What I said was that I treat the claims of a personal god, and the related claims of 'miracles' equally - I don't believe any of them.

Which is actually more respectful than the religous themselves, who arrogantly believe that their personal god is the 'true' god, and they are prepared to kill and die to prove that. Duh - if that doesn't sound like dangerously deluded behaviour to you, I really don't know what more I can say.

However, it is possible to dismiss the unsubstantiated claims about gods and angels, while at the same time, respecting the fact that Muslims, like Christians, Jews, Raelians, and Scientologists are more than just a religion, they are people, I respect them on that basis.

That doesn't mean to say that I need to have an automatic respect for their claims, since they are made with no evidence, and are bizarre, to say the least.

The truth Islam is causing huge problems in Europe, is backwards, violent, oppressive, to name just a few.

 

Where do I begin.

Okay, one can assert that the claims within any given faith are indeed 'backwards', as you put it. For example, I would find it backward thinking for any Western Christian to believe that the earth is 6000 years old, and that man co-existed with dinosaurs, oh, and that how we look now - that is how we have always looked. Or I might assert that to believe a Jew called Moses had a meeting with an invisible man, who told him that, funnily enough, the Jews were chosen for some sort of special mission on earth was backward thinking. But that doesn't mean to say that the people that make those claims deserve to be persecuted in some way, for doing so. I would sooner that people used their intellect and reason to come to the conclusion that such claims are primative fables, all of them, rather than try to persecute those that do buy them.

Individually though, I bet there a a good many Muslims who are better educated than you, more knowledgeable than you, less pugnacious than you, and generally less 'backward' than some may perceive you to be.

Btw - If you are a so called Christian or a Jewish Zionist, I don't think you can take the moral high ground, point the finger at ANYONE and call them 'violent and aggressive'.
