    "By Might of Arms of the Fed" That is the very idea of a socialist government. That is the very idea one which wants to end a free society which you fought against! I can not understand why someone like you who has been out there in the field can still think this way. Supporting the Federal government. A government which sent you and thousands of other soldiers into many wars undeclared against THEIR oaths to defend the constitution. The wars will continue because of our beliefs which we have strayed from. if it is by might of arms we are given freedom then it would only be just that by might of arms they are taken away as the person protecting us has two hands with a gun in each. The government is our shield and sword not our body guard and care taker. That is why within the very article that freed us to make and build this nation it states the truth of our rights why they are unalienable.

    "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

    You fought for my country yet in your actions and words you wish to stab it in the back tear apart its base upon which it stands. "By might of arms of the federal government" is tyranny. My own state which I live in which joined a union to protect its rights this union being called the united states was then forced to stay in that union then the statement "By might of arms" had gone to far. This state which I pledge my allegiance to has a motto "Sic Semper Tyrranis".

    Evolution is not science because science has to be observable testable and repeatable! Why are we not evolving to day? Where did matter and energy come from? For evolution to be even true we must know how life was created anyway. Well we don't. Its based on faith of "well we don't know about that yet and through science we will eventually find out but for now all I say is that its true". Its just a much a religion as Christianity simply put in the guise of science.

    30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

    Look up the documentary "Agenda" Its quite amazing what you will find.

    Yep, in fact, I fought for your freedom to be wrong, or ignorant, or stupid or biased of bigoted, or foolish, just as i fought for your freedom to be right, intelligent, smart, understanding, witty and compassionate. Sine only the wealth could vote in Washington's day, and no slaves, indentured servants or people that did not own land, could vote, then of course, more people today are free to vote than in Washington's day. In fact, more people today have the right to vote, and are too useless to take the time to do so, than existed in Washington's day. And that fact, proves my point about having too much freedom.

    Feel free to be just as wrong and foolish as you wish, that is what I fought for.
    By the way, the govt is imaginary, not real, an idea, it cannot pledge to anything, only humans can pledge. And by pledging to the republic, WE, are pledging to each other, to our fellow citizens, to do what is in out power to keep them free. That is what the pledge is about, to those of us that love, understand and have concerns for this great nation.

    Of course, many today are concerned only with themselves, not with others, not with the future or with humanity in general, and to those I say only one thing. I fought for your right to be as ornery, foolish and stupid as you wish to be, so ----have at it.

    No, we don't. I can know beyond reasonable doubt that a train traveled from Philadelphia to NYC without knowing how it got to Philadelphia.
    None of what you just said is true, and frankly, you appear to not even know what the theory of evolution is.
    Nice little "poisoning the well," that. Feel free to point out where I was either wrong or foolish if you have a substantive response.
    That much is obvious.
    To you it might be about that. So say it. To me, it represents a whole host of misrepresentations of our ideals. So I don't say it.

    For you to act like your "understanding" of what the pledge is about FOR YOU should apply to everyone, and therefore anyone who doesn't have the same understanding can't be a good American, is absurd.
    If I remember correctly, you were in Vietnam. Which means, actually, you didn't fight for any of those things. You fought to prop up a corrupt (but anti-Communist) regime led by the South Vietnamese. Sorry if the truth hurts.

    2.ok was your great great granddad a monkey?
    3.NOT irrelevant for something to evolve it must BE something made of something and that something comes from somewhere.
    4. A train is not a living entity it doesn't know anything

    5. I do know what the theory of evolution is. But its like Swiss cheese...to many holes.

    Well actually the part about owning land was important because that meant you actually OWNED a piece of your state and so therefore had a right to have a say on the government of your state. With today voting system nobody owns anything because of such things as imminent domain,property tax and so on. It was slightly un-fair to those without land but it did make a certain amount of sense.

    This is not the theory of evolution. Thank you for showing you are completely ignorant of the actual theory. Moreover, it is unresponsive to my point that evolution is still happening.

    One of my distant ancestors, millions of years ago, was a "lower" form of primate, yes. My great great granddad was a (homo sapiens) human, as was yours. Are you really that ignorant of the theory that you think speciation occurs in 3 generations?
    It's relevant to our ultimate origins.

    Eminent domain and property taxation have always existed in this country. They existed back when only titled land owners could vote, and they exist now. Both concepts, in fact, are enshrined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

    Saying I am wrong without proof is even crazier than the theory. You proved absolutely nothing about what I knowing me or what I know. What if I told you those questions actually came from learned men who had studied it very hard and in depth. I would guess that your answer would be something about how they are all so ignorant! On the topic of the train. You very well know it came from somewhere and it got there somehow but you don't with your theory of evolution. Yes we are getting off topic so let us not respond with posts having to do with the theory of evolution where it doesn't belong.

    the point is you have to pay for public schooling no matter what.


    I wonder if the fact that they are government run has anything to do with that.

    another idea would be to allow schools to compete with one another on the free market. that works for everything else.

    the incentives arent there for the department of education to work. evidence: it isn't working- "80% of people are ignorant."

    I can see how that might be a good idea in some situations, the point with allowing schools to compete on the free market is that we would quickly find out what works and what doesnt.

    It is the responsibility of American citizens to take responsibility. Since very few do so, Taxes have been implemented to assist those that are unable to pay for their children to get an education. Think of it as being FORCED to do your duty, just like if you were in the military.

    Actually, about 90 percent of school kids are idiots and it has nothing to do with the schools, govt or otherwise, it has to do with the fact that about 90 percent of humans are idiots.

    Sorry, but NO, schools should not be allowed to compete--The American nation needs a quality educated populace--all you get with competition is schools are religious and racially biased. The evidence of that is in every private school within 50 miles of where I live--they are either religious schools or private schools with only white kids.

    The department of education does not work because POLITICIANS appoint the people in it--and IDIOTS elect those politicians. If only 80 percent are ignorant, we are ahead of the game, since 90 percent of all humans are ignorant idiots.

    You want to know what works--look around the world at the nations that have systems that do work:
    Year round education
    Higher education for those that can do, not those that want to
    Testing, testing and more testing, with penalties--if you don't pass you are out of school.

    and the list goes one--but the insipid and ignorant American voting public will never allow what does work, they are too ignorant.

    Why does it "damage" States rights? Some States no longer have a option, without a new State Constitution.

    My only question is; where did our federal Congress "acquire" any delegated authority to be repugnant to our own First Amendment?

    What do you mean you "got into trouble" for not doing the pledge? Were you suspended? Arrested? or Counseled? Can you elaborate more on this?
