    Okay

I look closest to Amy Lee of any celebrity. I also get Zoey Deshanel. Round face, big eyes, etc See below:

My hair is extremely long, black and one length. I'm bored with it and want a new look altogether. When it is this long you've grown it for awhile and I'm having a hard time picking a style. I'm keeping my color because its so dark that I can never lighten it to a good color.

Should I go for something like this:

So that I look cute and friendly

Or leave the bangs/fringe for something like this:

    Or add bangs

Or keep it this length and layer it

I'm probably going to get it cut over the weekend.

Do you have an actual photo to substantiate your claims of looking like the aforementioned celebrities?

Is your hair straight or wavy?

If you have a round face around the jaw line, having hair just past shoulder length is good for minimizing the contrast between your neck and face. You can have your hair flow in all sorts of ways over your shoulders whether it's wavy or straight.

If your hair is straight or you have a tall forehead, get the bangs.

I agree, you can't go wrong with this one:

I do, but I would not post it. At least three of the people on here have seen me, those I chum around in political beliefs with so you can always ask one of them. :D

No offense but you don't strike me as cute and bubbly like Zoey generally portrays. You strike me as a roll up her sleeves and get it done type of girl. (which I like about you by the way)

I think the first one's length and style is good. But don't try to dye it that color. You have dark hair. Dyed hair always looks stupid on women with dark hair. And dark hair is the sexiest color anyway. Red is sexy too but you generally have to either be natural red or have a light color natural hair for a decent blank canvas. Going from black to red usually just makes you look like a clown.

I change my hair all the time. I go light for summer, darker for winter. I've tried every different kind of style / colour to know what suits me.

Go with the style you like, and with the look you want. You can always change it, just experiment - it's fun.

I like the first one, particularly the colour. A bit more quirky for my taste, too.

I'm thinking maybe the one that Margot and Beast suggested. It's a good transition and if I don't like it I can grow it back out and if I don't cry losing length, I can go shorter.

Ohhh, how I wish I could be blonde, tho. Like white Gwen Stefani blonde.

XL and I live near each other and a few of the rest of us are all part of a working group. You can't really be in a working group without hanging out IRL.

Cutesy no. Not in your job. Shoulder length and just casual enough to not be cutesy but not too severe. Jeez I'm not much use.

My internet forum experience has been that women tend to upgrade their appearance when comparing themselves to celebrities...
"I've been told I look like so and so..." "So and So" is usually a very attractive person...you never hear a woman say, well I look just like Roseanne Barr or Joan Rivers...
    something probably more realistic.

You see, I could say...I look just like George Clooney...post a photo of ol' George and carry on...but I'm closer in resemblance to Herman Munster than George Clooney, yet I'm confident
enough not to have to "upgrade" my persona by comparing myself to a more attractive celebrity.

    [IMG] = [IMG] not... [IMG]

    Carry on.

:) I look like Morticia Adams, too. It was mostly to give an idea of face shape and coloring, but ask someone whose seen me if you're curious ;).

    It's all good. :)

You just must understand when women go from LONG hair to not long hair we get nervous and can even cry after the hair is cut, so I don't want to have some regrets. Honestly, I like the first short style but I'm too nervous. :(

Cut off enough to give to "Locks of Love", then start at a style for medium length. You can always go shorter later on.

You're talking to a guy who has the same hair-cut style for 25 years...understanding of course the importance of a woman's hair style is to their feeling of self-worth, my initial advice would be that hair can always grow back; this would probably not be taken well. If you're afraid to go too short, then choose a happy medium. Of the celebrity photos you provided, I would say this Zoey person is the one I find most attractive.

That was the plan, why I was growing it. It's long enough that ten inches would still be below my shoulders.

You are a handsome fellow, and more of a hero than Clooney could ever even pretend to be.

Ahh well thank you Shangrila, as this thread is about Zosiasmom, I respectfully bow out...and will finalize my thoughts on this topic:
She does strike me, from her postings, as a strong-willed person, so perhaps the more bubbly look might not suit her.

    Keep it professional looking.

great plan... and I understand your angst about it... my son's girlfriend had her's cut recently - and not all that drastically - and she cried. On the other hand, my wife has been going from short to long to short to long for 16 years... it's pretty long now, but she is thinking of getting it cut super short when we take a vacation to Miami in April... it always grows back, so that's a good thing. Me... I have been using my clippers and giving myself a butch every month for the past decade and I can't imagine anything else. Well... I did shave it bald for a year or so while I was preaching so that my goatee and bald head made me look sinister... just to give a visual mixed message to my congregation!
