Please vote your opinion regarding prisons and mental health instititutions.

* 3 daily breaks minimum outside with smoking privledges for the inhabitants of mental health wards and prisons.

It is my belief that this basic human right spoken of for well over 1,300 years by the followers of true Islam should be a right given to any type of prisoner. We know that this form of break in a prisoners life can be more therapeutic than any one pill for the kinds of feelings that are felt when locked away, or when you do not have the ability to come and go in and out of a building you are held in. Muhammad, God bless him said in His book that even a servant/slave deserves free leave from his master at least three times a day. You will notice that most employment situations that are 8 hours in length involve three breaks or more. Its only fair right for those who conform and work hard to make a living. But what do the people that we call criminal, mentally unstable, or dangerous deserve in this regard? It is my belief that these people deserve every bit of what Muhammad spoke of for servents or slaves. At this time prisoners are lucky to get a breath of outside air once per day and claustrophobia is very common in the prisoners. Those held in mental health wards are sometimes thought so dangerous to themselves or other that they are not given the right to passage outside for weeks and sometimes even months and years. Imagine how proud we have become to treat people who will again be free like they are less than slaves. Please read this and sign this petition with a Yes to inform people that you agree with this petition to ensure three breaks outside each day for anyone held by authority for a length of time greater than 1 day.

Please if you have been to jail think about the people your grew close to there and think about the spirit of the people who want to now make a difference and change their life. Think about souls who had already paid everything they owe in Gods eyes and struggle with the lack of rights we give to our prisoners and citizens. We must awake from this nightmare soon if we wish to stay respected in authority.

In a time where some of our government officials are calling for super prisons I think its really time to investigate the degradation of our legal system on those we punish for crimes.

Peer Counseling Aids Mental Illness Recovery
December 02, 2011 : Non-pharmaceutical treatment has been used for 50 years

In a courtyard outside the local library in Kent County, Maryland, five men and women gather around a table to talk. I like it here," John says. "You meet a lot of people. And not only that, the same people have the same problem, some worse than others. I come here to be around people, to meet people. Since I found this group, I dont feel so isolated," says Victoria. "I dont feel so insulated. John and Victoria - who are only using first names to protect their privacy - are members of a support group run by Chesapeake Voyagers. The mental health, wellness and recovery center works to help people who suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, panic attacks and other disorders that can alter thought, mood or behavior.

One in five adults in America suffers from some form of mental illness, according to a recent survey. Although help is available, most never seek it - perhaps because of a lack of understanding about the illness or the dread of stigma. But the repercussions of untreated mental illness - job loss, family disruption, isolation, homelessness and hopelessness - can be devastating. Over the past four decades, researchers have developed powerful new medications to ease symptoms, but peer counseling - a non-pharmaceutical treatment that has been used effectively for half a century - is still an important part of therapy. The first day that I came to meet with Chesapeake Voyagers was a huge task for me to open the door," says Rebecca. "I wanted to run away so quick and cry, but yet, I knew I had to do that if I was going to get better.

The 47 year old has battled depression since childhood, though she says it wasn't diagnosed until recently. For Rebecca, isolation is a huge problem. I had two attempts at suicide. I think that when youre in this valley of darkness where you cant pull yourself together enough to even do the basic needs - showering, your personal hygiene - its a real struggle to try and feel like youre worthwhile, that you have a place in society," she says. "You dont feel like youre socially fit to go into crowds, go to stores. You dont feel like you can make meals. Depression takes away your character. So you have nothing to fall back on.

Support groups - like those run by Chesapeake Voyagers - offer something to fall back on: a community of people facing similar issues. And, as more people bear their soul to the world on reality television programs, it could lead more people like Rebecca, John and Victoria to feel comfortable talking to others about what theyre going through. Peer support counselors - many of whom have experienced and successfully dealt with mental health problems themselves - lead the groups. Counselor Audrey DAllaird is bipolar and says she couldn't find a job until she discovered Chesapeake Voyagers. "Essentially, with bipolar you have extreme highs and extreme lows, and I could get a job so quickly, but I could lose it just as fast. I didnt understand that. I didnt understand it was mental illness."

DAllaird leads support groups dealing with depression, and the effects of emotional and physical abuse. Another of her groups focuses on drug and alcohol addiction - conditions that research shows are closely tied to mental disorders. In addition to support groups, Chesapeake Voyagers hosts social events like evenings out for dinner, bowling or going to the movies. The center also offers access to computers for finding jobs and housing, as well as information on other mental health resources. Similar services are available in communities around the country and, increasingly, in virtual communities through websites and Internet bulletin boards.

You are absolutely Right, in Russia for example the patients of Mental Hospitals were forced to vote for Putin's Party.Hopefully US-Patients will be not forced to vote for Obama.

Federal Prisons Plan to Release More Inmates on 'Compassionate' Grounds
May 2, 2013 - To reduce the growing prison population and escalating prison costs, the U.S Bureau of Prisons says it is now revising its "compassionate release" rules so more ailing and aging inmates can be freed.

A report from the Justice Department's inspector general says the revised rules will expand the compassionate release program by making inmates with a life expectancy of up to 18 months eligible for consideration (versus the current 12 months). The revised rules also will explain what level of functioning is "extraordinary and compelling" enough for inmates to be considered for release. The OIG report notes that the Justice Departments FY 2013 budget request identified $3.2 million in savings to be achieved by expanding the BOPs compassionate release program.

In the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984, Congress authorized the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to ask a federal judge to reduce an inmates sentence for extraordinary and compelling circumstances. The request can be based on either medical or non-medical conditions that could not reasonably have been foreseen by the judge at the time of sentencing. The review process begins when an inmate submits a compassionate release request to the warden. That request must include the inmates reason for asking, a plan for where the inmate will live and support himself (and receive and pay for medical care) if hes released.

According to U.S. Sentencing Commission guidelines, extraordinary and compelling reasons exist when:

-- The defendant is suffering from a terminal illness.

-- The defendant is suffering from a permanent physical or medical condition, or is experiencing deteriorating physical or mental health because of the aging process;

-- The death or incapacitation of the defendants only family member capable of caring for the defendants minor children.

-- Any other circumstance which the director of the Bureau of Prisons finds to be an extraordinary and compelling reason.
