CBO: Unemployment to Be ‘Largely Unchanged’ in 2012, 2013
January 31, 2012 – The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that the unemployment situation will remain “largely unchanged” in 2012 and again in 2013 as the economy struggles to recover from the record recession of 2007-2008.

I think she just throws darts at a board and what ever her score is when her arm gets tired is the number she goes with. I mean the more you pay me to be out of work, the more I am going to start looking for a job. I mean who can argue with that?

This woman just continues to say the most ludicrous insane things. How in the F does this woman continue to get re-elected?! Yes, I know San Fran is full of liberal lunatics....but I mean come on...this woman is clearly not all there.

Same can be said about a lot of democrat women. Debbie W Schultz, Shiela Jackson Lee, Barbra Boxer. I mean really, I knew women were great liars, but these women are the champs.:trophy:

We all need to be grateful to this fine, intellectual giant of a woman.

She is absolutely correct, by paying people not to work instead of actually creating jobs for them you eliminate the "middle man" and that nasty business called "profit".

This is true 'trickle down" economics. We don't need jobs...we need more unemployment benefits.

Her only failing, though, is that this concept is not enshrined in the constitution. This should be remedied this instant and we have to bypass the traditional amendment process just as we had to pass the medical care act without anyone reading it so that everyone could read it.

I suggest that we immediately award her the Joe Biden Medal of Intelligence.

She is a fine example of the American educational system and the result of 30 years of marijuana smoking by voters in the Bay area.

We need to make marijuana mandatory immediately....do not read the act first as we will have to pass it in order for people to read it...or use it to roll their dope.

Then when they spend that money, it typically goes to the owners of the stores. And since alot of poor people shop typically at places like Walmart, the Walton's get richer and richer while the poor stay at 0. But giving poor people more and more money they didn't earn, makes that money worth less when you can get it for doing nothing. So the middle class saving for retirement have less spending power with the money they have saved, making them more dependant on the government.

    Absolutely correct!

Most of the money will be spent on rent and mortgages ensuring that there will be more jobs in renting stuff and in banking as they need all the help they can get counting money.

It will also be spent at Walmart where millions of Americans work selling cheap Chinese goods.

Some of the money will be spent on car loans, again providing jobs in the banking industry.

And some of it will be spent on food, ensuring that truck drivers hauling the food from Mexico will keep their jobs.

And a lot of it will be spent on gas since prices are higher than they have ever been. This will ensure jobs for many years to come in the Canadian wilderness and we know that those Canadians will and vacation here spend even more money creating even more jobs!

This is genius! Paying a few million Americans not to work to create 600,000 jobs is the the most sensible of any Obama administration plan...it is as good as the $3 billion cash for Cars program that "Saved" hundreds of jobs in Germany and Japan.

It sure beats building a stinking pipeline. That would only create 12,000 jobs even though those paltry few jobs would pay ten times as much as UI.

And it is better than letting Boeing expand, that's for sure.

We should be so grateful to this woman.

    I must disagree.

The people who work at Walmart will be able to keep their minimum wage jobs.

And having middle class people more dependent on the government is the same as paying people not to work. It creates jobs. Weren't you listening to the brilliant Nancy Pelosi?

I think this is genius. We need to instantly start paying football players not to play as then they will be able to spend more and create even more jobs.

And the more people we pay not to work also means the more time these people will have to drink and do drugs, creating even more jobs, and well paying ones too, since no one has ever seen a poor drug dealer.

Why, if we continue in this fashion we will have to import people from Mexico to fill all the jobs.

I'm sure their spending creates jobs...mostly in China where they make the stuff they're buying.

You could throw money anywhere and in principle it should create jobs, but paying people to not work is probably the least efficient manner in which to do it, and you aren't even getting improved infrastructure out of it or anything.

At the least get some workfare going on so there is some GDP bump out of all this. And doing some labor would actually be at least something to put on a resume, and maybe a motivator to get a job even if it isn't the awesome six figure home flipping job you had before.

EDIT: Actually I noticed she said "economists agree" that unemployment checks are the best way to stimulate the economy. Does anybody have any idea what she's referring to? Those would seem to be some economists to watch out for.

The liberals want to create a permanent unemployed welfare class that continually vote to keep them in office. I think that if Obama wins another term they will finally be able to extend welfare and unemployment long enough to create this. If Obama wins another term you may very well never see another republican ever hold the office of President again.

The welfare class will just continue to grow under the democrat leadership ensuring them permanent positions in Congress and the Presidency.

Correct. The velocity of money. Give someone a dollar and it will get going so fast that it will disappear.

This is a genius plan. We hasn't anyone thought of this sooner.

Wait I think Karl Marx thought it up. And look how well that turned out in Russia.

Indeed, we need to instantly start paying more people not to work so that so many jobs are created we have to import people from Mexico to do the work.

    Imagine the "velocity" then?

Where will it disappear to? Is there some magical black hole you know of where money disappears?

    This is an excellent plan!

By paying more and more people unemployment benefits there will soon be so many jobs none of us will ever have to work again.

Let's make Obama president for life!

    War is peace!

I have no idea. You are the one who thought up the grand idea of the velocity of money...velocity means to go fast or with force. Therefore by natural extension of your term it is only natural that it will get going very fast and with force. And since there is no gravity nor resistance in economics, it means that the "velocity" is unlimited. therefore it is conceivable that it could get going at the speed of light, and therefor disappear.

Or was the "velocity" reference just bull(*)(*)(*)(*)?

I absolutely agree. Thank God we have Nancy Pelosi to do that! She is an absolute genius and didn't even mention the "velocity of money".
