The chronic poor never made enough money by woking to fille bankruptcy

Many have been on the dole since dropping out of school and have avoided the debt trap by not having a credit rating to begin with

 

It is all about the excuses for the left.

I would be curious to know what % of the chronic poor became poor because of a catastrophic illness vs the % which are chronically poor due to their own laziness, poor choices, irresponsibility, etc. I would guess the latter vastly outnumber the former.

As far as lesser illnesses / medical bills, those shouldn't bankrupt anyone responsible enough to live within their means and/or have a little set aside in savings. Plus the little detail that responsible people would have health insurance..... But now I've said "responsible" twice in one paragraph, so I'm sure the lefties here are

 

Medical catastrophes cause huge financial loss. Filing for bankruptcy over an illness or accident shouldn't happen in the "World's Greatest Country"..

Bankruptcy or not, even who don't/file for bankruptcy are thrown into poverty.

Finding a job that offers good health benefits is a good place to start

But oftentimes that requires staying in school and not getiing busted of felonies

 

No, most Americans do not set aside 100 of thousands of dollars in case of a medical emergency.

Finding AFFORDABLE health care would be a better place to start.

You really think that the ONLY people who have suffered from huge medical bills were ALL high school drop outs and felons.....wouldn't that be a Really Stupid thing to think ?

 

In America since WWII the best health insurance was offered through employers

Not everyone was smart enough to accept less pay up front in exchange for better benefits later on when rhey really need them

Or to join insurance pools that cpuld provide the same protection

They both have exactly the same opportunity, yes. The poor kid could excel at the local public school and win a Harvard Scholarship, the rich kid could bomb out of her/his private school and end up on drugs. It's all down to the parenting - and good parenting is FREE.

You'll recall that academically selective public high school in NY (the subject of a thread) has something like 40+% of it's student body derived from impoverished families. They earned those places via application to education. Which is FREE.
