In my humble opinion, the large influx of immigrants from poorer countries displacing white people from jobs and housing, and leading to a decline in living standards, as well as unemployment.

Fewer Whites, Huge Increase in Hispanics
Because of decreasing standards of living, white people are having fewer children because they feel they cannot afford to start families. But poverty, apparently, does not stop hispanics from churning out babies. Between 2000 and 2010, the Hispanic population grew by 15,171,776, accounting for 56 percent of the overall overall growth in the USA. There were 50,477,594 Hispanics as of April 1, 2010. The 10-year growth rate for Hispanics was 43 percent, compared to less than 5 percent for non-Hispanics. There are 17,130,891 Hispanic children, accounting for 23.1 percent of the people in the USA under 18 years of age. Between 2000 to 2010, the number of Hispanic children grew by 4.8 million while the number of non-Hispanic White children shrank by 4.3 million. The demographics of children today are generally a very accurate reflection of what the future population will be. The fertility rate for women of Hispanic origin was 97.5 live births per 1,000 women aged 15-44 years, which is 50 percent higher than the rate for non-Hispanic women. For women of Mexican origin the rate was 112.3 per 1,000. (National Center for Health Statistics, most recent statistics collected in 1981)

    Crime
Illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. For the children of illegal immigrants born in the US, the crime rate is even higher.

    Gun Control
The biggest threat to the right to own guns is from the presence of Hispanics. Most violent crimes involving guns are committed by this group.

    Threat to Civil Liberties
"Washington D.C's most dangerous neigborhood is only about a mile from the Supreme Court. On any given night, armed police roam the streets in the northeast part of the city in search of guns and drugs. So routine are these patrols that black men sitting on stoops or standing on corners will reflixively lift their T-shirts when the police approach, to show they have no pistol tucked into their waitbands. Often the police frisk them anyway, and search their cars as well. You might almost forget, in light of these encounters, that the fourth amendment to the constitution establishes the right of the American people to be 'secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures. America's search for safety is relentlessly eroding the precious protections in the Bill of Rights."

    Legal Costs
Taxpayers end up paying for court fees when the victims of domestic violence are unable to pay because of low incomes. Taxpayers also pay for a public defense lawyer when the accused are unable to afford their own legal defence.

    Drugs and Terrorism
During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth., heroin and marijuana, crossed into the U. S from the Southern border. Homeland Security Report: http://tinyurl.com/t9sht

$11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year. http://tinyurl.com/zob77

$2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens. www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html

$2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens. http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html

    Educating Children of Immigrants
Each year $12 Billion dollars is spent on primary and secondary school education for children illegally residing in the US, and nearly all of them are unable to speak english. An additional $17 Billion dollars per year is spent on education for the American-born children of illegal aliens.
The U.S. Census Bureau just released 2008 figures showing the national average total per-pupil funding from all revenue sources was $12,028. Although estimates of the number of school-age children of illegal immigrants don’t separate those attending public vs. private schools, it’s reasonable to assume that nearly all attend public schools since most come from lower-income families. Therefore, if one multiplies $12,028 by the roughly 3.7 million students with illegal-immigrant parents, then one gets a national total funding cost of $44.5 billion.

In California, total funding per pupil from all state, federal and local revenue sources was $11,649. With roughly 923,000 students in the state with illegal-immigrant parents, these students represented a total cost of nearly $10.8 billion out of a total 2008 k-12 education budget of $72 billion. These totals rely on average per-pupil funding numbers.

