Jonathan Gruber, the architect of Obamacare, not only thinks the American people are stupid, but admits that lack of transparency is what it took to get their votes in support of Obamacare.
So stupidity, and the lack of knowing what was in it, is the only reason it got passed ?

Sure, most of us knew this, but how many of us expected an admission ?

"This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. Okay, so it’s written to do that. In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in – you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed… Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical for the thing to pass".

stupidity is always required, to think that something can be had for no effort or resources being used.

Stupid and greedy. They traded their votes to get something for nothing.

That right there, possibly more than any little quip I've heard, sums up the 0bama presidency. Stupid people, stupid voters. And yes, stupid law.

Congress didn't even read it because it was so convoluted. It certainly is a boondoggle and needs to be scrapped. The American people never supported it, and Democrats who voted for it were ousted by a smarter electorate. For the next 2 years, assume Obama will lie about everything.

I think he meant something for nothing.
That seemed to be a lot of the mindset we saw the last couple elections.
Not every Obama supporter, of course... but there was more than one Messiah's share of "obama is going to pay off my mortgage"/"I get a free obamaphone" people on the Youtube/Late Night/etc video footage.

What they got is close to nothing, for a lot of something.. as you mentioned.

Marxists refer to them as useful idiots.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Useful_idiot

The implication was that, although the people in question naïvely thought of themselves as standing for a benign socialist ideological cause, and as valued allies of the Soviet Union, they were actually held in contempt and were being cynically used by the Communist Party of Soviet Union for subversive activities in their native Western countries.

Also critical for the thing to pass was a hugely in-the-tank-for-Obama-and-the-Dem-Party-leadership Mainstream Media that accepted without examination ALL of Nancy Pelosi's, Harry Reid's, Barack Obama's blatant LIES about what the bill was and what it would do and what it was intended to do. That very definitely helped prevent the average voter from knowing precisely why it was a bad bill but -- as it turned out -- did not prevent them from twice making their growing rage evident in the nature of two mid term election results. Both times the voters angrily put their foot on the neck of the Dem Party leadership and pressed down hard.

Well, since it was universally rejected by the Republicans, it is only the voters who support the democrats that were stupid.

Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic house had a different plan, one that included a public option, what liberals really wanted. The Senate took a different route, a plan that was more inline with Republican ideas so they could get it out of committee and voted on. Irregardless, the intent of the Affordable Care Act was to make health care more affordable for the government, thus for everyone that pays taxes. Turns out Republicans are more interested in hating the opposition then doing good for the country.

That is truly pitiful but I suppose it helps you sleep better at night. Unfortunately, for you, are the Democrats in the House who bragged this was just the forst step to single-payer government-provided healthcare.

The Democrats had the House, the Senate, and the White House. They got exactly what they wanted. When confronted with the fact that most Americans didn't want their "plan" she said they--the liberals--didn't care if nobody wanted it. They would have passed it anyway. Isn't it horrible when the truth slips out.

    So, liberals own Obamacare. Enjoy.

If you all think the ACA is a mess wait. If by any strange chance it actually gets repealed the health care situation will get infinitely worse than it is now.

Repealing the ACA will not actually return America to the 1970's no matter how hard the Republicans try.

I know no one who is paying less for their insurance.
Granted, I don't know any homeless or welfare leeches (Obama's voter base), but I do know a lot of people who are paying around 30% higher premiums, while their deductibles have doubled. I also know a couple business owners who are taking the fine instead of the Obamacare costs... because... they can't afford the new costs and the fine is cheaper.

The price of being in business went up.... just like the premiums of employed people around the country.

    The left voted this in.
Trying to blame the Right is ridiculous, and overdone.

We have to pass the bill before we will tell you what's in it.

So give us your projections of what will happen should the ACA be repealed or can't you think that far ahead?

    - - - Updated - - -

Sort of like we have to repeal the law before we tell you what we will put in it's place!
