If the number was 8.5 you would be cheering the report and trashing anyone who questioned it's accuracy.

once we get Obamacare implemented and more part time workers are hired to share what were once full time jobs, the number should drop even more. This is excellent news

Of course the number is false. Rush and Sean assured us that Obama's economic policies would fail and unemployment would stay above 10%.

I'm a bit surprised. The 'mid-terms' are still a ways off. Isn't a bit early to be 'cooking the books'. The ACTUAL number is easily over 10% but that's OK. The average Obama voter sees 7.5% and 10% and thinks the 7.5% is a bigger number.

What reason would the government have to lie?

I would like to see an actual link (not an opinionated propaganda piece) to this though?

I wonder if the numbers are like last month, with several times more people giving up on finding work than actual jobs created.

Hopefully, this last report isn't going to be the pattern going forward, as part time jobs account for the entire new job count.

    +278,000 part time

    -113,000 full time

The Proof is in the Puddin'. Take Homeland Security and their habitual Lies.
First they totally Ignored the huge number of bullets that they were stockpiling.
Then they had Lapdogs in the Media complex write little stories of how this was just
another conspiracy cooked up by the blogosphere and Drudge. Then when that
wasn't working, they admitted to small purchases they made. Then bigger and bigger
purchases they could no longer hoodwink as to never being made.
Until they had to admit that YES they WERE purchasing Millions, hundereds of Millions
of rounds, but fret not.It was in the interest of saving the Government money.Forget
    not that Hollow point rounds { Banned by the Geneva Convention in warfare }
are more expensive. Now the latest version of denial is that Janet Napolitano has
a standing order for 5 years and yes they have more than enough bullets already
to cover training { Homeland Security has enough rounds to outmatch our military
by over 1,000 bullets per }.Enough bullets ordered and taken delievery of
to fight the Iraq war all over again for the next 27 years.
Talk about " fuzzy math ".

.... and with the media remaining quiet on how many people have simply given up on finding work. I suspect that "as we speak", Barack Obama and his goons are figuring out how they can just get EVERYONE to give up on finding work so they can claim ZERO PERCENT unemployment.

    - - - Updated - - -

And the Obama goons assured us unemployment would be below 6% well before now.

Same old false regurgitated Fox news talking point. RW propaganda never dies, it just get recirculated.

    - - - Updated - - -

Given that even with the increase, the number of part time jobs for economic reasons is near a 5 year low, it seems unlikely. However, with a greater portion of the population at or approaching senior status, it is probable we will continue seeing more people working part time because they don't want a full time job.

Or they could just expand the definition of unemployable by suggesting that the people who don't have jobs are not looking hard enough therefore "unemployable" removing them from the list of unemployed, and the unemployment numbers would be zero. The government controls the definition of unemployed, and have since the first statistics were calculated, nothing new here.

So you actually deny that the Obama economic team presented the graph below (minus actual growth line added) to the American people to sell the stimulus?

I tell ya what.Since you love numbers, than drudge up the number of Americans
who are on Disability and compare to 2008.I bet you won't find that number.
Because that's what the new scam is.Americans on disability and getting
relief and working part time and scamming the system.
The average taxpayer is funding that scam.

If I were you, I'd send my resume to Team Obama. I have a feeling they'd LOVE your idea. :)

Good point. the number of "discouraged" workers who are not in the labor force but want a job dropped by 309k, 408k over the past two months. Far fewer people have given up looking for work.

Why do you suppose the media is remaining quite on this positive point?

    - - - Updated - - -

I completely deny your false assertion that Obama "goons" assured anyone that the rate would be 6% by know. Feel free to quote where they made such an "assurance".

Couldn't work in a vacuum free of common sense and logic. My biggest problem in the military was asking 'why', to stupid (*)(*)(*)(*). I said why a lot.

As usual in these threads were there is positive economic news, we have our conservative friends either claiming it can't be true (Rush and Sean say so) or emphasizing whatever negative tid bits they can find.

As would be expected from those who are invested in failure for political purposes and working towards the Republican plan.

    - - - Updated - - -

I'll look it up for you on the condition you tell me what you think the number is based on what Rush and Sean are suggesting to you.

Well, you may have me there, as in reality the reason the media doesn't go that deep is because most Americans are too (*)(*)(*)(*)ing stupid to digest anything deeper than the unemployment rate.

The graph speaks for itself. Your carefully crafted denial is noted. By carefully crafted, I mean you do not deny where the graph came from.

Just read conservatives' posts in these threads. Half of them are denying it is true.

    The didn't all miss it:

Kevin Dunning, U.S. Analyst for The Economist Intelligence Unit, said the unemployment rate fall to 7.5 percent in April would have been stronger, but for the increase of 210,000 people in the labor force.

"This is encouraging, because it suggests that previously discouraged workers are returning to the jobs market on the back of better prospects now," he said.

    http://abcnews.go.com/Business/april-jobs-report/story?id=19094074#.UYPUJsocBKN

The graph doesn't speak for itself. It just contains numbers. What speaks is the report that contained the graph, that noted the graph was based on forecasts of the economy at the time (2008) that were projections subject to error as all economic forecasts are. What speaks is the report which in no way indicated there was any "assurance" that the forecast of the economy would be correct.

Your sloppily regurgitation of RW propaganda is noted. I don't deny where it came from at all. I deny anyone in the Obama administration ever made the "assurance" you claimed. Your failure to post one quote is proof of the pudding.
