I know you all hate CHIRIST and don't believe in him. But guess what? you're science has been debunked, you have no proof God is fake and our imagination. CHRISTMAS is about the birth of Jesus. he was born, who cares what exact date or what month. doesn't matter. They didn't have Birth certificate file cabinets in caves. Christmas is a religious holiday. If you are a pesky atheist, you should not gift, you should not celebrate it. You should stay home and watch dancing with the stars. You have ABSOLUTELY no REASON to celebrate it, because you don't believe in Christ or in GOD or the supernatural like Santa Claus.

I wish you a merry CHRISTMAS, not a HOLIDAY. It's not a holiday without religion. Holiday means HOLY DAY. Atheists by logic should hate the holidays and not do anything. just ignore it.

    Merry Christmas all!

I thought God wrote the bible, why would he need to keep records to know when someone was born.... are you saying the bible is not Gods words?

if they can't get something as simple as the birth date right, what else do they have wrong?

and of course have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year too, or CRISTmas if that is what you will be celebrating....

or happy feast of the circumcision if you prefer that to New Years (btw, they got that date wrong as well if they got the birthdate wrong)

Disappointing to me is that just yesterday I was on another thread explaining that "Merry Christmas" was an expression of goodwill and without malice. Boy am I red faced!!

    Reported for blasphemy !
Why you think Romans had a census and the family had to be register in Bethlehem and not in Nazareth ?

Besides that you are sounding a little very hysteric: could it be you should start to go yourselve to the manger? The Lord and his family say "welcome" to everyone with a pure lovefull heart and they don't say "your are not welcome" to anyone else who needs the soon newborn child in the love of god.

Well, it goes to show there are always exceptions. Thanks, but I can't put my trust in something I don't believe in.

thank you. Have a good one professor.

thats good and all, but until we turn over Jesus real Birth Certificate to the Atheits we have no way to prove it. They win that battle. There is no BC and no specific date, even if the Romans registered newborns. Might as well be hidden in a wooden cave cabinet.

For starters Romans never did censuses ... and yes this is a proven fact , no census decree at all .

What can I tell you? There is no historic evidence or document to prove me or you wrong. So where do we go from here? How about some faith?

Thing is that Romans kept detailed documents about freaking everything , we even know what officials wrote in their mails and there is NO decree asking for a census in Samaria & Judea plus Romans had a taxation system that makes censuses a waste of time.

Also you got one thing wrong in your OP : we do not hate something that doesn't exist

Jesus does not exist anymore, you're right. He died in the cross to save your soul. But he will be back and you will repent and ask him for forgiveness. Now go have your happy Christmas with your family and pretend not to believe in his birth and the historic scrolls that make up the bible. Real documents, with real facts and real history. Look up faith in the dictionary because you're gonna need it to prove scientific theories to me.

Wow! I don't know if I should hit the "likes" tab or not. I am gonna have to think about for a while. OK.. so the answer is I love it. Here we have one of the Atheists admitting that he is both "evil" and "hateful". Love it, Love it, Love it.

I can celebrate lots of things which I do not think happened. In Sweden, we have a handful of pagan rituals too, none of which I believe are based in reality, and I celebrate them nonetheless.

Christmas is defined to be a commemoration of the birth of Jesus, and while I don't believe all the stories around Jesus (and am unconvinced on some details about his existence, but I believe he probably existed), I certainly haven't forgotten him, which is everything required for a commemoration, or celebration for that matter.

The word holiday does indeed come from the words "holy day", but in modern English, holiday is defined as, and I quote: "an extended period of leisure and recreation, especially one spent away from home or in travelling.", and that I certainly will have.

Merry Christmas, holidays, Solstice and all that.

Nobody can hate someone they don't believe in. As it happens, I do believe Jesus existed, though obviously not that he was divine. I don't hate anyone though.

My science hasn't been debunked. My science involves how you're reading this message half-way around the world and has nothing to do with gods at all. I'm aware of evidence challenging the beliefs of various religions, especially on the specifics, and lack of evidence (often happily acknowledged as a call for faith) supporting them. In the grand scheme of things though, I don't really care. What people actually do about their beliefs is so much more important.

I don't see why I shouldn't give gifts or celebrate at Christmas just because I don't believe in God or Jesus. I can still appreciate the principles behind the celebration (some of which predate Christmas anyway) and it's become as much a cultural as a religious event (whether you approve of that or not). To put it bluntly, it's none of your business what I choose to do on December 25th anyway.

I'm more than happy to wish you a Merry Christmas though. I hope the love and joy of the season thaws your cold heart a little and allows you to develop a little more respect for people who happen to hold different beliefs to you.

I'm sorry Swensson, but if you celebrate something you don't think happened, then you shouldn't celebrate it. That makes you stupid.

I celebrated Thanksgiving because I Love the Pilgrims story and the Mayflower stories as well as the indians. Thanking the indians for helping them during the harvest. And I actually went to a CHristian THanksgiving party and discussed the meaning of thanksgiving, nothing to do with christianity. Thanksgiving is not in the bible, but they said it was to thank Jesus and God. I disagreed. For me thanksgiving is to thanks those who have helped you, feed you and supported you. Yes you thank God, but you also invite people to thank them, reason it's called Thanks giving. Thanks for giving me what I needed or I would have died. So Thanksgiving is an American tradition based on the story. does not come from the bible, the last supper was not a thanksgiving event.

Anyway, you must have principles dont you? if you celebrate someone or something you don't think it's real, then it shows you are just a follower. Have some guts and believe in what you celebrate. I believe in Jesus, God and Even Santa Claus. Some people celebrate saints. whatever, just do it because you believe and have faith in it, not because everyone else is doing it.

An atheist celebrating Christmas is like a dog celebrating a Cat Holiday.

I don't think they "hate" Christ, they just don't believe in him or any religion. Secondly your views are very uncharitable for a supposed Christian; who are you to tell them what they can and cannot participate in? You don't speak for all Christianity, so try not to be so harsh; you always attract more fly's with honey then vinegar.

    How?

But that is not what happened. It was the native people who brought most of the food. They taught the Pilgrims how to cultivate the land and the Pilgrims were a failure at it.

    Well not directly.

Not completely true. The Pilgrims were celebrating the Biblical holiday of Sukkot as a harvest festival of thanksgiving to God for the food of the earth. so....

    Which most people do

And while you are wrong about almost everything that has to do with Thanksgiving you still celebrate....geez...

You think Santa Claus is real?

I do and that is why I don't celebrate Christmas.

Except our culture has secularized a lot of the holiday....

Okay you silly little Christian Soldier....enough is enough, and though I am willing to let you make a fool out of yourself all day, there comes a time when the annoyance must be stopped. I can celebrate whatever I want, whenever I want, and pretending your Christ gets to be the reason for the Solstice, Yule, Saturnia, or simply making kids smile is absolutely fine for you and I do not wish to stop it...nor should you for me.
I will not go into the details of how it was decided this should be the birthday of Jesus, as it seems from you OP that you have at least some idea. That you are trying to lay claim to everyone else's holiday is certainly not in the spirit of celebrating, and being an A$$ does little to do anything but ruin the whole idea.

Still....I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy Birthday to your Christ.....sometime in April or June.
