Of course not. Private enterprise. In the context of the conversation it should have been clear I was not referencing the state. See: 14th Amendment.

Certainly. However, all rights, grants, and privileges conveyed by civil union (or state marriage) can easily be accomplished through private contracts between consenting adult citizens. Children are still subject to the jurisdiction of the state regardless of the marital status of the parents.

    1) yes
    2) It's better to listen to your wife before you make that suggestion....or the Govt is the least of your worries
    3) Well what often gets confused in the LBGT discussion is that they aren't a protected class, like race, national origin and to a lesser degree gender. LBGT are not. Largely because it hasn't been proven to be a inheirnt trait. If a Church can say, not hire women to be Priest, then they certainly can not hire someone for being homosexual. Churches aren't businesses, but then again they aren't limited to Sunday service, they have charities, and schools for example that are an arm of the church.

    That depends.

Do these particular homosexuals meet all the criteria with credit score, criminal history, etc?

Who are you kidding with this sh't? You told @Ronstar he didn't think homosexuals are "equal" because he wants to pass legislation protecting gay rights. Now, you come back with crapola about "equality of outcome" BS when all I did was expose your absurd play on the word "equal."

I don't know. I think a Jew could reasonably refuse to rent an apartment to a Nazi, and a Trump supporter could reasonably refuse to rent an apartment to an ANTIFA.

Gay Rights, means the right to not face discrimination due to their sexuality, in housing/employment/education. Such laws also protect straight people.

Now what behaviors does the government have a right to restrict?

The problem with that is that the left thinks everyone they don't like is a Nazi.

    Exactly.

So it seems to me like we just need anti-discrimination laws that apply to everyone equally then huh.

    they already do.

Civil Rights Act doesn't pick and choose which groups are and not protected.

Except for the part where, on this very forum, you can find a laundry list of people saying wearing a MAGA hat makes you a racist.

This site is replete with people calling Trump, and Trump supporters, Nazis.

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of examples of people being assaulted for doing nothing other than wearing a MAGA hat.

You can pretend, but you know I can use the search function pretty well by now.

    Of course they do.

That's why we have affirmative action and other race based policies.

Just like when someone says "gay rights" or "women's rights".

They have the same rights as everyone else, so there would be no need to single them out if you didn't want them getting special protections.

........none of which has anything to do with the thread.

now, why do you oppose anti-discrimination laws that ban discrimination due to sexual orientation?

When's the last time you were bullied for being heterosexual?
When's the last time you were denied, under the law, the right to marry your significant other simply for being heterosexual?
When's the last time you were fired, not hired, or denied a promotion for being heterosexual?

Of course it does. It's discrimination. That's what we're discussing.

You were doing well until you accused me of being childish and then went childish on your second sentence.

The last time I wore a MAGA hat. They said it was because I'm a Nazi but I'm POSITIVE it's because I'm straight.

There is no right to marry.

The last time someone preferred hiring a gay person I suppose. Which happens. Ask Vox.

Bull. You've never been bullied for being heterosexual. Never lost a job for being hetero and you've never been denied the ability to get married for being hetero and neither has any other hetero. Grow up

You're kidding yourself if you don't think straight people are discriminated against by gay people.

For example, Mayor Buttigieg would be completely unknown if he was just another straight white guy.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think some businesses and orgs don't go out of their way to hire gay people over straight people.

Apparently you don't know any gay people.

    They discriminate plenty.
