At his trial kicking off against the Trump Organization in Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday, Cohen plans to convince a panel of New Yorkers that his former boss’ company should foot the costs for all lawyers involved in the yearslong saga.

After being selected, jurors are expected to hear evidence for four days starting July 24, including testimony from Trump Organization CEO Donald Trump Jr., whom Cohen’s lawyers got the green light to call as a witness last week. Don Jr.’s lawyers said in a filing Friday that he would comply with their subpoena.

Cohen says the ex-president’s eldest son called the shots as to which Trump Organization employees had their legal fees paid and had his own covered in several of the same matters he was involved in.

Here is the actual lawsuit (from 4+ years ago)

As with anything with the name of Trump on one side, I'll root for the other side... I would imagine Cohen will get something here, since some of the unpaid legal bills go back to 2018, before Cohen left their employ. I doubt he will get the full amount, but here's hoping!..

    What happens here?

This just might convince Trump that he should actually pay his lawyers!

Lol ofcourse the left would support him in such a clearly baseless thing. The irrational hatred of Trump has caused the left to lose themselves.

Not too sure he is expecting to see any money - Cohen has never and will never forgive Trump for throwing him under a giant bus

Sure he is... it's the basis for the suit.

After reading the full lawsuit last night, it's apparent the Trump Crime Organization stopped paying Cohen's legal fees at nearly the exact same time he started cooperating with the Mueller probe. Legally, I don't see that as being a reason payments should stop.

However, when Cohen pleaded guilty to crimes OUTSIDE of the Trump orbit (he pleaded guilty to both inside and outside crimes), he might have trouble getting the Trump Crime Organization to be responsible for those.

This will be a partial victory for Cohen, but not the full amount requested.

And, even IF Cohen collected a penny, it would just come out of Trump's (Fleecing Supporters) Slush Fund...

'Michael Cohen suit against Trump Org gets underway with jury selection'
'The disbarred lawyer wants the Trump Organization to reimburse him for expenses related to years of litigation that has brought embarrassment as well as potential criminal liability to former President Donald Trump.'

    snip:

'The trial before Justice Joel Cohen is expected to last four days.'

The Trump Organization is represented by James D. Kiley with Kiley, Kiley & Kiley.

Other trial witnesses expected to be questioned include Trump Organization Chief Legal Officer Alan Garten, Trump Organization defense attorney Alan Futerfas and Jay Sekulow, one of Trump’s lead attorneys during his first impeachment trial.

Allen Weisselberg, the former longtime Trump chief financial officer who pleaded guilty to 15 tax fraud counts and then testified as a witness in the company’s New York criminal trial, will not be called as a witness, Cohen’s lawyers confirmed Monday.'

Nor should he. The sadistic self centered is finally, gradually getting his comeuppance. Cohen realized and paid for his folly ( working for Donald,
There are some cruel behaviors that Trump engaged and engages in are dimly not "forgivable"

As his legal woes compound, we are given an inside view of his depravity.

    Makes one ponder:
Given that the "GOP" claims tobe aparty of falues. ( some would suggest Xtain values), How on eath can so many support someone as immoral, untechnical, illegal and mentally dysfunctional ??

    Major disconnect...

His legal, and other baggage continues to grow . Meanwhile he has his groupie sessios, accepts the loud fawning over him and is yet to outline any specifics about what heplans todo if elected.
One goal (according to WP) is that he plans to expand the powers of POTUS. and take control of as much as he can. (like the dictator that he is)
And now he knows enough to manipulate the system to HIS advantage If he does anything that is actually helpful to the population......it will be
accidental. His dictator friends are hoping he gets in. They and the MAGA cult. Once he consolidates power.........Good by America.as we knew it. But then those that are so unhappy with "the system" might be more than ready for a Trump style dictatorship. Lest we forget how he abuse d the country's allies, while schmoozing every dictator on the planet. As if the world does not have enough crsiis to deal with , including a burning planet.

I think Cohen is betting, and likely so, that the courts and people who would make up a jury in Manhattan are biased enough against Trump that they would rule against Trump and order Trump to pay money for the smallest excuse.

Cohen probably feels he got the short end of the stick, and at some level blames Trump and thinks Trump should pay his legal expenses. They mostly only went after him because of his association with Trump.

I personally feel that maybe to some extent Trump does deserve it because, while President, he kind of just let Cohen be thrown under the bus and did almost nothing to defend him.

older thread that delves a little bit into the complicated details of the prosecution:
The problem with the case against Cohen

I'm not sure what the case against him in 2018 has anything to do with his lawsuit for back legal fees...

I'm sticking with my post #12...

    TRaitor tRump? Yep!

But, all seriousness aside, tRaitor tRump is infamous for not paying his bills and, he is renowned for his lies. I think Cohen has a better than even chance of splitting a nice pot with his attorney.

Could be for his legal fees for lying to congress?
iirc: it was Jay Sekulow and the other lawyer who will also be called to testify who tweaked what Cohen 's testimony before Congress and it had something to do with Russia and how many time something took place?
They lowered the number that Cohen was going to testify to.
As long as Cohen continued to lie for Trump he would provide the lawyers and pay for them.

Yeah, but for a lot of that same time, he was being legally defended for his personal scams..... Gonna be hard to separate the 2 as they were happening at the same time.

As I said, he'll get something, but probably not the full monty here...

One of the lawyers that represented Cohen via Trump before Cohen cooperated with the DOJ.

I know others did too, lawyers that were in Trump's inner circle.

'Trump campaign has paid portions of Michael Cohen's legal fees: Sources
Cohen has said that he did not have a formal role in the Trump campaign.'

    snips

'The Trump campaign has spent nearly $228,000 to cover some of the legal expenses for President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen,

'Federal Election Commission records show three payments made from the Trump campaign to a firm representing Cohen. The “legal consulting” payments were made to McDermott Will and Emery — a law firm where Cohen's attorney Stephen Ryan is a partner — between October 2017 and January 2018.'

    https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/tru...s-michael-cohens-legal-fees/story?id=54831269

    Here we go..

Michael Cohen's involvement with Donald Trump racked up his legal bills. He wants the Trump Org to pay them.'

    snip:

      • Litigation arising from payments made to Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.
      • The federal criminal case he pleaded guilty to.
      • A House of Representatives oversight committee investigation.
      • A House intelligence committee investigation.
      • A House judiciary committee investigation.
      • A Senate intelligence committee investigation.
      • A Senate judiciary committee investigation.
      • Litigation from a dispute over possibly privileged evidence seized by the FBI during raids on his home and office.
      • The Mueller investigation.
      • The New York Attorney General investigation into Trump's charities.
      • This lawsuit you're reading about right now.
Before Cohen became publicly critical of Trump, in 2018, the company had been paying his legal bills. It paid $1.7 million in legal fees for various investigations, and then an additional $250,000 to a law firm representing Cohen after his residence was raided by the FBI, his lawsuit says. Cohen says the payments were part of an indemnification agreement he made with the company.

Around June 2018, Cohen began cooperating with the FBI and was no longer represented by the firm the Trump Organization had been paying. From that point on, Cohen says in his lawsuit, the legal bills kept piling up, but the company wasn't paying them.'
