Yes. I carried a Taser for about 5 years before I retired.

Yes, it's common sense to invest where one can live and do business safely. However, there is a problem with this position. Racism against minorities isn't just directed at the lowlife troublemakers within those subgroups.

Are you serious, or seriously ignorant?
Very very few residents of these islands wish they owned a gun.
People don’t tend to live their lives in fear like Americans.
Rochdale, Rotherham and other parts of these islands are not overrun with extremist people be they Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish...or any other religion.
American fear and paranoia does not cross the Atlantic.
If people ever need to defend themselves here they are unlikely to want to use a gun.
I doubt you have ever been to either Rochdale or Rotherham...I have.

in Texas that’s the case. Everyone needs x amount of hours for changes to domestic abuse law, use of force, and others. You either do it or your peace officers license is suspended.

She made an honest mistake in the heat of a struggle with a violent suspect. Which of us hasn't done that in our time? Surely you have? The anti-police bigotry/hypcocrisy of the African American community should have no influence on her sentencing.

    Most likely.

Really? Maybe you should ask the 1400 children gangraped and abused there by Muslims.

This is a shocking case, and I urge everybody to read it.
However it has nothing to do with having an armed citizenry.
Nor is it anything to do with the vast majority of Muslim or other people.

Did it feel weird at first? Seems to me like LOTS of simulation would need to be done so that officers would instinctively know where their gun is and where their taser is, and make sure they draw the right one for the situation, especially for those like yourself who had spent the majority of their careers with only a gun. Is that correct?

A mistake that killed somebody is still a homicide. She's guilty of it and has to be sentenced to prison.

How about you co accidentally run over a cop, and tell us all how that will unfold.

No, it didn't feel weird because over the course of my career I had changed equipment many times before. I am right-handed, and the Taser was on my left side. I was confident that I wouldn't mistake which was which.

What I found was that old habits stick with you. My default response to physical resistance was what I had trained in the most and which worked for me, and that was takedowns and various joint locks. During my career, many suspects resisted or became assaultive, but I only used the less-lethal tools on my belt a few times in all those years. I was present for multiple uses of the Taser during those 5 years, but in most of those cases, I was in a physical struggle with a suspect when another officer tased him.

All of that to say that, under the stress of sudden danger or attack, people will default to previous training almost unconsciously.

The Daunte Wright shooting is not the first time an officer has mistaken their gun for their Taser when under stress. I agree with you that there should be simulation training where a Taser is drawn from it's holster and used. Perhaps in the wake of this particular shooting, there will be a push for more of that sort of training.

I don't think most officers would mistake drawing the gun instead of the Taser, but I understand how it's possible to do that when under stress. A lot of research has gone into this phenomenon. A couple of very interesting books are On Combat and On Killing, by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman. Also, the Force Science Institute has done extensive research on this topic. I want you to read the article in this link.

Potter (The Murderous Cop) just turned on the Waterworks, and they paused the Trial.

Broke down during a brutal cross-examination by the Prosecution.
When they showed the moment of the shooting from the body-cam.

    2nd Big Display of Waterworks.

Actually, the police should stop using lasers, sprays, 'stun guns' and all this other crap, and use ONLY lethal weapons to enforce the law when perps, criminals, and other 'suspects' deliberately DISOBEY lawful commands to submit to arrest!

That way when these creeps get shot by the police, who are only trying to do their sworn DUTY, they won't get dragged into court and have their lives destroyed by hyperliberal prosecutors and judges!

No doubt, afterwards, the criminal 'community' would catch on real quick to the change and stop (STOP) resisting arrest.... :spin:

Minor correction: A mistake that killed a VIOLENT FELON ENGAGED IN A VIOLENT FELONY is still a JUSTIFIED homicide.

We just had a massacre via vehicle in Waukesha. That vehicle was a lethal weapon and the violent felon could have killed the incompetent woman cop.

If women are going to be cops, the standard should be that they are as strong and athletic as their partner. If they are not, they are liability and will default to weapons as their only method of offense when confronting a strong male perpetrator.

as per usual your understanding of the law is non-existent. She may well beat this as she still was within her rights to use deadly force, you will definitely not understand any of this.

I’d find her guilty of using non lethal force when she should have shot him. He could have gotten away and rammed a school bus of crippled children who’s parents were all lawyers. Then what?

I’m wait to see if it is “riots or peace”.

In Minnesota, a person can be convicted of first-degree manslaughter if they cause the death of another while also committing a misdemeanor — in this case, reckless handling of a firearm.
Second-degree manslaughter, by contrast, requires that prosecutors prove only that the defendant acted with "culpable negligence" as the defendant consciously took actions that created an "unreasonable risk" of causing death or great bodily harm.

    __________

2nd Degree - 4 Years (serve 32 months) seems fair.

Naw, she gets two years, serves one, out on parole, and that's the end of it. It's a pity that she's even been brought up on a charge considering this perp was trying to escape being arrested, but that's the way it is in a puke-worthy place like Minneapolis....

My guess is that you had a hell of a lot more confidence in your .357 'boot-gun' than you did in the 'taser-toy' you were required to carry on your belt.... I never knew a police officer who didn't have a backup firearm.. and good for them!

I doubt i she woukd get off that easy.

The Max Sentence for Man 2 would be 10 years.

With a clean record and no priors 48 Months (serve 32) seems fair.
