That is what I come to the people opposed to my views with. Not to dispute what may or may not be factual, but to come to terms, even if you don’t like how it tastes, with the reality staring us all in the face.

Since YOUR OPINION is not a LEGAL RULING there is NOTHING that needs to be "corrected" but don't let that alter your inflated opinion of being SUPERIOR to the Supreme Court.

If public safety were such an issue, let me ask why it was not addressed when the Constitution was written?

I agreed with the opinion of the court .. Do you have nothing other than building a big strawman so you have something to attack ?

What solutions have you come up with? I have one: wear a mask. Easy, inexpensive, and we open the economy. I can think of no reason to not wear a mask unless you are leftist who is so partisan that you would put people at risk just to make Trump look bad. Can you think of another?

The first is to come in contact with this virus head on, which will be a quicker way to open the economy. The lockdown is ended by a federal declaration by the White House. This solution will increase the number of COVID survivors, meaning we have more antibodies to farm for a vaccine. A drastic move, but a feasible one and would allow the country to recover the fastest. Some would die, some would live. The second is a little less drastic. Give people the option to isolate (yes, it is contradictory to the OP) or go out into social settings. This will balance out the people who are nervous of going out versus the people who are angry at the government. This move is also feasible, and would open the economy faster. Times like these require, if not demand, that we think out of the box, over the tried and true methods.

I am seeing a good bit of misinformation about masks in this thread. Here is some information to balance things out a bit.

Mask wearing does have risks. Especially certain types.
    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5560578
    https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/04/150422121724.htm

Masks for certain demographics, mainly asthmatics and those on the autism spectrum, are often problematic.
    https://www.google.com/amp/s/global...ronavirus-canada-face-masks-disabilities/amp/

This is an interesting read exploring effects of mask usage on anxiety and panic disorders as well as other psychological and physiological effects of mask usage.
    https://academic.oup.com/annweh/article/56/1/102/166254

Bottom line is we don’t have a great deal of good data, but the assertion mask use is without risk is not supported by science. In fact the opposite is true. Please don’t use Snopes as your source for information on the sciences.

You have no idea what you're saying. You seem to believe that we let the virus run wild, a few hundred thousand die, and the economy goes back to pre-Trump-virus-debacle era status. Not a few hundred thousand. Before herd immunity sinks in, over a million Americans would have to die. And several million who recover but are incapacitated for life. For whom YOU will be paying food stamps and hospital bills for, because they won't be able to work anymore in their life. And not only that, because we are part of planet Earth, everybody on the planet would have to do the same. Because... would it be "opening the economy" if people who do business abroad are not allowed to open?

You accused me of being "scared" of being infected. Myself getting infected is the last thing in my mind. Or course I would hide! If this idiot President decided to go this route I wouildn't want to infect my family! But that's not going to happen. Even Trump is not that stupid! And that's saying a lot. Not because he wouldn't want to. But because his advisors have assured him that if he does that, he will probably be facing a 50-state shut out against him.

No! That's not my concern at all. My concern is that the few who think that by themselves they can create "herd immunity", are just going to kill more people. This will mean the economy will take longer to open. Even now, many businesses (particularly restaurants) are shutting down here in Florida. Not because the moron we call "governor" has ordered it. But because some employee or they themselves get infected. Because a client refused to wear a mask. So the rest needs to quarantine for two weeks. But two weeks later they reopen and another employee comes out infected. So they have to close again.

THAT's my concern. And this is what Trump supporters who refuse to follow the guidelines are creating: a longer recovery, with more people dead and more incapacitated for life which YOU will have to pay benefits to for the rest of their life.

Oh God! You think that there is some shortage of antibodies?????

Rather than swiftly concluding, without due consideration, that Fauci is 'backtracking' and has lost credibility, circumspection would lead one to realize that since Covid 19 is something absolutely new to the planet, never before dealt with, he made decisions based on what he knew then. His knowledge about it at the beginning was not what it is now; therefore, with new information, his advice has changed. The medical and scientific community didn't know anything about this virus at the beginning and has made ever effort to understand it and deal with it for all our sakes. Using this situation (pandemic) to act out your own delusional conspiracy theory way of looking at things is ludicrous.

What we do know about COVID is that it is similar to the SARS virus that broke out in 2002-03. It's the reason people were assuming it would die off due to summer heat like SARS did. So its not exactly a completely new virus we haven't seen before. I listened to Fauci in the beginning, but I realized after awhile the narrative was all gloom and doom. That coupled with the media, its the reason I tuned out completely of COVID coverage.

I've never been under the belief there's a shortage of antibodies. The reason we have a vaccine to the common flu is because enough got infected that we were able to obtain a cure. It seems like backward thinking. Infect more people to move forward. In fact, it makes sense. More antibodies developed as a result of having the virus will speed up the process of developing a vaccine. That would be the benefit of playing offensively with the virus. The drawback, obviously is a number of deaths would result from doing so. We can't play defensively with this virus, we have to get down into the mud with it. \The reason I am a proponent of herd immunity is because it will form a firewall against the virus, aside from the benefit of speeding up the process of getting a vaccine as I mentioned before with the antibodies. We don't know for a fact if over a million Americans would have to die, there are 100-year old's that have recovered from COVID.

