Since the vaccinated can still catch and spread the virus to others, not sure what this is supposed to accomplish.

I don't see this ending well. NOLA has a large percentage of blacks and they are the largest percentage of the unvaccinated. Riots and massive protests coming soon!

No doubt this one is going to get hairy for the lefties. Bottom line most of these mandates are coming from big cities that have very high minority rates and those are not highly vaccinated. Maybe it will help them get vaccinated but it sure does cause some political problems in these cities. The big question is will it follow lefty rules and be deemed racist???

Personally I think being a leader in the time of covid is damn if you do, damn if you don't situation. It's going to be political either way so your typical politician BS won't matter regardless. What I do know.

Trump all but shut down all our borders to any outsiders when Covid started gaining traction, he was ridiculed.
Biden has not only not shut down borders, hell he is leaving the southern border more porous than swiss cheese.
Both pushed the vaccine but it's obvious Biden has failed to convince the country to take them.

I find it disturbing listening to the lefties on hear blame Trump on masks that have little to no effect but give Biden a pass keeping the borders closed. You would think they would want the borders closed, mask mandates implemented and more shut downs but now their guy is in office they only care about Trump and republicans.

Well... cancel that part of my Orange Beach, Ft. Walton, Pan Handle, and finish in New Orleans trip this October. I'll just finish in Mobile, AL instead. If you've never been to Florabama, you're missing out.

Good thing I have not booked the hotels yet.

 

At this point, it's the equivalent of requiring seatbelts be worn in cars. Can you still be injured and die in a car accident when you wear your seatbelt? Sure, but the consequences of an accident are much less less likely to be sever and you're less likely to die or even wind up in the hospital. Same for vaccines with the delta variant around. Basically, it's just requiring folks who are going to do something risky, like be around a bunch of other people in a pandemic, protect themselves.

Coupling it with a negative covid test for the unvaccinated sends mixed messages, though. You may as well just require everyone to have a negative covid test and to wear masks. The fact of delta's transmissability hasn't set in, apparently.

A big part of the low vaccination rate in minority populations is due to lack of access or misinformation (e.g. thinking you need insurance or have to pay for the shot), not necessarily hesitancy. If you've got time and money to go to a bar, theater, sporting event, etc, you almost certainly have easy access to the vaccines and can figure out that the shots are free.

 

dunno.. Maybe a policy that systemically targets one specific race over another maybe? You are in essence punishing 75% of the black population of NY because they, and rightfully so, have some skepticism of the vaccine.

I don't care about voter ID. I have a driver's license. Only those who demand voter ID know whether they are racist or not.

This is not racist because it has nothing to do with race. It's a public health and safety concern. It applies to everyone equally. People have all kinds of crazy reasons not to get vaccinated, and they are the "targets," not blacks.
