Then you might want to pop over to that thread where they are looking for "proof god exists" and share your proof with them because so far no one over there has provided any proof yet that god exists.

But Christianity depends on the Tanakh. That's where you go wrong. Christianity depends on Tanakh prophesy for its claim that Jesus was the Christian Messiah. Without these prophecies (wrongly interpreted by the way) Christianity would be without claim that Jesus birth etc followed those prophecies. Jesus would be what he actually was, a Teacher to the Jews.
The first person to write that Jesus was the Son of God was Paul. None of the Gospels were written before Paul. He introduced the Last Supper.

The Crusades really came about because the power of the Church was waning.. The Crusades and the potential for plundering riches from the East gave the Church a much needed boost... however it was pretty savage. The Crusaders killed indiscriminately all along the way... Christians, Jews, Muslims and anyone they came across.

Wrong, Christianity started with Christ and Paul converted after witnessing God.
The Turks did not came to the aid of Muslims in Spain because they have been weakened from their own internal conflicts and corruption plus their defeats to the Crusaders.

God is no creature. That is why trying to destroy God will not ever happen but evil has blinded man so much that they still do it regardless that is why in the end they never succeeded.

Ancient Jews have the most stringent rules against prostitution that is why you will find them in their Tanakh or Jewish Laws regarding prostitution.

Yes, prostitution has a long history and the rise of Christianity gave people that sense of moral obligation to family, respect for women and to disengaged in prostitution. The legalization of prostitution is being advocated by none Christians and thanks to Christians countries like the UK, Norway, France or Canada is still a progressive country because Christians learn to live and co-exist with none Christians including those who practice prostitution.

Evil has always been recognize to exist long before the rise of Christianity. Every ancient pagan religion as an equivalent Satan.

Evil has always been known to exist even before the Bible every ancient religion has an equivalent satan.

    I have, how about you?

Flexibility goes hand in hand with truth. The Bible and science goes hand in hand. Science provide the proof to the Bible and the Bible gives science that proof both are flexible based on truth.

The existence of God has been discussed in this thread and for your benefit the proof of God's existence is the historicity of the Bible, Jesus Christ, the discoveries of science and most of all human intelligence.

No, I'm afraid the Bible is not flexible, as when it was shown that evolution is true (and therefore Genesis is a lie, and that Jesus is a con, since he approved of Adam/Noah, etc.), the Bible was not changed. Scientists admit when they are wrong, but the Bible and it's followers clearly do not. Not. Flexible. That's because they are so arrogant.

Of course you could compare this with the another punishment of a slightly earlier civilsation. The Hebrew woman at least had to be proven guilty. In this other civilisation the same woman would have been taken to the middle of the Tigris or Euphrates and dumped overboard. If she managed to survive she was innocent, if she drowned she was guilty. Like 'ducking' witches.

I don't believe for one moment God gave these commandments. They were punishments adapted from other civilisations. Life was savage, punishments had to be harsh hopefully to deter. The punishments in Egypt, the most civilised of ancient nations, were equally harsh and even nobility were not immune.

We've lost the sense of justice today. Kill someone in the UK and you could be out of prison in 8 years while your victim?. Steal from someone's house and get a slap on the wrist.

WanRen's Bible is "flexible".....he makes up stuff that's not in it....and claims it is in it.

From "baby cannibalism" to "Barabbas was a rapist". :)

    Jesus didn't start any religion.

For goodness sake the Bible is written by man. It doesn't need to be flexible. Men do. From what we know now Genesis isn't a lie, it's an attempt by an early civilisation to explain the unexplainable, not give a scientific explanation.
If, as I believe. Jesus was a wise teacher trained in Judaism, he would have believe in Noah and Adam. No Jew of the time would have doubted. Had you been born 500 years ago you would have been a Christian - nominal possibly.
I have in my possession a copy of a document in a Kent (England) Museum. It is the terms and conditions of employment for a shop assistant in the 19th century. They include attendance at church on Sunday and one night at a Bible class. Laughable today. Not so then if you wanted to work.
We don't ask for Shakespeare to be translated/altered. We learn what was meant at the time and enjoy it for what is was.

Thanks. I won't expect, in the future, TOO MUCH from people that believe that a talking donkey and a talking snake - in our 6000 old universe - are actually real. They are well-intentioned, but fear death so much that they let that overcome their common sense, obviously.

Genesis may have been well intended, so a "lie" is not the optimal wording maybe, but "DANGEROUS" is indeed a good word to describe teachings that steer people away from science. Being the most popular religion ever, Jesus (it's main guy) gets the blame for steering more people throughout history away from science than any person in the known universe - so true. Dawkins wants to lead people towards science, but Jesus wants to lead them away from science, to believe that magic is real.

But they take it seriously and, for example, oppose gays to this very day (for example), because the Bible (from "god"), says to.....so it's very dangerous for humanity and morality.

Since it sounds like be BOTH agree that the Bible is not "breathed on" by some magic invisible sky daddy who magically made the entire universe in 6 days, can we both agree that people who do indeed believe in that parti cular sky daddy are delusional?

Since dashing babies against rocks (tenderizing them!? :) ) is in the Bible, and Moses approved of raping captives (and Jesus thought Moses was a pretty cool guy), then maybe he's not that far off! Hehe. :-D

Yeah, science shows that a cockatrice is real, that unicorns are real, that giants are real, that living in a big fish for 3 days is real, that talking donkeys are real, that the earth is 6000 years old.......or not.

Nor do I for one moment believe a god capable of creating an entire universe would in any way, regardless of what year it happens to be, condone such behavior.. and so I can't for the life of me understand why in the world any one would want to attribute such ignorance to the being they worship... and then act surprised that another person would look at them as if their head were placed on backwards!

One can hope against all hope that somehow we can awaken the person and save them from their delusions.

Perhaps futile to be sure ... but none the less a noble cause!
