SPARTANBURG, S.C. – “Republican presidential candidate Michelle Bachmann got her Elvis Presley dates all shook up during a campaign stop in South Carolina.

The congresswoman from Minnesota played the Elvis tune "Promised Land" on Tuesday at a restaurant in Spartanburg, and told the crowd of 300 that she wanted to say happy birthday to the King of Rock and Roll.

But Aug. 16 is the anniversary of Elvis’ death, in 1977, and someone in the crowd shouted back, "He died today!"

Bachmann didn’t respond and launched into her speech.

Bachmann has stumbled over cultural references before. In June, she kicked off her presidential campaign in Waterloo, Iowa, calling it the home of American actor John Wayne. The town was actually home for a time to serial killer John Wayne Gacy.”

Never one to wrestle with the truth, Michele Bachmann has once again pranced upon a political stage to proclaim her great ineptitude in speaking the truth, and in the face of correction, ignored it and went on with her speech.

No one seemed too surprised by her latest gaffe that she failed to rectify, and we can look forward to many more lies that suit Michele’s agenda on any certain day. But if she were to become president, can we be assured that she would tell the truth in government matters, or spin it so that it conforms with her agenda…and hope that nobody notices?

 

This woman is a little too out there for the mainstream. I heard the audio of it and I cringed, like watching a fat girl dance with too much enthusiasm. Not pretty.

Let's be fair Tex, her gaff was so f-ing embarrassing it had to make you cringe. Gaff OBama is a chump in his own right, no doubt about that, but jeez, mixing up a birthday and a deathday is a f*cking riot.

 

What's hysterical is like the Wizard of Ah's Obama, and now Bachman, stuff like that makes the news.

The problem is us. For some reason, we think politicians are better or smarter than us. The best and brightest are not in DC.

2) Why is Bachmann even talking about it? She seems to like to name drop.....John Wayne, Elvis......I suppose she's trying to put herself in the same category. I think the woman is fame crazed........maybe that's what her googly eyes are all about....

it's high time that liberals and conservatives alike demand more from the media and puke all over talking points.

Let's see real facts.We don't need to see as a % of GDP blah blah. When talking taxes taken from taxpayers let's see the total dollars and to heck with GDP. When talking about spending increases let's again see total dollars.

If you bring in wasteful pork spending to your district then how much $$ and how many projects? Let's see those line items for all reps and senators

This was not a smart move by Bachmann. She lost millions of Elvis fans votes with that huge blunder. She can't seem to concentrate and seems to have ADHD.

 

I can just see it now...

It is a good speaking technique. Throw in some light-hearted positive stuff that people are familiar with, especially early. If it is the home town of John Wayne then say something about John Wayne. If their football team is doing well or well known then mention that. This is speech 101 stuff.