The children of immigrants who go to college divert the state-funded scholarships away from the children of people who were born in this country. The states (especially California) give scholarships to “economically disadvantaged students”. The immigrant parents, who usually live in poverty, pay very little taxes into the system because of their low incomes. Often they have no tax history (because they are illegally working in this country) and the employer never witheld any taxes from their paycheck. California once provided its residents with free college tuition to its state universities, but today can no longer afford to do so. Going to college is now becoming increasingly unaffordable to many of California's residents.
In several states university applicants are increasingly being rejected, and the entry requirements have been increased because of the increased number of college applicants. Many students with lower grade point averages are unable to get accepted into a school. Even students with good grade point averages are finding that is not possible to get accepted into a college near their parent’s house. This means they are unable to save money by living with their parents, even though the cost of living at college has grown increasingly unaffordable. Many state universities are actually raising their tuition to give scholarships to economically disadvantaged children- whether they were born in this country or not!

Even if the children of immigrants did not get any state scholarships, state universities are heavily subsidized by the state, which means that the cost of tuition only reflects a portion of the actual cost of educating the student.

There was one case in which a boy had grown up in California all his life. Two years before he became an adult, both his parents left for new jobs in New York state. The boy stayed with his grandmother in California to continue school, only leaving once to briefly visit his parents in New York. When it came time to apply to college, the boy found out that he was not elligable for in-state tuition, since neither of his parents lived in California. (Neither was he elligible for tuition in New York, since his parents had only worked there for two years and the boy had not attended high school there) Despite his parents paying taxes into the state system, the boy was unable to get in-state tuition.

Interestingly children of undocumented migrant farm workers are elligible for in-state tuition in California, whether or not they have worked more than six months in the state!

Illegals Demand Taxpayers pay for Free College
From the San Francisco Examiner: A group of eight illegal immigrants have been arrested by Atlanta police after they blocked a downtown street to protest their lack of access to higher education. The group, made up mostly of students, sat in the middle of a street near the Georgia Capitol for more than an hour Tuesday before they were handcuffed and placed in a police van. Hundreds of supporters lined the sidewalks and cheered when they were led away. The group says immigration is a civil rights issue and protesters met with former activists before the demonstration to get help with their strategy. Police re-routed traffic before arresting the students and charging them with obstructing traffic. Some of them were chanting through tears while others were smiling as they were put into the van.

    Bankrupting Hospitals
In the USA, all the illegal immigrants (and their many children who live in poverty) are bankrupting hospitals. Hospitals must accept any person who requires emergency treatment, whether they have the ability to pay or not. Hospitals which are not willing to treat the poor for free are not elligible to bill the government Medicare program for any services. Hospitals have to pass on the increased costs from the emergency departments (which almost always are costly and unprofitable) to people who do have the ability to pay. This is one of the main reasons that medical costs are so high. The overburdened hospitals often do not have the resources to properly take care of all the people who cannot pay. When something goes wrong, the hospitals get sued for millions of dollars, or even are forced to shut down by government health regulators for not providing adequate care.

In crowded cities with many poor immigrants, there are long lines to get into the emergency rooms at the hospitals, the waiting rooms are crowded, and it is not uncommon for people to have to wait in lines which stetch outside the hospital. The waiting time is often hours. There have been countless instances of people dying will waiting for treatment. In Los Angeles, California, ambulances are often turned away from overburdened hospitals, often having to drive their patients to other hospitals, which can be up to 2 hours away. In Los Angeles, there are only two hospitals which are not facing impending bankruptcy!

When a hospital is forced to close down, it does not solve the problem. All the non-paying patients it formerly had to take care of have to drive farther to hospitals in more affluent areas. This can result in cascading failure, where the increased burden from one hospital shutting down creates an unsustainable burden on other nearby hospitals, which ultimately results in a chain of hospital closures. In lower income areas, there are often not any nearby hospitals left which accept Medicare.

You might ask why hospitals just stop accepting Medicare so they do not have to treat the poor for free.

In the USA, workers are taxed to pay for the Medicare system. The idea is that they are taxes while they are in their younger working years to help pay for their own medical expenses when they get older. If you want to get less expensive treatment at a hospital which does not have to treat the poor, you will not be getting any of your Medicare tax money back! You will have to pay the full ammount of the bill, and Medicare will not reimburse you or the hospital for any portion, despite the fact that you were taxed all of your working life.

