They are going to be sorry. EVs are not the future.

Actually, the cost of the car is because of it's capacity. The average version of the same car which has roughly all of the same features between the line levels is the same. The only difference is because of the number of batteries.

We were building roads long before there were motorized vehicles of any kind.
    I never wager.
Of course no one company will get all the contracts. That's why it will be so hard to police, and cousins of county commissioners will get in line first.

Not sure. I "fixed" my RC car engines way back when=) Ever rebuild an electronic device? Nope. We just replace the whole thing now. Won't predict for certain, but who's guessing that fixing an electric engine will mostly involve replacing the whole damn thing instead....more money that way, hehe.

EVs are the future, but we've still got a long way to go for mass acceptance. Price, infrastructure, minerals. Lithium is more scarce than petroleum. Without an alternative, EV's can't survive on current batteries.

Ever hear of the US interstate highway system. When you are done with that, I suggest you look at roadway costs, even just paving. I assure you, even state taxes don't pay for those roads.

Yes, and . . . ? All vehicles are free to use the interstate highways equally.

The reason it is free is because of taxes. If a state chooses to toll the Interstate, they lose federal revenue for roads.

Yes. That is not in dispute. I used "free" in the sense that all vehicles can use the interstate equally.

You talked about having roads, but they were dirt, they were mostly local, and they were mostly crap. Actually the trials and travails of living in cities before pavement is entertaining. Roads would become impassable, buses and trolley cars would wind up laying on their side, just tons of fun.

Btw, that's a really good book.

Cars did not perform well or even not at all on unpaved (unfinished - the technical term) roads.

Yes. I still see no point relevant to our exchange.

Blunt it is, then, you were basically wrong, and the history is pretty interesting.

Yes. That is not in dispute either. The improved roads did not favor one vehicle over another.

Sorry, but an assertion without foundation is unpersuasive.

Yet you are complaining only about electric vehicles. If one were to review wear and tear on the roads, heavy hauling does far greater than any other vehicle. Now if we were to just over stock with gas to drive prices down, that means more tankers on the road.

It is magnitudes cheaper to ship electricity than gasoline.

Yes it does, it favors cars over horses. If one were to drive through Amish country, it is quite evident.

You are arguing against a point I'm not making. I'll repeat: a network of federally financed EV charging stations is a subsidy for EV's.
