Hopefully they will turn up the heat. There is no room for authoritarianism in the U.S.

Southern Democrats/Republicans did all they could do to stop it. Maybe you need to do alittle more research.

Those Southerners children and grand children are Republicans today and have the same mindset as their fathers and grandfathers.

Thurmond recognized his wrongs. Left the party of the klan and asked for forgiveness.

Meanwhile, Grand Dragon Byrd stayed in the party of the klan and Ms Clinton worshipped him

Not sure how you can say republicans did all they could to stop it...they overwhelmingly supported, just like every other civil rights act.

you seem pretty low informed....just like the dnc wants you

The :democrat: had been a staunch States' Rights party until the early 1950's. Thurmond recognized early on the movement in the party to the centralized control of socialism & switched. His switch had zero to do with race, and all of the other racist :democrat: that voted against the Civil Rights Act like Byrd (klan member), Gore (al's daddy), Fulbright (Slick willy's mentor), McClellan, Russell (democrat: Senate office bldg named after him), Ervin (of Ervin Committee fame). The racists had no reason to leave the party, and none left for that reason.

Slavery is the non-consensual taking of labor for the another's benefit. Social welfare is the non-consensual taking of labor for the another's benefit. The difference between the :democrat: slavers of 1860 & today's "socialist :democrat: " is nil. It's the same damned party it's always been.

One other thing, as the South became more Republican it also became a hell of a lot less racist. Today, most racism is still practiced by :democrat: keeping the blacks dependent in their urban ghetto plantations. Only the methodology differs from the antebellum South.

    (cough) bullshit (cough).

21 :democrat: senators voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Only 6 Republicans senators voted against it, and 4 were from northern states. Goldwater voted against it because he was essentially a libertarian and believed the bill was government overreach. The only other southern Republican to vote against it was John Tower of Texas.

    That's a lie.

Examine all of the voting by parties and region. The northern and western democrats and some republicans passed the CRA over the southern republican and democrats' opposition.

OK, you made me :roflol:. Just more of your constant nonsense trolling. It's risibly false so prove it.

    Stop the falsification. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964

Note: "Southern", as used in this section, refers to members of Congress from the eleven states that had made up the Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. "Northern" refers to members from the other 39 states, regardless of the geographic location of those states.[25]

    The original House version:

    • Southern Democrats: 7–87 (7–93%) (four Representatives from Texas, two from Tennessee and Claude Pepper of Florida voted in favor)
    • Southern Republicans: 0–10 (0–100%)
    • Northern Democrats: 145–9 (94–6%)
    • Northern Republicans: 138–24 (85–15%)
    The Senate version:

How many Southern Republicans voted for the CRA or VRA?

How many Northern Democrats voted against the CRA or VRA?

Looks like you need to study History and not His-Story.

Looks like Trump is now actively working to sow chaos and make these protests worse. I tell ya, if he isn't a Russian agent, he'll do until one comes along.

Trump: 'Liberate' states under stay-at-home orders
Trump has sent a string of incendiary tweets calling on states currently under stay-at-home orders to be liberated.

    Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)
    LIBERATE MINNESOTA!

    April 17, 2020
    Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)
    LIBERATE MICHIGAN!

    April 17, 2020
    Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)
LIBERATE VIRGINIA, and save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!

    April 17, 2020
The surprising tweets come a day after Trump released the federal guidelines on reopening the economy and acknowledged governors would make the ultimate decision on how and when to reopen their states.

“Governors will be empowered to tailor an approach that meets the diverse circumstances of their own states,” Trump said at yesterday’s press conference. “Every state is very different.”

icon_lmao.gif You quoted the vote on the original language that DID NOT BECOME LAW! icon_lmao.gif You purposely referenced the vote on the original language, and purposely chose NOT to reference the vote on the bill as passed & THEN implied I was lying when I referenced the page with the final vote on the language that was signed into law. Did you think you were fooling anyone? icon_lmao.gif

You owe me & the entire board an apology for purposely misleading everyone.

The vote reflected what people were thinking and doing at the time.

Your statements are false and unsupported.

You are lying about my motives, when it is clear you are trying to defend the indefensible southern Republicans. So apologize now for your bad ways.

Baghdad Bob, you have failed yet again.

Byrd reformed and became a civil rights leader.

Thurmond ran away and would not even publicly acknowledge his black daughter.

    Trump = Total DISGRACE.

It serves no purpose other than to sew discord and make people in those states think that they can re-open prematurely.

Can you even imagine the sort of people that would retweet something like "LIBERATE MICHIGAN"?

Can you even fathom that sort of mindset?

    Liberate Michigan! Yippee!

His mindset never changed, he still held the mindset of the sheetwearers like most right wing, conservatives do.