    How much are the Taxes?
Employers must withold 1.45% of the salaries of their workers, with the employer also paying an additional matching 1.45% of salaries paid. A self-employed individual must pay the entire 2.9% tax on self employed net earnings. Because of of the increasing burden on hospitals, the tax rate will soon be increased to 3.8% for higher incomes.

Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1985, hospitals are obligated to treat the uninsured without reimbursement.

Government imposes viciously stiff fines and penalties on any physician and any hospital refusing to treat any patient that a zealous prosecutor deems an emergency patient, even though the hospital or physician screened and declared the patient's illness or injury non-emergency. But government pays neither hospital nor physician for treatments. In addition to the fiscal attack on medical facilities and personnel, EMTALA is a handy truncheon with which to pummel politically unpopular physicians by falsely accusing them of violating EMTALA."

In 2010, the direct cost to taxpayers to provide free emergency health care for more than 52,000 illegal aliens in the state of Massachusetts alone was $35.7 million. Note that this is only the direct cost; the hospitals subsidize their emergency departments through charity or higher costs to other patients.

84 California hospitals are closing their doors as a direct result of the rising number of illegal aliens and their non-reimbursed tax on the system. Between 1993 and 2003, 60 California hospitals closed because half their services became unpaid. Another 24 California hospitals are on the verge of closure.

The Texas Hospital Association has estimated that the annual cost to hospitals of providing medical treatment to illegal immigrants, who are either unable or unwilling to pay, was nearly $400 million a year, of which the hospitals only get compensated about $100 million through the emergency Medicaid program paid for by the state.

The "Children with Special Health Care Needs" program is a supplemental health care program designed to help indigent children with extraordinary or chronic health care problems that are too expensive to treat in traditional Medicaid. Although the program does not distinguish between legal residents and illegal residents, most of the children enroled in the program are not citizens. In December of 2005, there were 1,452 non-citizens in the program, which constituted 68.8 % of all clients enrolled. 78.9% of the medical payments are spent on these non-citizens.

The USA is only beginning to see the medical costs from illegal immigrants, most of whom came as younger adults. As these people age, they will place an increasing burden on hospitals and the government, which pays for elderly care facillities. Note that the legal-born children of illegal immigrants, who do not show up in the statistics, will be far more expensive to take care of than their parents.

    A case study
Cristobal Silverio emigrated illegally from Mexico to Stockton, Calif., in 1997 to work as a fruit picker. He brought with him his wife, Felipa, and three children, 19, 12 and 8 - all illegals. When Felipa gave birth to her fourth child, daughter Flor, the family had what is referred to as an "anchor baby" - an American citizen by birth who provided the entire Silverio clan a ticket to remain in the U.S. permanently. But Flor was born premature, spent three months in the neonatal incubator and cost the San Joaquin Hospital more than $300,000. Meanwhile, oldest daughter Lourdes married an illegal alien gave birth to a daughter, too. Her name is Esmeralda. And Felipa had yet another child, Cristian. The two Silverio anchor babies generate $1,000 per month in public welfare funding for the family. Flor gets $600 a month for asthma. Healthy Cristian gets $400. While the Silverios earned $18,000 last year picking fruit, they picked up another $12,000 for their two "anchor babies."

    Bringing Disease
Many illegal aliens harbor fatal diseases that American medicine fought and vanquished long ago, such as drug-resistant tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, plague, polio, dengue, and Chagas disease."

