You go ahead and compare apples with pears.
It's still torturing to death a tied up inmate.

    Aww boo hoo

Rapist doesn't die a peaceful painless death. Forgive me if I fail to give a (*)(*)(*)(*).

We need somebody to be the guinea pig for experimental death drugs, might as well make it those who are condemned to death. Consider this a good thing, now people see that the drugs don't work quite as well so they can tweak them a bit and try again next time. Keep on experimenting until we can kill murderers painlessly and peacefully because thats what they deserve afterall right? But by all means feel free to keep getting the mixture wrong and let them see just how it felt to brutally rape and murder somebody before they die.

Lethal injection costs too much money anyway. Take them out back with a shotgun, that costs pennies. This way we can make sure Mr. Rapist and Murderer doesn't feel any pain when he dies.

    Sound good?

Why do you think it was torture? Smashing his joints one at a time would be torture. Lighting a fire under his hands, one at a time, of course, would be torture. Having an unconscious body in death rattles for 20 minutes? Not so much.

Apparently lethal injection is just as violent since they experience pain and start convulsing. And it's not like you need a 45 to get the job done and spray brains all over the place. There are smaller calibers capable of a clean and quick death.

And as far as showing it on tv, I've actually had that idea for that for extra revenue. Make it a PPV event with all the proceeds going to the school system for supplies and food, or to help feed the homeless. Just a thought.

Honestly if I had my way all those on death row would be in an arena match, thunder dome style. The winner lives out his remaining days in prison. I know that's way out there, but I really have no remorse or care for the well being of those who commit extreme offenses against innocent people. I am speaking about those who are truly guilty of course as I do realize there are those wrongfully convicted still.

We wouldn't have any of these problems if our society wasn't so hell bent on trying to find a painless and peaceful way to kill convicted capital felons.

If people truely cared about not hurting these people when killing them then they'd be advocating for a firing squad. But thats a no no so we have to spend thousands of dollars on putting them to sleep instead.

Seriously what's the big problem with just shooting people in the head? Do we think that's barbaric or something?

I am very liberal on most things, however I do support the DP.

mode of execution has always miffed me a bit. I know they want to make it humane and everything, quick and painless... but seriously. A .45 to the skull would likely be a much quicker, simpler and painless way to do it than these fancy injections.

The only drawback is the mess.

They don't even have to have a person pull the trigger. Just put the person in a harness, maybe give them a small tranquilizer, and have the gun hooked up to a machine that can be activated remotely.

Your empathy for a murder that was convicted by the people to death. This is a huge issue for you. But however what does it matter why innocent Americans were killed? Right. Such messed up logic.

:smile:Yea right. And its still beyond torturing to death what that girl and her baby had to go through. Tell you what. You go ahead and support that losy criminal and I will support that poor lady and her baby. If you don't like it then go ahead and join that criminal...just be careful...for sure he wouldn't have given a * * * * about you.

No need to tie them up. Make a modern Gladiator games. The winner get to move to the end of the line and fight again after every other death row inmate fights first. The Government makes the book and uses the proceeds to reduce the National Debt.

Not arguing the death penalty. I'm arguing the means by which said ridding is applied.

Sure... which doesn't need to involved "killing in the same manner the convicted has killed", which was precisely the conversation you entered.

So some pretend "libertarians" can't figure out the difference between murdering the innocent and executing those guily of murdering the innocent.

There's no special reason why California should not, tomorrow, execute Jose Avilla, who kidnapped (snatched off the street in front of her house and her best friend), raped (do you need a picture...ask Clinton's husband for a sketch), and murdered five year old Samantha Runnion. His bodily fluids were found in his victims body. His skin was found under his victims finger nails. His victims DNA was found in his car. There were prints of the tires of that car at the site where the little girl's body was dumped.

After a completely 100% certain verdict in a case like that, NOT ONE taxpayer dollar should be spent on appeals, and not one taxpayer dollar should be spent on keeping him alive in prison after a reasonable time has passed for his execution. Which would be roughly no more than thirty days from his sentencing.

YOU want that person kept alive.

    Why?

    Not remotely.

Hook the trigger mechanism up to a slot machine, a real mechanical one, and when it comes up three skulls, the gun goes off five seconds later.

Have only two skulls on the machine and let the bastard die of thirst.

