The New England Patriots just beat the Baltimore Ravens in one of the best games to watch I have ever seen. Baltimore fans have a great deal to be proud of even if their Ravens lost the game to the Patriots 35 to 31. The Patriots were down 14-0 to the Ravens early but came back to tie it up 14-14. The Ravens once again put another 14 unanswered points on the scoreboard as a combination of Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco being very shart and efficent in the passing game along with a well balanced and hard to stop Ravens running game had the score at 28-14. But Tom Brady being without a doubt one of if not the best Quarterback in the History of the game.....Brady was to pass Joe Montana in this game as Brady passed Montana to become the Quarterback who has thrown more touchdowns in the NFL Playoffs in History....was able to once again bring the Patriots back to a 28-28 tie game. The Ravens came back and went up 31-28 on a field goal but this was only temporary. One of the Highlights of this game was a trick play as Brady through a lateral pass to #11 Jullian Edleman....a former Kent State Quarterback that has become one of the most prolific recievers and punt returners in the NFL.....as Brady through the lateral to Edleman thus drawing the Ravens Defense back towards the line of scrimage as they believed #11 would run...but instead Edleman through a 50 yard plus perfect spiral touchdown pass to Patriots Wide Reciever Tony Amendola who was streaking down the left side of the field towards the Ravens enzone. With the Patriots up 35-31 the Ravens dodged a HUGE bullet as the refs called Derell Revis on Pass Interferance as this flag was thrown right after the Patriots had caused Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco to fumble the ball which would have been spotted on the Ravens 1 yard line had the penalty not been assessed. The Ravens then began driving towards the Patriots endzone and with a little bit more than 2 minutes left Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco went for it all with a deep throw down the left side of the field that drifted inwards and was intercepted by the Patriots secondary. The Patriots having the ball with 1 minute and about 30 seconds left downed the ball 3 times taking all remaining time off the clock except 14 seconds as the Ravens used their last time out. The Patriots punted the ball and it was caught and attempted to be returned thus leaving time for only a Hail Mary. Flacco through a very high and deep pass into the endzone that was batted down with no time left on the clock and the Patriots made away with a 35-31 Victory!!! The New England Patriots will host the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME...again....next week in Foxborough Massachusetts and the team they will play will be the winner of Sundays Broncos/Colts Game. This will be the 10th AFC Championship Game the Patriots will play in as they have won 7 AFC Championship Titles. The Patriots have won 3 Superbowls so far and have played in a total of 7 Superbowls. Tom Brady holds the record for being the WINNINGEST QUARTEBACK IN NFL PLAYOFF HISTORY. Brady as well holds the record for most Touchdown Passes in the Playoffs. AboveAlpha
The Ravens are one hell of a team but in the end it comes down to which team makes the most plays and who makes the least mistakes. AboveAlpha
That last pass was defended perfectly. Loved it. Wish the Ravens would have won though. Playoff Flacco is amazing.
Flacco seems to be a much better Playoff QB than a Regular Season QB. Flacco played well tonight...but that interception he through in the 4th Quarter killed him and the Ravens. AboveAlpha
We have a few Steelers Fans in my town and they are as obnoxious as they are fanatical. I went to Breakfast at this restaurant where these Steelers Fans go to eat and listened to them disparage the Baltimore Ravens and Joe Flacco before that game. The way they told it you would have thought Rothburger Boy was JESUS...and Flacco was lower than dirt. After the Steeler loss to the Ravens they all became RAVENS FANS...as the only team Steeler Fans hate more than the Ravens is the Patriots as the Steelers have been the Patriots personal Whipping Boy's for a long time now. So they were giving me crap as I am a Pat's Fan and telling me how great the Ravens were and I said...."Sure..the Ravens and Flacco are a very good team but....were you guy's not telling me and everyone else here last week how bad the Ravens and Flacco SUCKED!!!?? LOL!!! There is ALWAYS a Steelers Fan crying somewhere at any given moment!! AboveAlpha
I predict that the Pats will beat Denver rather easily but will lose again in the Super Bowl. They haven't been able to win the big one since Belicek was caught cheating ten years ago. Poetic justice. Brady is an excellent pocket passer and tech out there but he's always been weak and soft when he gets smacked a few times. We'll of course just have to wait and see. Cheers
Yep, as usual the Patriots just had too many underrated White, late round draft picks to loose.........Bellichick never changes.........looks like the 'copy-cat' league would try and follow suit.......just sayin'
That whole issue of the Patriots filming the other teams practice was blown way out of proportion. Back then...EVERY TEAM....video taped the other teams practices and the reason why the Patriots got pointed out was because of New Jet's Coach who was just a former Patriots coach the prior year....loosing a game and then ratting out the Patriots for something the Jets and every other team in the NFL did. The Patriots have already beat Denver this year and Denver did not look good against the Pats. The Patriots already beat the Colts as well and that was a blowout I believe. AboveAlpha
This is our 4th AFC Championship Game in a ROW. Belechick is doing something right. AboveAlpha - - - Updated - - - Ahh...your right. I keep calling him Tony for some reason. He played well today. AboveAlpha
I was at a party where the Steeler's Fans were saying Flacco should be traded for draft picks at the beginning and everyone was going "Flacco, Flacco, Flacco" at the end. Football is great.
The one to Smith? It looked like the guy gave up on the ball and then put forth little effort to stop the DB from catching it. It was a toss up, he should have given himself a chance.
To me it looked like Smith was expecting the ball over his head and when he realized the ball was to his right...or left if he is facing back toward Flacco....he just did not have the time to correct his course. Besides the DB was just STANDING THERE....waiting for that ball to come down. AboveAlpha
Yeah, we kept checking in to the game during commercials on another channel. Real good game. Did you see the Seahawks handily beat the Panthers?
Have they done the obligatory Sherman interview yet? If so I can take back the remote from my with without fear of redundant cliches and self-agrandizment with the DWFs looking on in awe......
That trick play was really something. It was a pleasure to watch. Even if I was rooting for the other team!
I am happy for Julian Edelman as he was a Quarterback coming out of College...Kent State is one of the schools he played for....and Belichick turned his into one of the best recievers and returners in the NFL. I have been waiting for them to use him this way. AboveAlpha
Helluva game. Those of us from God's Country up here in the Pac NW look forward to showin' Brady and crew a repeat of the whuppin' we put on Peyton last year. After we spank whoever is unfortunate enough to win the Cowboys-Pack matchup.
If the Seahawks and Pats make it to the big game....if I were you I would be worried. The Seahawks don't match up well against the Patriots. They match up much better against the Bronco's. AboveAlpha
He did toss it up to the DB, but still, you have to make an effort. Smith did a two handed shove thing. Its the fourth quarter, slap him, hell tackle him and take the flag, just dont let him catch it.
They should easily beat Denver or Indy but will get their asses handed to them by Seattle or Green Bay. Your cheap shots at the Steelers and our fans early in the thread are duly noted. If your team gets to the bowl and loses again they will go down along with Minnesota and Buffalo as perennial bridesmaids who choke in the big game. Belicek has about as much personality as a three day old bowl of oatmeal and Brady is a sissy who chokes in big games, second only to Peyton Manning, another girly man. If what Belicek did was no big deal, why do you suppose he received the biggest fine in the history of the league?
