Just to note for the thread. The US is not even in the top 10 countries for total cases per 1mil (ranked 14) or deaths per 1 mil (ranked 11). Funny how you don't see that in any of the media outlets. Yet we're supposed to be the worst if you listen to the media? Of course China should be discarded. Their numbers are simply unbelievable. I mean come on, their population is over 1.4 billion people and they expect us to believe they've only had 86 thousand cases? Out of 160 million tests conducted? Pfft. After almost a year of COVID-19, we have now today reached around 1.3 million deaths worldwide.

The last pandemic to hit this number was the Spanish flu at the end of World War I ... which should actually be called American flu because the starting point was Kansas.

One can only hope that the vaccines will come quickly and that they will really be useful ... also that research will continue, because viruses like to mutate and then the old vaccine is no longer really useful and a successor is needed!

AND ABOVE ALL ... hopefully the world has learned from this, because there are many more potential pandemic viruses slumbering in the world, and against some, COVID-19 is just a laughing stock when it comes to lethality. And something like this is only possible together and coordinating something like that together, that was and is the task of the WHO ... yes, exactly the same WHO who was made by Trump to be the scapegoat for his own ineptitude and incompetence and where the most crazy and idiotic conspiracy theories aremilling around!

As far as media coverage is concerned, as well as the rankings on whatever basis, it is always a matter of interpretation. Statistics is always a game with numbers and it is a queston how to rate correctly or even what comparison is correct at least?

A simple example, my country (Germany) compared to the USA in terms of Corona?

US population 2019 = 328 million
Population of Germany 2019 = 83 million.

So the USA has almost four times as many inhabitants as Germany.

Total number of corona infected USA as of today since the outbreak: 11.4 million cases!
Total number of Corona infected Germany as of today since the outbreak: almost 844,000 cases!

So the USA has almost fourteen times as many Corona cases as Germany, by only 4 times as many people!

Number of all corona who died of Corona in the USA as of today: 248,462 deaths
Number of all those who died of Corona in Germany as of today: 13,138 deaths

So the USA has almost nearly nineteen times as many Corona deaths as Germany ... by only 4 times as many people in total!

A look at these bare figures and this overview clearly shows that something is done differently and better in Germany than in the USA, isn't it?
But that's not (for me) the point ... something like that is just a ridiculous and superfluous BS game about "we are better than you"!

Let's take your statistical numbers ...

Number of infected per 1 million population ...
USA = 34,756 people
Germany = 10,169 people

So now SUDDENLY only around 3 times as many people and not 14 times as many!

Number of deaths per 1 million inhabitants ...
USA = 758 people
Germany = 158 people

So now SUDDENLY just 5 times as many dead and not around 19 times as many

Both models are based on the same numbers, but more than significantly different results and evaluations, eh?

The $ 1 Million Question: Which of the Two Models is Better in matter of showing the real truth, eh?
