Bad news?,,,come on Dan have you forgotten how many times Obama would lose if the election was held on other days? LOL,,,,,So Obama finally gets a boost because the Repubs are beating each other up, did Obama pull ahead because of all the wonderful things he's done?
It will shift again my friend, and starting with the Health Care defeat...Just watch his polls then...

i think it's possible that might motivate many of the 'have nots' to vote against opponents of the affordable care act

I should know better than to think that you might be able to understand the point.

We do not allow minors into the army.

Reagan was not conservative by any means, he was a very nice man, however the facts of what went on just have never jelled with me. The last true conservative might have been Eisenhower. Republicans might have more credability if they mentioned his name as a conservative than Reagan. Regan ran huge deficits, armed countries we are fighting with, and allowed amnisty. I wasnt alive when Eisenhower was president, but he had balanced budget a couple times, just all aound a very level headed President. Reagan was a neocon ( I dont mean that in a a bad way) it was his belief system in play. I was very young when Reagan was President and I can recall asking how future generations were going to pay for everything that he did.

The Republican Party as a whole is damaged goods. They are very weak when it comes to Foreign Policy, very weak on the economy, and the last three Republican Presidents have been horrible with budgets. However, both parties have been terrible.

I like Obama. Has he done the best job no, has he done a bad job no. We just live in a fairyland of polotics and it is highly volatile. Facts are not used, but the made up junk on both sides seem to be what is feeding the loud mouths.

sorry in advance for type o's wrote this real quick!

You're being a bit disinginueous about the FY 2009 budget. Bush never signed that budget. Congress wouldn't send it to him to sign. Obama actually signed the 2009 budget in March of 2009. And he voted for the budget while in the senate. More to the point, there was no Republican support for the budget.

No matter how you slice it, this was Obama's budget.

Would you please STOP your utter desperate attempts to makes excuses for this incompetent idiot clown obama.

And try TRUTH for a change.

    Bush took office 1/20/2001.
    Bush left office 1/20/2009
    b.o. took office 1/20/2009

WHEN do we start counting obama's term? YESTERDAY?? NEXT WEEK? 2020?? Does the incompetent NEED a pass to cover his ass? Obviously with the endless excuses obamabots make for him.

When was the STIMULUS passed?? 2/17/2009. $800 billion, NOT in any budget.
The FY 2009 deficit of $1.413 TRILLION was posted on 09/30/2009, NINE MONTHS AFTER the idiot liar took office. He did not "inherit" a $1.4 trillion deficit. the clown fool obama racked up $800 billion of deficit with the Stimulus in 2/2009, one month in and he racks up a higher deficit than the Republicans EVER had in history. JUST the Stimulus. The FAILED Stimulus, $800 billion WASTED FOR NOTHING!
b.o. was president on 1/20/2009 with all the ROYAL POWERS you keep trying to assign to Bush.

These are his actual, OFFICIAL, results!

    http://www.treasurydirect.gov

    National debt 1/20/2001-$5,727,776,738,304.64
National debt 1/20/2009-$10,626,877,048,913.08 + $4,899,100,310,608.44,,,96 months, you do the math.
National debt 3/29/2012-$15,579,852,946,457.64 +$4,952,975,897,544.56,,,38 months, you do the math.

Here's another one you'll just love from the same Treasury source.

    National debt on 09/30/2007, $9,007,653,372,262.48
    National debt on 03/29/2012, $15,579,852,946,457.64

9/30/2007 was the end of the last FY with Republicans in charge of Congress and BUDGETS. Look it up, the president is required to submit a budget PROPOSAL. Congress has no requirement to even look at it.

Difference between the start of FY 2008 and last week, $6.572 TRILLION,,Since 10/01/2008!

It was $9.007 trillion after 231 years of the USA. FOUR YEARS AND FIVE MONTHS LATER. $6.6 TRILLION HAS BEEN ADDED,,,73% INCREASE.

    231 years $9.007 trillion
    235 years $15.5 trillion.
INEXCUSABLE by any rational OR IRRATIONAL measure!

Bush did sign the 2009 Budget ? .. I think you may be thinking of the "omnibus bill" that came when Obama was in office.

When you get down to the nuts and bolts there was only a small portion of the 2009 Budget that can be attributed to Obama. 500 Billion out of 3.6 in spending and given the circumstances (needing to save car makers and so forth) it is understandable.

You do not seem to understand how budget money is allocated.

When a new President comes into office the money for the year has already been allocated. It is not like he goes back and makes changes to that allocation.

See the link provided in the previous post. In particular check out the "Growth in Federal Outlays by President".

You will find that Bush increased spending more than any other President going back to Carter.

Again, Bush did not sign the FY 2009 budget. The 2009 Omnibus bill that Obama signed was the 2009 budget bill.

Since Obama both voted for the bill as a Senator and signed the bill as President, I think it can be fairly attributed to being his responsibility.

You do not understand that minors can not serve in the army which is a very simple concept.

