This I agree with Pelosi on... As long as all branches of government get the same term limits and insider trading is made illegal for politicians and their families.

Would you agree to term limits for all branches of government?

    No... just lifetime appointments....

Basically, anything that doesn't have an election shouldn't have a lifetime appointment..

And P.S. insider trading IS already illegal... for anybody.... just seems to be a lot harder to police for politicians, but some of the dumber ones have been caught (See C. Collins of NY)

The Supreme Court would strike it down 9-0 :)

I generally do not favor term limits. I support age caps though. 75 should be the max age you get to serve public office though I would be fine with it being set at 60 or 65 as well. Too many people with one foot in the grave trying to make the history books as "the first to" instead of making sound policies.

The others have them already, either two, four, or six years. Albeit I suppose the SC does too, life. I’d prefer we’d change it to a definitive amount of years. I do support (ageism I suppose) a strict retirement date as in you can’t seek another term after the age X. We’ve got a minimum age might as well add a maximum age.

Ever since the passage of the 22nd amendment, I’ve been in favor of term limits for congress also. If you limit the number of terms for the president, congress ought to be limited also. Limiting the SCOTUS is something I never thought about. It never entered my mind. One thing you can be certain of, congress would never pass an amendment limiting the number of terms they could serve. One thing different here is the president and congress have terms, the SCOTUS doesn’t. It’s a lifetime appointment, not terms, so there can be no term limits. Now I would suggest a fixed retirement age. A SCOTUS justice could serve until he reaches 65 or 70 or something like that. Then make it apply to the president and congress while repealing the 22nd. That would be term limits by another name.

The more I thought about it, term limits should be applied to all, even the SCOTUS. Age has shown to be a cancer in our institution as it creates a murky, murky swamp.

Term limits and "Age" are 2 different things... What if you are elected to Congress at 25?

I'm in. Term limits for all and sundry.

Also lets put all insider traders in jail and fine them the amount of those trades.

For the Supreme Court, I would support mandatory retirement at age 70. This is how it's done throughout Europe, and it makes sense, IMHO. Beyond that, no, I would not support "term limits" on Supreme Court Justices.

Funny how none of this bothered democrats for the 60+ years they were in charge in the Supreme Court.

    Now suddenly it's broken.

Ironic to hear a career politician talk about term limits. I agree, but its not enough. Once they leave office, they come back as lobbyists.

Sure I don't see why not. Litigation takes a while so maybe something like 10 year terms idk.

    I'm actually in complete agreement.

I think 18 years is a fair term limit for a Supreme Court Justice. That means a justice is replaced every two years, and every President gets to appoint two justice to the court per term, but the justice will be there long after the person who appointed them is gone.

I'd also like term limits on senators and representatives along with severe restrictions on what they can do after leaving office.

Neither of these things will ever happen, and a cuck like Bernie Sanders can amass millions despite never working in the private sector.

It really sounds like a great idea, but, the system seems to work pretty well as is. Pelosi is quite disingenuous with her term limit wish. If you can't get laws passed in Congress or if the courts don't rule in your favor just set term limits. The baby killers in America are besides themselves with the overturning of Roe vs. Wade. For 50 years the right had to live with the ruling of a left Supreme Court which was unconstitutional. I do agree that some judges should never have been selected to the court because they were activist judges instead of Constitutionalists. If anything, where I believe, term limits should be looked at, it would be, at the house of representiives. I think a revolving
1/3 of the House should be up for election every 2 years like the Senate with each Representative serving 6 years with a maximum limit of 2 terms. This would give the people more say in their government. Senators would still have 6 yr terms but be limited to 3 terms. The President would have one six or eight year term. This way they wouldn't have to spend so much time raising money for re-election.

Right now the current supreme Court having been nominated mostly through sanity is the last functioning branch of government.

All the democratic nominees have been proven to be virtue slinging garbage.

You know as well as anyone on these forums, that is bullshit. Its the Fox guarding the hen house and their "Stock Act" was mere lipstick on a pig.

78 members of Congress have violated a law designed to prevent insider trading and stop conflicts-of-interest
Remember when 60 minutes used to be decent?

Our politicians do not have to abide by the same insider trading laws as common citizens. If you or I did what many (Nancy Pelosi one of the biggest infiltrators) have done, we wouldn't have the luxury of a mere $200 fine... It would be a substantial fine, if not jail time. That is an unadulterated fact!

Lobbyist should also be illegal. They are the proof that politicians are bought and paid for.

The STOCKAct is a joke.... Collins pleaded guilty to the same old conspiracy to commit securities fraud that you and I are subject to.

To be clear, I'd have zero problem if all members of Congress and their families couldn't trade individual stocks during their terms... period.
