Well, I agree with your post 100%. Great rant! This is all part of a character assassination, obviously to any 3-year-old child.
<Reply to Deleted> Father fought in WWII, me, vietnam, my son in kosovo lots of my friends and family served in the military and are democrats <Mod Edit>
Thank you for your comment. I understand General Kelly's angry statements and while he wasn't exactly accurate in detail of the Congresswoman, his sense of her trying to take credit for a building she had nothing to do with having built nor the naming of the building was on point - and the basis of his anger legitimate. What that Congresswoman did to that Gold Star mother, using her being emotionally distraught putting a letter not about her son, but of generic Democrat talking points telling her to sign it is truly outrageous. While all parents of children in the military internally know the danger, you have to think they'll be ok because if not you'd go crazy and could so fret as to become unsupportive. When the word comes of injury or death, even though knowing it could happen, it still hits you like a hammer. The Helmand District was THE hot spot in Afghanistan. We know a Marine squad leader who was in the Helmand District and he, too, was there because he wanted to be. He had enlisted specifically because he wants to go into combat. He knew the risks but came out of it ok. I don't want to go too overboard ranting against Democrats and don't generally get emotional over issues. I am even maybe abit bit surprised at how angry this has made me - as I thought I what I would do if some politician showed up, handed me some political attack letter garbage to use for political gain - rather than about my child - telling me to sign it. I would literally have thrown that person out of our home. I sent you a PM, short. I hope your son fully recovered, it is something he (and both of you) can be exceeding proud of lifelong.
Uranium. Doesn't change anything. Dems don't want to hand the keys to the white house to the Russians, but giving them access to uranium is OK.
Where did I lose my humanity? How am I hating Trump by pointing out that giving a half-a**ed call to a fallen soldier's family and then bragging and lying about it is low class? In fact, I expressed sympathy with the OP and his child in my above posts. If you want to talk about Hillary haters, though, there is a whole recent thread for you where people celebrate her breaking a bone after falling, and then making fun of her: http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/‘london-hillary-falling-down’-hillary-clinton-falls-breaks-toe-on-stairs-during-london-book-tour.516650/ Now, this I call losing their humanity.
I glad that you raised this issue, because the reality is that at least nineteenths of the leftist that I despise on these forums due to the pernicious nature of their ideology and politics -- and I do despise most of them as posters -- would turn out to be salt of the Earth individuals in a one on one face to face situation and especially so during an emergency such as an approaching hurricane. The reason I say this is because I have lived through a number of those beasts of nature and to date everyone I've come into contact with during the preparation and post hurricane processes have been decent folk and they couldn't possibly all have been Right of Center citizens as I live in Houston, Texas a generally Dem Party run mega-city with probably a quarter of the population being composed of illegals. My point being that these political forums system allow us to post in ways that we would never speak face to face in regards to a stranger. Away from these forum systems most of the Left/Right tensions simply don't exist as much by way of important issues. Mostly people simply get on with their lives.
I have not seen or talked to a Democrat in a decade or so since most transformed into liberals who then transformed into progressives. Who knows what tomorrow brings but reading and seeing what Acadamia elitist are putting out on the streets we are in one hell of a mess. Let me know if anyone spots the rarely seen democrat or at least snap a pic of one and post it.
War is just politics by other means, nothing more and nothing less, we tried to negotiate with Hitler in the end war came and we were forced into it to protect our nation but if LBJ didn't act in Vietnam it might have been the end of his presidency the fact was for him the war assured a second term. If soldiers died it doesn't matter to the Prince of a kingdom its if it helped them hold the throne. In the Prince this was a key principle to do what must be done to hold the throne. The next leader was then stuck with the war but by then the job was done for LBJ.
The military needs more money if it is going to protect us from the evils coming from both sides of the world. While we are playing a major blame game here in America North Korea is preparing for their assault just as Iran is preparing for their assault against America and our allies. While we are taking our attention off what is important and trying to take down our president it will come as a surprise to many when the destruction begins. There are many more important issues happening in the world then internal politics.
Agreed. Realizing this, however, it could be up to you to raise the standards and post in a way that is not offensive to others who have a different opinion and to not tell them that you despise them. We reap what we sow.
Maybe you can tell me how much more the military needs? Is the amount equivalent to 8 of the the next biggest spenders combined enough (as is the current)? Or should it be equivalent to the next 20, or 50 countries? Of course, with infinite spending, we could make sure that there will be 0 US casualties in a war because every soldier will have infinite resources available to protect themselves. Is that what you want? Of course, the other option would be to just not engage in any wars. That would protect the troops. Wouldn't that be a novel concept?
I totally agree, and I would do exactly that if I actually cared what on line leftist posters thought of the person posting as Gatewood.
Well, by admitting this you have no grounds on accusing the other side of lowering standards. It usually takes two to tango. The extremists on both side seem to be egging each other on to become more extreme. That is unfortunate.
I guess in your mind if we are attacked we should just surrender to whatever country attacks us. You might be comfortable allowing other countries ruling you but fortunately the majority of America does not want to live under other's thumb.
I am extremist? Really? Why don't you show me my extremist posts. The forum has a search function. I'll happily admit, if you find something.
Where does saying that we shouldn't spend as much as the next 8 biggest spenders combined on "defense" equate to surrendering when attacked? But, maybe you could answer my question: How much SHOULD we spend on "defense"?
While I admit that we all mean well, or at least know how to put on a nice guy mask, there's a reason for the unwritten rule of no political or religious discussions during family get-togethers. There are real legitimate tensions that arise from basic principles such as private property rights, gun ownership, and freedom of speech, <Mod Edit> So instead of being honest about how we feel, we sit there and politely lie to each other while eating thanksgiving Turkey. My christian sister will be there smiling and thinking the atheists are going to hell, my lesbian sister is sitting there smiling and thinking about how I'm part of the patriarchy, and my brother is going for another helping of potato salad while thinking that if not for me, Hillary would have won the election. If you think we don't have any real tensions, try wearing a maga hat to work.
You are correct of course. My main point was that away from these political forum systems people are very seldom at one another's throat and that even total political opposites do work perfectly well together during emergencies. But that's as far as I am willing to go with this since I, too, loathe leftists.