So, it is possible to have herd immunity and not reach a million deaths.

If I were Trump, which thank god I'm not, I would suggest the government play on the offensive, not the defensive. We tried the defensive tactics. Shut down the economy, keep everyone home, flatten the curve, now going forward we have to be more offensive. You have to switch up your game plan eventually. We can't just say stay six feet apart and wear masks and call it a day, and hope it drowns out the virus. We need that firewall herd immunity will award us. We keep saying Sweden is doing a horrible job handling the virus. If Sweden were to achieve herd immunity by not hutting everything down, it would be a model for the US to follow. I'm not clueless about this virus. Again, we have to think out of the box here. Running to the hills with conventional wisdom doesn't apply here.

So at the beginning, when you learned that there would be almost 120 thousand dead in mid June you just turned it off because you thought it was too much "doom and gloom"? Did turning off the TV make it better? Let me check..... 'fraid not!

I guess this is evidence that covering your ears and eyes does not make reality disappear.

What I learned from this was to think for myself, not let Fauci speak on my behalf. That's not to say to dismiss the facts, but if all you did was listen to the worst case scenarios on CNN and MSNBC all the time, and watched these governors speak non-stop, you would end up with the belief that the sky was indeed falling. I don't know a single person who didn't think cases would spike as we reopen, but that's the exact reason why we have to start playing defensive here and seriously start looking at herd immunity as we progress into the fall. We will run in hamster balls continuing to do what we're doing.

What you want to do is NOTHING, and let people die, and you make excuse after excuse after excuse for doing your NOTHING. The economy will stay in either neutral or reverse as long as people like you continue to do NOTHING because people we care about will keep on dying, in periodic waves and spurts, while the slightest least invasive act to promote a better outcome, is turned into a faux cause for governmental 'protest'.

Keep your damn saliva to yourself. We don't want it all over the place causing havoc, because you insist on some quest to normalize indifference. Can I be clearer. Its your saliva, do us the favor by doing the same thing as you would do when your dog craps on someone else's property. Try, just try, to take it with you, instead of leaving it behind.

Doing nothing is what we're doing now, its the reason we're so far away from a vaccine and continuing to see businesses collapse around us. My solutions at least propose a way to get somewhere, instead of running in a hamster ball and expecting a different result.

there is absolutely nothing about wearing a mask and being considerate of other's increase risk that precludes the reopening of businesses or efforts to fund and support medical treatment and vaccine options. We can do both.

I did not stand in the way of medical science or the economy, by putting on a mask that contains the larger particles of my saliva to take with me home. You are doing NOTHING.

Being foolish is not an excuse. Hopefully if foolish behavior causes you to become infected, you won't infect anyone else. Tuning out what you don't like is not very smart.

There's people I know IRL that have tuned Fauci out as well that are like me, not conservative, not far left, because we have become fatigued with the "woe is us" talk instead of any solutions that will actually work. For all I know, I could have been infected but my immune system just kicked in before it could do damage.

Right, by putting on a mask, I'm doing something. I've gone maskless since governors started losing their minds in March, and I haven't had one symptom that would even be flu related. That tells me I'm also not infecting others,, because enough time has passed I can say with confidence I am not asymptomatic. I'm not standing in the way of the economy reopening. There's a reason we need to begin practicing herd immunity, because its the best way of dealing with COVID. Opens the economy much faster than the protocols we have in place now, what I'm suggesting isn't doing nothing, it's doing everything to return to normalcy.

How about before you float ideas from the colon you actually look at feasibility and what is stopping people doing this now?

Basically this idea equates with fairy dust and chlorox but I am not going to do your homework for you. If you want to be take seriously then do some homework for yourself and start with how vaccines are created, the difference between passive and active immunity and most importantly how many people will die before herd immunity is achieved

It does not tell you that you are not infecting others that you are asymptomatic or that you stay asymptomatic Your 'confidence' is immaterial. Keep your saliva to yourself. Nobody else wants it or needs it, any more than they need your urine or feces. You are no different than any other litterbug who throws his trash around for others to deal with, except your 'trash; might hurt and kill people. The economy will not return to normal as long as the quarter of the population most comfortable at brick and mortar shopping etc, can't go to the mall, the theater, the restaurants, the bars, the grocery stores because they are terrified becoming cattle in your herd experiment. We need old people, sick people, people with diabetes, high blood pressure, to dine, to shop, to go to beauticians, to buy tickets to football games, see a show. If you think businesses can sustain that loss and stay in business you are insane.

Because of people like you, we will have to pass laws further regulating businesses and passing even more duties on them to monitor customers behavior or risk sanction and fines increasing their costs so that they can stay open and protect their customer base and the economy, that you will then decry as Big Brother interference in private enterprise.

    This is NOT about YOU!

This is about We the People!

You have no idea at all whether or not you have infected anyone else!

Wear a mask and protect We the People from YOUR saliva!
