Ethnic Russians appeared in Crimea in 1783, when Russia won back Crimea from Turkey.
In 1991, when Ukraine had separated from Russia, it was a million Russians in Crimea. (More than half of all residents). Now the same thing.
You have no reason to call them as rebels.

Stepan Bandera was born in Western Ukraine in 1909. While Western Ukraine was part of the Austro Hungarian.
Since 1921, Western Ukraine was a part of Poland.
Therefore Bandera and his fellow Nazis wanted disconnect the Western Ukraine from Poland and to make an independent state of Ukraine.