Your claim that you understood my point about utilitarianism is clearly not on solid ground.

Because you have shown no evidence of understanding.

    For example:

Your discussion has not included when utilitarianism should over-ride the Bill of Rights and when it should not .. and why.

Anyone could use a link from this site to "prove" either way. Blogs aren't links to PROOF or TRUTH.

    The FY 2009 "budget was:

Public Law 111 - 8 - Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009. signed March 11, 2009. NOT by GW Bush.

I understand perfectly how money is allocated. Do you have an accounting degree? I do. What you don't understand is how money is spent. Simple question with a simple answer. Was the Stimulus included in Bush's budget?

Simple answer. THERE is $800 billion of the $1.4 trillion. And revenue was off $450 billion.

Stop making excuses for the slob in charge.
1/21/2009 Democrats control spending and the White House. They can make any changes they wish to make. The Federal budget is non-binding. No past Congress may hold a future Congress to its decisions.

    1/20/2009 ON, its 100% obama/Democrats responsibility.

Fair enough ... A blog is a blog even if it is well written which this one was.

This still does not help your argument though.

I have granted that a portion of the 2009 spending is on Obama's shoulders.

Your claim that 2009 was "all Obama" and Bush had nothing to do with any 2009 spending is just not accurate.

LOL .. like one needs an accounting degree to read a balance sheet.

I do have a Masters in Science and a math minor. Does that not count ?
Oh .. and I also have the ability to read and took a bunch of Philosophy classes so I can look at both sides of an argument .. something you are obviously lacking.

I have not made excuses for the slob in charge .. I just have no patience for the patent idiocy of blaming any President for mistakes of the previous administration.

I am a fiscal Conservative .. Your claim that Bush was "innocent" since 2007 is patently absurd.

Nice response to half the post ... as usual you have wandered into the tulip patch.

Try again and this time perhaps try and say something that shows you have an understanding of the point.

Public Law 111 - 8 - Omnibus Appropriations Act, 2009. signed March 11, 2009. NOT by GW Bush.

When the president, OBAMA, Signed the FY 2009 budget on MARCH 11, 2009.

    Bush was not in residence.

Of the $1,412,700,000,000.00 FY 2009 Democrat DEFICIT. president G.W. Bush approved exactly,,,,,,,,,,,
    $00.00 of it.
Democrat Congress/obama are to BLAME for every penny of that RECORD HIGH deficit. $1 trillion higher, exactly, than the highest ever Republican deficit.

Take your brain out and have it cleaned, it is filled with liberal lies.

obama is "THE EXCUSE" of a president because seemingly otherwise intelligent people keep making excuse for his constant failures and malfeasance. WAKE UP.

On another thread I listed the BEST PRESIDENTS IN MY LIFETIME. Truman and Clinton were on that best list. Nixon and Bush were on my worst list. b.o. headed the worst list.

If obama was a good president I would not criticize him because I'm a Republican, because I'm not and never have been a Republican. And I'm not racist either. I criticize b.o. because by EVERY measure, including some posted on this thread,. HE is the worst failure of a president in history.

In the last 2 or3 decades it is the Republicans that have been more beneficial to this nation. More beneficial by damaging it much LESS than the Democrats.

Liberals keep saying obama is good because Bush was bad. That is asinine nonsense.

The Republicans are not "good." But they are much better than the Democrats,,,,,,,,,lately.

I have already granted that Obama is responsible for the Omnibus bill.

It is the rest of the spending that is in question.

    You completely ignored this fact.

Your claim that the Obama admin was somehow responsible for every penny spend absolute nonsense.

How did the country operate from October 2008 to February 2009?

FOOLISH QUESTION and extremely sad if you don't actually know the answer.

Continuing Resolutions. Whenever a budget is not passed, like the Democrats have not done again since that 3/2009 bill, a Continuing Resolution is passed to fund whatever segment of government is running out of funds. Whoever is president signs the continuing resolution OR that or those segments of the government SHUT DOWN.

Congress says, "WE passed the bill, the president wouldn't sign it." "Its his fault you didn't get your pension check, Social Security check, pay check, new fighter jet, whatever."

Stop GAP funding, A fiscally irresponsible way to run a Congress.

1110 days tomorrow since a Democrat controlled Congressional body has passed a budget. And the one they passed in 3/2009 SHOULD have been passed in 4/2008. They would not pass Bush's budget, Bush would not sign their budget. And they have never passed an obama budget either. Not when the Democrats had control and not with a split Congress.

This I don't know or care enough to research, but I wonder how many presidents NEVER had one of their budgets passed by either party? Obama has not had one passed.

Not sure what you meant by the part I ignored. If you research "The President's Budget" you get things like that. They [intentionally?] leave out the word PROPOSAL.

Go to the White House site look up budget. You'll find obama's budget PROPOSAL, laid out like it is the budget in effect. Wiki does the same.

Without the PUBLIC LAW # and date, it is a work of fiction.
