I wonder if a US school board would have issued the same ruling.

The Muslims offered to forfeit. they made no demands and expected nothing from the other team. The Christian team offered to pull the girls from the game so the muslim boys could continue the game.

    A classy situation all round.

While I agree there is much sexism in Islam, I don't see wanting to avoid physical contact with women as being sexist. If they had demanded that the girls not play, I would agree. I think both sides handled the situation very well.

I really want to know who won the game.

Leave it to the Canadians to resolve their cultural differences peacefully. If this happened in the US, hundreds of bikers and other misc low-lifes would descend upon the Muslim school armed to the teeth to degrade Islam over a high school soccer game.

Diversity works when you want it to work.

    What does the title mean?
Means one team is composed of girls only and another of boys only and the two compete each other?
Whhat school did each team belonged to?
And I thought that after let and make you must use infinitive without to....

And contact between males and females is considered provocative of lust, and one is forbidden to even look lewdly in Islam.

Does this support Margot2's silly notion that Islam is the model the rest of the world should follow on the issue of women's rights?

    The Muslims lost 6-1.

But that's not the story here, the story is about gender equality, wouldn't you agree? So with that said, why is it the girls don't have their own soccer team? If they do, then why is it seen as a step up to play on the boys team? Why are we willing to concede that certain attributes are stronger in one specific type of individual but not other attributes, like intelligence?

Gender equality, in its truest form, means there's just one team that both boys and girls try out for. But that will never happen because then most of the times the girls would never make the team - notice how I said most of the time. So in order to have quasi gender equality, we develop segregated teams but only if there is enough willing Girls and coaches along with the cash to make it happen. Even then, moving up to the men's team means just that, moving UP.

No matter what the case, either this catholic school didn't have a girls team and favored just the boys, or maybe they did have a girls team with 2 of them being promoted to the men's team.

    Gender equality my arse.

    I don't think so.
To the best of my knowledge, in all parts of the world such a contact is avoided as much as possible, regardless of the religion.

The largest collection of hard core pornography I have ever seen was a barracks at Fort Benning Georgia during the clean up when Saudi soldiers completed their training and went home.

I'm just spit-balling here, but I'm guessing they were looking lewdly at the pics.

If it offers no advantages, the best solution is to reduce the conflicts (accommodate it where reasonable) and let it exist right next to other philosophies that do have demonstrable advantages. By minimizing the conflicts you remove any argument that it's practitioners are being persecuted, and human nature will (over time) cause folks to migrate to the more advantageous system. It will remove (or evolve) itself.

If it does offer advantages we're not aware of, those advantages will become apparent and we won't have accidentally lost something useful. But if you try and force it off the earth, the folks currently invested in it will take that as persecution, fight back, and we'll have a few thousands of years more of wasteful conflict.

Yes, I heard many Saudi people go to Bahrain for doing lewd behaviour. But don't judge a religion by people just living in practicing countries.

Most people do not go out of their way to avoid physical contact with people of the opposite sex.