A report from the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons describes that the spread of diseases brought into the country. Tuberculosis had largely disappeared from America, thanks to excellent hygiene and powerful modern drugs such as isoniazid and rifampin," says the report. "TB's swift, deadly return now is lethal for about 60 percent of those infected because of new Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis. Until recently MDR-TB was endemic to Mexico. This Mycobacterium tuberculosis is resistant to at least two major anti-tubercular drugs. Ordinary TB usually is cured in six months with four drugs that cost about $2,000. MDR-TB takes 24 months with many expensive drugs that cost around $250,000 with toxic side effects. Each illegal with MDR-TB coughs and infects 10 to 30 people, who will not show symptoms immediately. Latent disease explodes later. TB was virtually absent in Virginia until in 2002, when it spiked a 17 percent increase, but Prince William County, just south of Washington, D.C., had a much larger rise of 188 percent. Public health officials blamed immigrants. In 2001 the Indiana School of Medicine studied an outbreak of MDR-TB, and traced it to Mexican illegal aliens. The Queens, New York, health department attributed 81 percent of new TB cases in 2001 to immigrants. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ascribed 42 percent of all new TB cases to 'foreign born' people who have up to eight times higher incidences apparently, 66 percent of all TB cases coming to America originate in Mexico, the Philippines and Vietnam." Chagas disease, also called American trypanosomiasis or "kissing bug disease," is transmitted by the reduviid bug, which prefers to bite the lips and face. The protozoan parasite that it carries, Trypanosoma cruzi, infects 18 million people annually in Latin America and causes 50,000 deaths. The disease also infiltrates America's blood supply. Chagas affects blood transfusions and transplanted organs. No cure exists. Hundreds of blood recipients may be unknowingly infected. Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, was so rare in America that in 40 years only 900 people were afflicted. Suddenly, in the past three years America has more than 7,000 cases of leprosy. Leprosy now is endemic to northeastern states because illegal aliens and other immigrants brought leprosy from India, Brazil, the Caribbean and Mexico. Dengue fever is exceptionally rare in America, though common in Ecuador, Peru, Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Mexico. Recently, according to the report, there was a virulent outbreak of dengue fever in Webb County, Texas, which borders Mexico. Though dengue is usually not a fatal disease, dengue hemorrhagic fever routinely kills. Polio was eradicated from America, but now reappears in illegal immigrants as do intestinal parasites, according to the report. Malaria was obliterated, but now is re-emerging in Texas

    Crowded Roads
Traffic frustration, wasted petrol as the engine runs while the car is stalled in traffic, longer commuting times, more noise, smog, pollution, car accidents.

The annual arrival of 1.5 million legal and illegal immigrants is overburdening our already crowded roadways. Americans are spending more time sitting in traffic than ever before: in a typical day we spend 46 minutes commuting to and from work.

The cost of traffic congestion is immense. In 2005, congestion cost $78.2 billion in America’s 437 urban areas, up 7 percent from 2004. Population growth and the ensuing urban sprawl is worsening the situation, resulting in year-after-year increases in wasted fuel and time spent commuting.

Our nation’s ecosystems are also burdened by the crowding of our roadways. By themselves, the 8.5 million miles of impermeable roadway that traverses the U.S. cause habitat destruction. In addition, America’s fleet of personal vehicles floods our waterways with pollutants and is the major contributor to urban smog.

The average urban driver now spends more than 100 hours commuting to work, compared to just 16 in 1982--an increase of 525 percent. (Stephen Buckner and Joanna Gonzalez, Americans Spend More Than 100 Hours Commuting to Work Each Year, Census Bureau Reports, U.S. Census Bureau News, March 30, 2005). The Texas Transportation Institute's annual study of traffic congestion in urban areas found that in 2005 Americans spent 4.2 billion hours delayed in traffic and wasted 2.9 billion gallons of fuel.

California With five of the nation's 20 most congested metro areas, Californians wasted 871 million hours and 673.5 million gallons of fuel sitting in traffic in 2005. In the San Fernando Valley area, the average morning rush-hour speed of 31 mph is expected to fall to 16 mph by 2025 as new drivers crowd the already saturated roads. Los Angeles Los Angeles has been the most traffic-choked urban area in the country for 20 years running. State officials say the number of miles driven on Los Angeles and Orange County roads will increase 40 percent by 2020, due in large part to the sustained influx of immigrants into the region’s suburbs. Sacramento Even with $15 billion in planned road improvements, congestion will increase 400 percent by 2020.

