    Simple.

She is an idiot that uses cheap soundbites and really bad right wing rhetoric. Her "plans" have the depth of a shallow puddle. Her shoving of her alleged morals down the throat of the public is repugnant. She is a shrill and vindictive person who likes to fling e-poo from the safety of Twitter and Facebook.

The Supreme Court ruled that "liberty" includes abortion, which is very subjective and is not a clear black and white issue (although it is certainly clear that this was never the original intent, but that's irrelevant). It seems to be more constitutional to leave the issue of abortion to the states.

How was she going to get these gold and silver coins? It specifically says that states cannot coin money in that same section. The federal government is violating the Constitution by printing paper money to begin with, so that's a fault of them, not the states.

Maybe because a one ounce Silver Eagle only has a 'face value' of one dollar, but the cost of these coins is tied to the market price of silver. Same with gold coins. The 'face value' for a one ounce Gold Eagle is $20. No one is dumb enough to pay a dollar in debt with a coin worth multiples of that.

No arguments from me. Personal partnerships (marriage) should be a matter of contract law as that is what they really are without dicriminatory government intervensionism and social engineering.

Does Sarah Palin support the ending of the legal instittution of marriage which would then leave it exclusively a matter of contract law?

According to US law the government considers a $50 Federal Reserve note and a $50 American Gold Eagle to be identical. Both are legal tender under Title 31 and while they have different values in the marketplace as far as the government is concerned $50 is $50 regardless of whether it's a Federal Reserve note or an American Gold Eagle. A Federal Reserve note is actually a promissory note redeemable in a $50 American Gold Eagle under Title 12 which is why it has $50 printed on it.

Palin is so 2010. Move on, she's got nothing to offer (other than laughs, of course).

It should really come as no surprise that there are a lot of people who support Palin, Bachmann et.al. because they are just as smart as them.

It is astounding that being photogenic and able to memorize bumpersticker slogans, demonstrate a love of the lord and use patriotic jingoistic claptrap with absolutely no intellectual depth could get you elected president of the United States.

The only notes that were redeemable for gold were the gold certificates printed from 1982-1933.

The gold certificate was used from 1882 to 1933 in the United States as a form of paper currency. Each certificate gave its holder title to its corresponding amount of gold coin. Therefore, this type of paper currency was intended to represent actual gold coinage. In 1933 the practice of redeeming these notes for gold coins was ended by the U.S. government and until 1964 it was actually illegal to possess these notes. (In 1964 these restrictions were lifted, primarily to allow collectors to own examples legally; however the issue technically converted to standard 'legal tender' with no connection to gold.)

Silver certificates were issued from 1878-1964.

Silver Certificates are a type of representative money printed from 1878 to 1964 in the United States as part of its circulation of paper currency. They were produced in response to silver agitation by citizens who were angered by the Fourth Coinage Act, which had effectively placed the United States on a gold standard. The certificates were initially redeemable in the same face value of silver dollar coins, and later in raw silver bullion. Since 1968 they have been redeemable only in Federal Reserve Notes and are thus obsolete, but are still valid legal tender.

Edit...my mistake in saying earlier that a 1 oz gold eagle had a $20 face value.

Neither of the bimbos you have accurately defined will be elected. In fact their nomination will guarantee a landslide victory for Obama. Fortunately a majority of the American people are intelligent.

I agree with your first sentence. Your second sentence, not so much. I think H.L. Mencken had some famous words on this subject.

    FINN,

The Negros, Latinos, Homosexuals, Jews, and Asians will support President Obama en masse. Union members, women, and the 21 -30 age bracket too will support him. These demogrphics are enought to win the election for Obama.

The crazies will vote GOP and would do so even if Hitler were resurected and nominated.

I screwed up. I mean your third sentence - "Fortunately a majority of the American people are intelligent."

As for the H.L. Mencken's quote ... "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."

Please read the Supreme Court decision in Julliard v Greenman which established that "legal tender currency" is a promissory note issued by the US government representing the borrowing of lawful (gold and silver) money.

    http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=US&vol=110&invol=421

Then read TITLE 12 > CHAPTER 3 > SUBCHAPTER XII > § 411 which establishes that Federal Reserve notes are redeemable in lawful money.

