark. I think it is brilliant and expediently relevant. It is an equal opportunity offender and nobody is off limits.
Have you ever seen the behind the scenes special on how the shows are produced? They put them together start to finish in less than a week. The amazing expediency keeps the subject matter VERY relevant. It presents that weeks happenings. Southpark calls us all out. It really is brilliant parody of American culture.
I didn't see that but I knew about it. Did you see how quickly they put this week's episode together???? craziness! http://www.avclub.com/article/south-park-was-forced-re-write-tonights-episode-af-245669
I actually would too call it brilliant. They are right about SO many things. Over the course of a couple decades.
I have a friend who is an EMT always posting memes I usually don't get. I don't get my teens memes. I definitely get Walking Dead memes
I don't get walking dead memes I never saw it. There are professional 'meme'ers. One is named the big fat jewish. millions of followers and his only job it to post memes. Girl With No Job is another famous memers of the millennials.
Their dedication to multiple seasons to combat political correctness is exactly what this country needs. It's brilliant in my mind.
It is brilliant satire. It is vulgar, crude, politically incorrect, and frequently offensive and obscene. But it is brilliant. It highlights what is funny, hypocritical, illogical, dangerous, ignorant, stupid, unjust, etc...about US people and culture. It makes us laugh at ourselves and look at ourselves. It breaks away at previously taboo topics opening up necessary dialogue. It has a huge amount of substance.
It is much more....stereotypes, religion, culture, class, morality, media, traditions, gender, generation, social groups, etc...
