You want to know what one of the biggest problems for the Black community is? It’s irresponsible men who father children and walk away from their responsibilities. Children who are raised in single mother households have a lesser chance for success. There is also something to be said about young boys who are raised without a male role model. It’s one of the reasons why the crime rate is so high among young African-American males.

If you want to read about someone who beat the odds, read the book Just Tyrus by Tyrus, the Fox News commentator and heavy weight wrestling champion. The book is a real eye opener and shows what a young Black man faces to beat the odds.

The benefits of marriage are connected to owning a house and raising a family. The Republicans enabled the greed obsessed Wall Street Casino Bosses to gut these benefits for their own nefarious ends. Millennials and Gen Z cannot afford the American Dream thanks to them.

So in this day and age there is little wonder that those struggling under college loan debts are not going to put themselves even further in the hole for the cost of a marriage or by purchasing a house even if they could afford one. That applies to all of them.

 

If marriage laws enabled polygamy then they would stipulate equal shares to all parties under that contract.

 

That would make sense.

My preference would be to get the government out of the business of "marriage law" and let marriages simply fall under the category of "contract law". Then the terms of the contract would be up to the particular individuals involved.

The fact that black males are far more likely to be incarcerated by the justice system in many states accounts for many of those men not being around for their kids.

The current justice system is heavily biased against POC and it is disingenuous to lock someone up and then accuse them of not being there for their kids.

 

If it were that simple I would agree with you because adults can enter into binding contracts like marriage or taking a car loan.

The moment there is a child things take on a distinctly different meaning as to who is entitled to what and how much is fair to all parties.

So government, which is responsible for all laws, still has a responsibility to remain in the "business" of marriage laws.

 

Or "child care" laws

Also, if marriage were simply contractual, it would certanly include langage involving child care arrangements. Just hypothosizing though.

You failed to question your source. You failed to understand the reality of POC under our current racist system of justice. You failed to even address the facts provided in my link that demonstrated the fallacies in your allegations.

There is quite a bit of wisdom in what you have to say. Yes it is easier to find new partners using the Internet.

Part of problem started by during the Johnson administration in the 1960s. One of the counterproductive rules was if there was a unmarried man in the house, you got no benefits. That drove African-American families apart. The Johnson Administration as subsidized apartment rentals for unwed mothers. As one critic pointed out, one of the the tings a sexually active daughter wanted was to get out from under her mother who might have been trying to rein her in. There were also additional benefits if they had more children.

All of these things worked against the core African-American family unit. African-American culture put a lot of stock into religion and the rules of the Ten Commandments. The Johnson administration rules worked against that positive influence.

 

I understand. Things like that are highly intertwined in the state marriage situation. So the idea of the state being non-involved in marriage would have to be after a long period of societal adjustment. Will that ever happen? Who knows.

But while the state does involve itself in marriage, then it seems that it should not limit the number of spouses to only two.

 

I am a responsible citizen who feels obligated to call out a mental heaslth crisis when he sees one.
