I don't agree with some things SCOTUS did or does--like Roe v. Wade.

"Draw the line" on what? I would have a national firearms license that entitles you to posses, buy and sell firearms. Registry? No. Waiting period? No. I would make using a firearm to attack or rob people a serious jailing offense. Senile, mentally ill, child--you're not permitted to have firearms.

When 3-D printers can make reliable firearms, the ship has sailed on gun grabbing. We should go after people who use firearms to assault and rob others. Fill up our jails with these people, not pot users.

 

Funny how the country isn't any safer despite the dramatically higher proportion of guns per capita. It's almost as if it makes no difference on average, except of course to get a lot more people killed overall.

Without guns, America as we know it wouldn't exist.
Imagine how different it would be if the first European invaders to the Americas were met with firearms instead of arrows and spears.
No genocide of the native peoples, no stealing their lands and forcing the few survivors into reservations etc.

 

Great point, and imagine how things would have been different for the Black people in our country if they had always been permitted to exercise their right to bear arms. Without the White slaveowner's monopoly on violence chattel slavery would never have existed in Colonial America and the United States.

Yes. No sense in creating black markets which incentivize "bad guys" to use guns and bring about more situations where people feel a need to protect themselves.

Gun ownership is a good thing because its recreational, fun competitive and reloading is the most relaxing thing you get do... better even than boating.