Traffic congestion in Atlanta has become so bad that the Chamber of Commerce called it the greatest threat to the city's economic prosperity. The city, which has seen a large influx of hispanic immigrants in recent decades, and is now known as the “Poster Child of Sprawl,” is among the deadliest for pedestrians and motorists. Congestion on the overcrowded roads results in a traffic accident every 2.8 minutes in the metro area. The accidents further aggravate congestion, and cost $4.7 billion per year.

A new report by famed researcher Edwin Rubenstein exposed the costs of unending migration into the U.S. at: “$1.6 Trillion Needed to Repair and Maintain Nation's Hospitals, Schools, Parks, Water Supply, Bridges, and Basic Infrastructures.”

Immigration will be responsible for more than 80 percent of the spending needed to expand infrastructure capability between now and mid-century, according to the report. Ed Rubenstein examines 15 categories of infrastructure: airports, border security, bridges, dams and levees, electricity (the power grids), hazardous waste removal, hospitals, mass transit, parks and recreation facilities, ports and navigable waterways, public schools, railroads, roads and highways, solid waste and trash, and water and sewer systems,” reported Fran Griffin of Griffin Communications. “The American Society of Civil Engineers estimates that $1.6 trillion dollars is needed to repair and maintain U.S. infrastructure in next 5 years. The massive influx of immigrants into the U.S. is increasing the demands on an overburdened infrastructure, much of which was built shortly after World War II and is outdated and deteriorating.”

    Taking Away Jobs
The business interests have traditionally seen worker's unions as the primary enemy, since businesses are afraid their workers could go on a long strike that could bankrupt particular companies. Increasing the wages of the lower class also causes profits and corporate stock values to go down. Unions are also the main supporters of opposing political parties.

The strategy was to allow illegal immigrants to come to live and work. Coming from desperate poverty, they were willing to work for very little. Since they were illegal the employer could threaten his workers with deportation if they tried to strike. Many formerly good paying union jobs turned into minimum wage jobs with bad working conditions- jobs that only immigrants were then willing to do. There are many complaints about the presence of illegal immigrants causing wages to be low, but I think the bigger issue is that their presence causes working conditions to deteriorate. It is much easier to raise the minimum wage than it is to "mandate" better working conditions.

So the business interests virtually destroyed the power of the worker's unions. The interesting exception to this is the federal worker's unions, since it is nearly impossible for illegal immigrants to find employment in the government. However, the business interests have been agitating to have the government contract out ("privatize") services rather than directly employing the workers. The private business will be able to provide cheaper services, but only because they can get away with hiring illegal workers and not giving any health or pension benefits.

Now it seems that the business interests are trying to hijack the USA Tea Party movement for their own ends. These same business interests are the ones that purposely underfunded the border guard and immigration service, ensuring that the employment and residence laws would not be meaningfully enforced. Of course, directly changing the immigration laws to allow in workers would have outraged their constituents (the people who voted for them), so they resorted to more subtle tactics. Not only that, but keeping their workers undocumented allows businesses to use fear to control the workers.

Even highly educated jobs are not immune to "outsourcing" and "insourcing". Consider that in 1970 the unemployment rate for all scientists and engineers with a PhD was about 1%. Even in the years immediately prior to the start of the current recession, real unemployment amongst this group was estimated to be around 20% and inflation-adjusted salaries were several times lower. Here is an excellent video:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYM8MIXCvQQ&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - ‪Lou Dobbs on Post Docs & PhDs Being Paid Peanuts & Exploited Through H-1B‬‏[/ame]

By one estimate, wages for entry level and low-skilled jobs have been suppressed by $200 Billion Dollars a year by the presence of undocumented workers.
    http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0604/01/ldt.01.html

