Newsom proposes constitutional amendment to restrict gun rights

Newsom may be arrogant, but he is not stupid. He knows it has no chance. This is a campaign stunt to lock in the gullible vote.

 

Pimps such as him should be amenable being sued in his personal capacity under 42 USC 1983 (deprivation of constitutional rights under the color of state law) and criminally prosecuted as well

 

Separate from the issue of the Constitution, in my personal opinion they should be allowed to enforce gun control around Los Angeles and San Francisco.
(provided that the punishments are not too harsh)

The people in those big city areas seem to want to impose their policies on everyone else.

Because if we did that and there is a civil disturbance or invasion that requires use of force for defense, the arms available to The People would nescessarily be inferior to those possessed by any government. The cops are free people too, and no free person should be denied the use of anything.

LOL. So you figured you had a 7+1+1 capacity firearm. One in the chamber, 7 in the mag, and a final overhand toss of the entire firearm. With a little practice the velocity of the final +1 wouldn’t be far off from the first 8 either!

I love 1911’s but they aren’t the best tool for most jobs. A good 1911 with a good trigger sure is easy/fun to shoot though.

 

Famed self defense expert Massad Ayoob calls the 1911 a "black belt gunfighter's weapon". I made what is now grand master in USPSA with one but I think there are many other handguns that are far better for self defense. and modern 9mm ammo is just as effective for self defense

 

I'll stop carrying a 1911 when someone makes a double stacked 38 Super.

 

I carry a SIG 365 these days and a Ka-Bar TDI flipper (sadly discontinued but I bought 6 of them for what should be a life time supply) knife

how's the grip? I ran a Para double stacked (Fred Craig Custom build) in USPSA limited 30 years ago in 45. Had skateboard tape for the grip on one to cut down the width slightly

As an old Artilleryman I like to keep the bad guys as far away as possible. That's why, in the small arms arena, I'm into 308, which outranges 223. As I noted earlier, I carried an 1911 in the Army. I traded it in for an M16 with a 203 since every bad guy on the battlefield could outrange my pistol.
