Interesting; who adjudges what comprises mis- or disinformation? Fauci, for instance, one said the virus was no bad deal, then changed his mind. Same with masks.

Science based medicine is a term that has been used for ages. It is a clear distinction that separates from folk medicine and other sources of untested ideas that have not been subjected to the rigors of scientific examination.

Medicine most definitelly has NOT all been science based - and it isn't all science based today.

For example, the entire anti-Vax movement, not just the opposition to COVID vaccines, is not backed by science.

It is in my world, your comment speaks volumes about you Sir. That may be how you view your self and your life but it's certainly NOT how successful people view experience..

So just curious, you DON'T offer experience when applying for a position, or just assuming bid a contract or project for a customer? But I can imagen you telling a customer "My experience is not something to be counted on" yikes, bro!

That was incredibly early on, before transmission methods and disease severity became better understood.

Science is open to learning. That is a seriously important feature - not an avenue for assaulting science. What value are testing protocols for medical solutions if science is not willing to upgrade its conclusions???

Also, masks are a public policy decision. Science has a lot to say about their effectiveness, but politicians make policy decisions based on numerous factors. Hopefully, science is one of those factors. Unfortunately, there are a lot of politicians who have zero interest in or understanding of science AND who refuse to learn.

    Good LORD!

You can be an expert in your field. You can tout your credentials to your customer.

BUT, on this board you don't have credentials in science based medicine, so anything you pretend you know about that has to be considered rubbish.

Now you're just spinning stuff you might have thought thru before you posted it :) \

And either do you :) So anything you pretend to know is pure rubbish and that includes me and my personal experiences, so be warned, stop with the personal attacks on my PERSONAL experiences!

We don't have to agree with someone to be kind to them. Sometimes, it's better to just walk away and say nothing than hurt another person. In fact, that is my standard operating procedure.

That may be true, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Sorry, but it is the case that the claims of personal experiences by posters can not be considered serious evidence.

That goes for me just as much for you, so you don't have to feel that was an attack on your personal experiences.

Neither to people in other first world countries.

Yet they are far more successful in taking care of the health of their citizens.

Seconded. Look at my posting history from yesterday. I just got a serious beatdown for posting my personal medical experiences. I don't think anybody should use them as "scientific evidence" but, like most of us, personal experience trumps what the pretty brochures in doctors' offices say.

In Sweden they also pay out of pocket for their deductibles and premiums. They also have price caps that WE subsidize here. Meh. Apples and oranges.

Odd that it's not evil for YOU to work for a profit, but it is evil when someone else works for a profit, lol.

What happens when the physician's "misinformation" is found to be true? Guess he's just screwed.

Yes. And, I do believe experiences can illuminate the problem being discussed.

It can be hard to understand what a poster is getting at if it is always stated in the abstract.

I haven't made any comment about individuals working for their income. You make it sound like I think doctors should work for free, or whatever.

But, you have to fact the fact that every other first world country has a system that can be characterized as single payer. And, they are all judged by health care analysts such as healthcareadministration.com and the Kaiser Family Foundation as being better than we are at delivering health care to citizens.

I don't know the particulars of any such law that is being proposed.

But, our system certainly does include individuals being punished for breaking policy even when the outcome was successful.