Nearly all of the entry-level jobs have been taken by mature adult immigrants. The result is that young adults are unable to the entry level jobs that will someday lead to a decent job.

the United States already has plenty of low-skilled native workers. In January 2010, unskilled laborers had an unemployment rate of 13.6 percent (compared to a nationwide rate of 9.7 percent). The numbers are even higher when workers who are involuntarily working part time or have given up on finding a job due to economic conditions are considered. The inclusion of such workers brings the total underutilization of high school dropouts in the U.S. to 35 percent and 20 percent among graduates, compared to just 10 percent of college graduates.
The effects are most pronounced in the cities where immigrants go. Because too much immigration keeps wages low, wage increases in low-immigration cities have been 48 percent higher than in high-immigration cities.

Besides losing jobs, some native workers end up reliant on public assistance. A 1996 study estimated that 1,880,000 American workers are displaced from their jobs every year by immigration and that the cost for providing welfare and assistance to these Americans was over $15 billion a year. (The Net Costs of Immigration, Donald Huddle, Rice University, October 1996)

As for the argument that "immigrants are taking low-skilled jobs that Americans are unwilling to do, a look at the Scandinavian countries proves otherwise. Even a menial job, such as a fast-food worker, can be a decent paying job if there are not hoards of cheap immigrant labor depressing wages. The minimum wage in Norway, for example, is the equivalent to 22 US dollars per hour, and even fast-food workers get health benefits.

Even if immigrants were taking the jobs no one else was willing to do, there is the question of whether their children will be content to do the same jobs at such low wages. If not, will there be enough decent paying jobs available for everyone?

(the above pictures were taken in the USA)

Ethnic divisions have caused innumerable conflicts and torn apart many countries. There is even a name for the process- "balkanization".

The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of [different ethnicities], each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality than with the other citizens of the American Republic.” Theodore Roosevelt

The histories of bilingual and bicultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy. Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon-all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with its Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans.

A nation is much more than a place on a map. It is a state of mind, a shared vision, and a recognition that we are all in this together. A nation needs a common language as it needs a common currency. You have to share something with your neighbors beside a postal number. We need many things to tie us together, but one indispensable element must be that we all speak one common language.

America has been successful because the white majority, who came from many different northern and western european countries, has become one people. There is a "social glue" of a common language, a shared history, uniting symbols that tie them together. They live under a common flag, which id honored, and saluted.

What americans are seeing in their streets is a naked assertion of power by outsiders against the american nation. They demand that americans comply with their wishes and submit america's immigration policies for their approval, and implicitly threaten violence if their demands are not met. They believe that they are still Mexicans, El Salvadorans, Guatemalans. For the most part they do not have any allegiance to the USA.

There are a number of Mexican and Hispanic advocacy groups, such as the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA) and the National Council of La Raza (La Raza), which more or less support, advocate, or have a revolutionary agenda of conquering America's southwest, retaking northern "Aztlan" from the gringo invaders. They make no secret about their intentions: http://studentorgs.utexas.edu/mecha/archive/plan.html

In May, 2005, the BBC reported: "The Latinization of California is nothing short of a revolution. California will become a predominantly Spanish-speaking state within the next few years. And, as the majority population, there is really no need, or incentive, for them to assimilate into mainstream American society as their predecessors have always done. Whether Latinos then decide to push for greater autonomy or to seek a political agenda of their own with closer ties to Mexico and Central America is very much up for grabs." In 2001, the pro-immigration New California Media reported that Mexico "continues to mourn the loss of half of its territory to the U.S. in the 19th Century."

Mexico is pushing hard for amnesty and various benefits for millions of illegal Mexican migrants. Once naturalized, amnestied migrants could add tens of millions of people and future voters to the U.S. through births here and through immigration of extended families. U.S.-born children, even of illegal immigrants and guest workers, are American citizens and could vote at 18.
