Donald Trump remains far behind the curve on staffing his administration. True to form, Trump blames everybody but himself, railing against Democrats for stalling his nominees. But the truth is, his problems are of his own making. #1, most people with actual government experience don't want to work for him, because he is a backstabbing, disorganized nightmare who is transparently out of his depth. Exhibit A: The delays in getting Trump's nominees confirmed are almost entirely due to Trump being slow to nominate people, and then his administration being slow to produce the paperwork necessary for the nomination to be considered by the Senate. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/06/06/trump-administration-nominees-paperwork-239124 Exhibit B: Trump has failed to nominate a SINGLE U.S. attorney to replace the ones he abruptly fired three months ago, leaving him with NO U.S. attorneys. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/06/opinion/us-attorneys-trump.html Exhibit C: Trump is even having trouble finding lawyers to represent him with the Russia investigation, with four top law firms turning down the job: https://www.yahoo.com/news/four-top-law-firms-turned-requests-represent-trump-122423972.html Why? Because Trump is an undisciplined nightmare who won't listen to advice and constantly sends out tweets that undermine his own case. Plus his history of leaving unpaid bills. Exhibit D: The latest example of Trump's backstabbing nature? Faced with issues around the Russia investigation, Trump blames ... Jeff Sessions, the most lap-dog Attorney General in decades. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/05/us/politics/trump-discontent-attorney-general-jeff-sessions.html When will Trump supporters accept that the problem isn't everybody else, it's Trump?
But but but - think of all the money he is saving in salaries!!!! You know he has not even filled Ambassadorial positions yet!
There is plenty of people that would work for him on here. The left gave Obama and Bill free passes on everything for 16 years so it's laughable that they would complain about every single thing Trump does.
Note the "competent" qualifier I used. Pretty much nobody on this board, myself included, is qualified to serve as a presidential appointee. Clearly you missed the attacks on both Obama and Bill from the left.
Even the rock-ribbed conservative WSJ editorial board has had enough: https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-buck-stops-everywhere-else-1496705412 Trump is an undisciplined child whose incompetence and pettiness are doing real damage to the United States.
Anybody who wants a future in politics beyond 2020 would be crazy to work for Trump. Taking a position in that IMBECILE'S Administration is considered career suicide. In other words, how did things work out for Goering, Goebbels and Himmler?
Yes. Note the link in the OP on that score. They are mostly being held up by Trump's failure to submit the required paperwork.
Great, you're as unqualified as the rest of the idiots he has employed so far, so no change there then!
You actually need someone qualified for those positions AND the positions themselves must be advertised and or offered to someone. Did you not read the OP?
Needs repeating This is not just about failure of the system this is about failure of the administration
Yes, there have been a number of stories outlining how far behind the Trump administration is, and it is woefully behind. The other day Trump issued the typical "it's the Democrats fault" however, IT ISN"T. He either hasn't nominated people and/or hasn't got nominees prepped (paperwork, clearances etc.). I wouldn't look at this so much as saving money as I would having an organization that will be woefully behind the 8 ball, especially if & when the crap hits the fan. Departments of State, Defense, Treasury & Justice are way behind in the nominee process. Trump has to layoff Twitter long enough to hire some people. Too bad he waited so long, it's likely the pool of qualified help has shrunk over the last 4+ months,
This feels like less of a 'Of course Trump is failing *haha*' moment and more like a real time issue if we face any huge crises. I can't find anything clear. Does someone have a breakdown of what level disasters we're equipped to handle/or not given the current staffing?
Been a concern since the inauguration: http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/donald-trump-national-security-crisis-233732 http://www.politico.com/story/2017/...risis-with-a-staff-marked-by-vacancies-238423 https://www.washingtonpost.com/blog...affing-the-government/?utm_term=.bb5c6bf1b9cd
And you are qualified to fill what appoint/consent position? Oh wait, of course, qualifications not necessary. Are you saying you are one of the "best and smartest" people to do the job? given the track record so far, he hasn't made many of those. Hell he hired a known foreign agent as his NSA and then had to get an active military general to fill the slot because the retired guy he wanted came out of the interview and said "I don't want to eat that **** sandwich" or words to that effect.
