Glad they didn't get into the nuclear weapons, but who knows what all they stole.

I know there's already a thread on the hack, but because of the serious nature of this aspect of the hack I thought I should share it for everyone not active in that thread.

"At this point, the investigation has found that the malware has been isolated to business networks only, and has not impacted the mission essential national security functions of the Department, including the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)."

The CEOs of software companies have been warning the last three administrations that they needed to be spending as much money on
protecting communication systems as the do on tanks and ships. Trump was another typical politician and dropped the ball, just like Obama and Bush.

In the case of Donnie did he as some of the people have intimated drop the ball on "purpose"? I would hope not but Donnie refuses to stand up to Putin so could it be true? I hope not. I hope that no POTUS is or ever will be a Benedict Arnold.

PDD -63 I believe was issued by Clinton. I have attached a link to this document and I recommend people read it if they have not do so. Bush, Obama, and Trump dropped the ball as you say.

I’m thinking the Trump/Putin cyber security unit was a bad idea

Thanks for reminder. I recall hearing about this. Obviously Putin put another Con over on Conman Jr. You guys must know that cyber security was guarded by Putin of course his student failed the course in cyber security. Trump never should have taken courses in his own fake university whatever it was called. Oh yes F.F.U. Fraud Fake University.

^^^ This is a fair assessment.

I can't go into this thread any further due to my work.

Cyber penetrations / "attacks", like spying, is something that all major powers do. I don't understand getting all that worked up about something that we're all at least vaguely aware that we (USA.gov) are doing right back at our geopolitical adversaries. It feels too much like pearl clutching when we catch someone doing it and feign outrage.

I'd welcome any reasoned opinions on why my view on this matter is wrong, and why I should be terribly upset by this.

It's not wrong, they just want to gripe about Trump.

I could almost guarantee you that China and Russia face incessant Hacking, they just don't announce it to the world, they keep it under spy stuff.

We all know lots of people will have to die before something gets done.

Hacking of Government Sensitive but Unclassified IT systems has been going on for some time, i.e., during the Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations. Are any Senior Executives responsible for these hacked systems ever held accountable, e.g., reprimanded or fired. Or are they often promoted?

Those who have worked in the Federal Government know the answer.

The Federal framework for Sensitive But Unclassified systems is based on risk mitigation/management and risk acceptance. Controls are designed for an information system and tested using a complex Federal methodology. This process determines the "residual risk" for system operation -- which is then signed off on, i.e., accepted by the system owner for a system to operate. The problem IMHO is there is never any apparent risk to the career of a manager for accepting risk in the Federal Government. With all of these Federal hacking stories we all have seen can anyone name a Government manager who has been fired, reprimanded, down graded, or suffered a loss of yearly executive "merit" pay.

If the authorizing official, after reviewing the authorization package and any additional inputs provided by the risk executive (function), deems that the risk to organizational operations and assets, individuals, other organizations, and the Nation is acceptable, an authorization to operate is issued for the information system

What makes you think that "they" didn't get into the nuclear weapons?

Its pretty likely we will never know, even if a nuke is triggered above a US city.