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode12/usc_sec_12_00000411----000-.html

    Finally read TITLE 31 > SUBTITLE IV > CHAPTER 51 > SUBCHAPTER I > § 5103
    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode31/usc_sec_31_00005103----000-.html

This establishes that we have "coins" (which are made of gold and silver and are being produced today by the US mint) and "currency" that are both legal tender. When TITLE 12 > CHAPTER 3 > SUBCHAPTER XII > § 411 refers to Federal Reserve notes (currency) being redeemable in "lawful money" it is referring to gold and silver coins being produced by the US Mint which are lawful money and not currency.

Also interesting is that TITLE 31 > SUBTITLE IV > CHAPTER 51 > SUBCHAPTER I > § 5103 also excludes foreign gold and silver coins, which are money, from being legal tender in the United States. The government and the public are not required under the law to accept a Canadian Maple Leaf gold coin in exchange for services or commodities but under the law there is nothing that prevents that acceptance. Just because coined money from another country is not "legal tender" does not preclude the people from accepting it. It just means that it's acceptance is not mandatory. For about the 1st 100 years of the United States Spanish gold and silver coins were commonly used in the US economy but they were never legal tender.

    Finally, just for fun, read TITLE 31 > SUBTITLE IV > CHAPTER 51 > SUBCHAPTER II > § 5118

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode31/usc_sec_31_00005118----000-.html

Since 1977, when this law was last revised, the American People can once require payment in gold in the establishment of a debt. This must be done prior to the establishment of the debt and if done at that time then it excludes the use of currency to pay the debt. It limits the obligation to payment in gold and Federal Reserve notes could not be used as payment.

I anticpate that we're going to see the gold clause invoked more often in future financial transactions. I've used it once and it benefited both myself and the person that made a purchase from me as opposed to accepting Federal Reserve notes in the exchange.

This still doesn't address why Sarah Palin did not require the payment of the State's debts to be made in Gold and Silver coins being produced by the US Mint in compliance with Article I Section 10. If she supported the US Constitution as some have cited then why didn't she comply with it related to the payment of State debts as governor? Nothing prevented her from ordering the State Treasurer to take perhaps a billion dollars to the US Treasury and demand a billion dollars in gold and silver American Eagles in exchange as provided for by Title 12 under the law so that the State of Alaska could comply with Article I Section 10.

    FIN,

My son, there are many Americans who are intelligent, smart people. It's the conservatives religious zealots and fanatics that are dangerous and quite stupid. Many conservatives lack a good formal education and obtain their information from questionable, but popular, sources like FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, The Simpsons, etc. etc.

These people are dangerous. Collectively they (conservatives) threaten the economic stability of the USA and world-peace in that the people they support politically are militaristic lunatics.

Liberal anti-religion zealots are just as dangerous... in fact, they're entirely responsible for the lowered moral values of our country. Fortunately, far left liberalism is dying in America. And not a moment too soon.

Another untrue conventional wisdom. If it were true, why is it that divorce rates are highest in Red states and lowest in the Northeast Blue states (often 3 times as high)?

PRAISE JESUS.....I do hope He forgives us for the moral decay that has swept the western world.

Answer this question please: Conservative President Richard Nixon committed criminal acts (sins); Ronald Reagan was divorced (sin); President Bush, Junior procured an abortion for his girlfriend (sin) , addicted to alcohol (sin), lied about WMD (sin). Each man professed to be a CONSERVATIVE. Was their moral decay our (liberals) fault too ?

I always find it interesting that the conservative religious extremists always make subjective comments similiar to this and yet they believe that discrimination which violates the fundamental unalienable Rights of the Individual is somehow moral.

Those of us that don't make subjective judgments based upon books that were written thousands of years ago in an age of superstition and myth but instead actually believe in the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence are somehow immoral. We can only be thankful that the founders of America rejected religious bigotry as the foundation for our country and instead embraced the ideals of protecting the unalienable Rights of the People as the foundation of government.

Violating the unalienable Rights of the Individual is what's immoral but don't try to tell that to a conservative religious bigot. They have long since given up the ideals upon which America was founded choosing instead to endorse the tyranny of government to enforce their subjective personal and religious beliefs on others.

Yes it is we LIBERALS who are responsible for the high rates of divorce, and abortion. I accept responsibility. Does that make you feel better?

Palin seems to me like an idiot savant: she can't think her way out of a paper bag, but put her in charge of a state, and she performs miracles.

I still wouldn't want her to be one bullet away from the Presidency, though.

It always amazes me when "conservatives" address the expansion of the protections of the unalienable Rights of the Individual as being representative of moral decay. Most "conservatives" oppose the ACLU, for example, and this is an organization exclusively dedicated to protecting the unalienable and Constitutionally protected Rights of the individual.
