Our patchwork of gun laws is allowing the bloodbath of gun deaths to continue in this country. It is ridiculously easy for ANYONE to get a gun ANYWHERE in the US. State gun laws are not enough. Unless we have a border crossing at each state they are not getting the job done. We need national gun laws. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015/11/12/us/gun-traffickers-smuggling-state-gun-laws.html?_r=0 http://america.aljazeera.com/articl...laws-in-indiana-fuel-violence-in-chicago.html http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/guns-n-y-crimes-bought-states-article-1.2843521
The bloodbaths are in your beloved Liberal Democrat strongholds that don't care about enforcing laws or punishing the people who pull the triggers. It is ridiculously easy for any urban thug to kill someone in cold blood in front of many witnesses, and not even be arrested for it. You and your Progressives need to clean up your act before telling others what to do. Remove the plank in your own eye, then you will see better to remove the specks in your brother's eyes.
@ vegas giants I thought so. Nobody could be that ignorant of the existing national gun laws that have been on the books for decades.
Then you should be taking the guns to trial, and not the people who misuse them. It's not thug's fault-----------the guns did it!
So you'd like more gun laws that have no effect on crime. Haven't we been over this before? Gun control has no appreciable effect on crime. Oh look. Aljazeera wants gun control. I wonder why.
Let's see here, i'm 55 and I can remember pseudo-bleeding hearts crying about national gun laws since the early 70's when I actually first watched a news program. Since then there's never been any national gun law that ever actually stopped a murder and the laws that were passed were a joke anyway. AHHH 1994, the year Bill Lewinski Clinton signed his crime bill with the so-called "assault weapons ban" which actually accomplished a huge sales increase in semi-auto AR and AK type rifles which the ignorant still wrongly refer to as an assault rifle when they have been educated otherwise. 1994 is when I bought a MAK 90, which is a Chinese semi-auto AK-47 with no bayonet lug along with 5-30 round magazines(not clips) and about 1K of 7.62x39 ammo. That year also started the growing popularity of the semi-auto AR-15 which now you can buy quality AR's for around $500., of course you will spend more buying optics and accessories. Also don't forget starting in the mid to late 90's many states started passing "shall issue" handgun carry permits and now most all states in the U.S. have shall issue. Point is, freedom hating gun grabbers have been trying and trying to crap on the Constitution and disarm law abiding American citizens for decades and longer but you keep constantly LOOSING, and you will continue to LOOSE. It's just funny that they still hold on to that ridiculous pipe dream that will never happen. P.S. Don't forget, Donald Trump is POTUS for at least 4, probably 8 years.
Opeds are not valid sources especially from aljazeera ad NYT which are little more than tabloids. We have had a decline in gun violence for decades now and it cannot be done better. There is no bloodbath as you claim period. Rights are not dependent on other people's safety and the USA is fine happy and content with our right to own weapons it makes us a superior and better nation than any other. your done
We shall see. He has to compromise on something to get what he wants. I think he will throw you under the bus to get his wall
Every gun sale is a federal sale. Handguns are only sold to people with a valid state ID, meaning you can't go across a state border and buy a handgun in Texas with an Oklahoma license. Rifles and shotguns can be sold to individuals with a valid ID from a neighboring state, meaning someone from California cannot buy an AR15 in Texas. Any firearm purchase from an FFL dealer must pass a background check by filling out a FF4473. These ask for all basic information from name, DoB, SSN, as well as qualifying questions. Any of these that are answered incorrectly will disqualify someone from purchasing a firearm. The corporation I worked for denied people for 30 days for answering a question wrong. And this went to all the stores in the chain. Also, if the address doesn't match the one on the ID, the sale is denied unless something else is provided like a utility bill with the correct address. At anytime a sales person feels uncomfortable, they can deny the sale. Person is drunk or high, acting erratic, talking to someone on the phone that indicates a straw sale, etc. If the person then passes all this, then the sale goes through.
I can shop for a gun online, meet a guy in the parking lot and buy whatever I want with no background check or ID. Cash only. And that is crazy
Yes, and you stand a very good chance of getting killed, or at least getting robbed of your money, or getting arrested in a Law Enforcement sting operation. No Law can prevent already Illegal black market weapons sales.
Well don't let me stop the unintelligent arguments flowing in our direction. Please continue with the nonsense.
That is what the Gun Ban crowd does best, cry about crime, and their solution is to take Guns away from Law Abiding people.
