So this has happened in America? When and where?

 

Of course it hasn't happened. Because we ignore that part of the bible because it's a completely backwards policy written by men who treated women as commodities to be traded for favor and gold.

We would throw someone in jail for attempting to follow that belief.

At the very least we can shun and fire people for choosing to follow the backwards ass belief that homosexuality is a sin. No one is being hurt by two people deciding to marry a member of their own sex. No one at all.

But people are being hurt by the backwards belief that homosexuality is a sin. People are being beaten. People are being killed. People are being disowned by their family.

The belief that homosexuality is a sin should be treated exactly like the belief that you should force a rapist to marry his rape victim and pay for damages to the family of the victim. As a backwards belief that's no longer relevant to our society and hurts us as a country more than it helps.

 

No wonder the left wanted them back on air. And it's working too.

 

Some people just like to gripe, without concern for who they are griping about.

 

Very few translations translate it into "rape". Most just stick with "lie with her".

King James, for instance....

Deut. 28, 29:
If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

So the gist of it is, if a man had sex with an unmarried woman, he was supposed to marry her.

Moot anyway, since that was Old Law (not sure why this guys keeps bringing it up).

Some people pick and choose things to argue about, when they have no actual understanding of any of it.

 

Yes, I know it was it old testament, but I was hoping he'd give chapter and verse so we could point that out. I usually just skip over the silly old testament arguments since they don't apply anymore.

 

Well, it's really all they have often times.

Easy to say "But the Bible says....!"
While completely ignoring when it was said, and who it was said to.

The overused shellfish thing falls flat in the same way.

Too many people use these arguments, when they can't even grasp the old vs. new.

do you realize what is so nice about individual beliefs and practices is that you are going to have yours and I will continue to have mine. Your numbers constitute a bit more than 1% of the world's population. Technically that is an aberration.

The old duck guy didn't beat, harass, or kill gays. He said the Bible says it's wrong and he just doesn't get it himself. Frankly, comparing speech to physical violence is a pretty slippery 1st Amendment slope. Next thing you know, saying that the Bible says homosexuality is wrong becomes a "hate crime."

 

That may not necessarily be true. Some theologists believe that the New Testament is an addendum to the Old Testament. In the OT, there was no redemption from sin. You had to lead a perfect life to be allowed to sit with God. But since Man's corruption was deeply engrained, God sent a messenger that gave us salvation and redemption. IMO, it never changed a thing about God's Law, the NT gave us forgiveness for our sins where we didn't have redemption before. Nowhere in the NT does it state that the OT was done.

 

The Libs are working tirelessly to edit the Bible just so they can feel better about being abominations in the eyes if God.............like that'll work.

Did I make that claim? No. Go re-read what I put out there.
It did in the OT. Sin in the OT was condemnation for Eternity. All of those souls that were lost to Him because of his sterness made HIm realize that without a means for salvation future souls were also going to be lost.The NT offers salvation. That was why Christ was given to us to show us now that there was a path to the Father, and the only way to God was through Christ. Don't worry, He'll be your defender as well. The New Testament doesn't give us new rules that supplanted the old one, it is merely the testimony of Christ.
It also describes the method and manner of redemption and salvation.

Nor does he send the Messiah only to have him show his face on Earth once, twice, no three times and still not fulfill all the Messianic prophecies.

I think Jesus and his apostles were simply best selling authors and motivational speakers in their day.

The whole devine thing was most probably added later, then given wider scope by the Catholics, then Protestants.

I'm sure you've experienced what happens when a fact, becomes rumor. Stories can be made infinitly more dramatic by the time they get from one end of the office to the other, in just one day. Imagine how much different theycan be after 200 years, thousands of miles, and interpreted by people seeking political power.

My guess is that IF there are higher existances that we can't comprehend, they probably have never read the bible. Just like a beetle can be affected by us, without ever having the bandwidth to comprehend us.