Firing squads are too inaccurate. Simply tie it into a chair and tie a quarter pound of C4 to his neck, with a random timer to go off after the humans leave the room. Can't get any more painless than that.

Why not just follow the script and use New York City?

They RUINED the Lord of The Rings with that trash movie they made. What are you planning to do to Snake Bliscom?

Because according to Liberals, even with overwhelming evidence, he can still be innocent. You see the cops could've tempered with all the DNA and framed the guy....there are so many reason to spend so much time framing a nobody for a murder you see....happens all the time since no one on death row is actually guilty=) They're all innocent on Death row. Just ask them themselves. They'll tell you how innocent they are. We'll spend who knows how much money keeping him alive for another 20 yrs probably, when a .22 that costs pennies is all it takes now.

No evidence at all he experienced pain and the natural gasping that occurs as with sleep apnea is now torture?

Yeah but a 45 is just better insurance.

Just use it to reimburse the cost of the interment, appeals and executions. Take that argument away for the pro-killer side.

its still violent if you think about it to watch a body, conscious or not, squirm and fight for its life . Violent doesnt have to be bloody and torture ranges from both physical and visual. Im pretty sure if you knew you were gonna be put down with your body flailing like a fish out of water would be mental torture no? it would be very unnerving knowing such a thing. And in the end truly only you is gonna know if you feel anything or not.

but once again i could care less if those kinds of criminals suffer, to me it was harshly earned to go through pain and suiffering before they die.

true, but if you want that just have a SEAL sniper blow their damned heads off with a 50cal and be done with it. Messy as hell but at the same time it will be over before the person knows it lol.

    true.

I already did. Here are 7.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrongful_execution

With 143 people on death row waiting to be executed being cleared of their crimes, it's logical to think that at least some innocent people have been put to death.

there is no doubt a number of innocent people have been executed...even in canada there have been murder convictions definitively overturned on dna evidence, I can recall five separate cases...fortunetly we haven't had a death penalty since the mid 60's....the longest sentence served by the wrongfully convicted was 23 years, a travesty but at least he still had his life...

Still if the death penalty is use its difficult to understand not having an effective quick method...decapitation, instantaneous...H2S instantaeous at 1000 ppm

How about curbside executions? Or beheadings are supposed to be swift and painless. Perhaps the Chinese way-A bullet to the brain and charge the offender's family for the bullet. Or instead of supporting the criminal for years during an appeal, just turn him over to the family of his victim after a guilty verdict. For those of you that may remember Richard Speck (killed 8 Phillipino nurses), at every one of his parole hearings (yes, for some reason they had them then) there were at least 4 members of the family or friends of theirs just waiting for him to get turned loose. Needless to say, he never would have been heard from again, hopefully subjected to one of the ways they would deal with Japanese prisoners, by staking them over a plot of young bamboo and leave them while the stuff kept growing-right through their body.
    Enjoy!

People like you are what I call "Consitutional Rapists." You may call yourself a "Progressive" or whatever, but the facts still remain that you hold your finger up to test the political winds and climate, then base your interpetration on what a law now means to you today.

I am an "Originalist" and base what a law entails by its original meaning, intent AND common application at the time it was created.

Those who grossly misinterpret and change the law to suit their radical beliefs can thank Justice Earl Warren who said this about the 8 th Amendment:

“the Amendment must draw its meaning from the evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society.”

Warren never gave one hoot in hell about the Founding Fathers or their views on the Constitution. Progessives and those who sodomize and distort the laws that made the US great (at least until the liberal Dems began to destroy the nation 50 years ago) believe they have the right to bypass the people, the legislative process and the law to achieve their goals. The ends justify the means---so you think.

Anyone can point out that criminal scum like McGuire would have been properly tried and then properly hung in a fair and speedy manner back in 1789 New England.

Cruel and unsual punishment back when the law was written meant: no gratuitous torture, flailing (whipping is fine), keelhauling, dunking or similar punishments. Hanging and death by firing squad were acceptied punishmentsof the day---as they should be today in every state that allows it.

Like almost all the Founders, I believe hanging to be the very best, most quick and sure way to execute violent felons like McGuire, traitors and other terroritst types. If you were to ask any of those who had a hand in writing the 8th Amendment if they though the 15 minutes it took to for someone to die of lethal injection to be cruel or unusual, all would probably so no, and wonder why a quick and sure rope was not used instead.
