    Sorry. It's a term.

It means Operational Security. There are many things that fall under OPSEC to keep units, soldiers, contractors, politicians..etc, safe. For instance. Say I'm shipping to basic training. I am not supposed to go online and post my ship date as it is a violation of OPSEC. This is because terrorists or enemies could figure out that on that date, a training cycle for the army begins, and from there can gather intelligence.

Picture of me a few years back explaining something to Al Einstein at Madame Tussaud's.

A couple of friends from another forum and I on The Frying Pan...looking out into New York harbor. The Statue of Liberty actually can be seen (barely) in the background.

This is the picture I used to use as my avatar. Almost 10 years old...so I decided to deep six it in favor of the Tower.

On the beach in New Jersey looking out at the mighty Atlantic Ocean...21st century; planet Earth.

This was taken at a wedding late summer of this year. The 80 years are starting to show big time.

I've got a dozen of 'em...posing with as many wax figures as possible. The Tussaud museum is spectacular.

Thanks, but I am really seeing the aging now.

Gotta happen though. I went to a wake this week (and missed going to another)...and got to thinking about the fact that at one point or another, we're all gonna be the guest of honor at one of those things.

You don't look like a crazy person at all. lol
It's easier to post comments to someone once I've seen their face. To me their words now carry more weight.

You remind me of film producer, businessman and owner of football club Napoli, Aurelio de Laurentis. :)

    But looks can be deceiving!

That second picture shows me with two of the guys I met debating on the NY Times site (now Able2Know). We have a group who meet often in The Big Apple...as many as 8 or 10 of us. And we have been joined over the years by people from all over the US and from all over the world. Luckily, NYC is a hub...so whenever anyone comes in from Europe or Australia...or from one of the lesser states of the Union...we schedule a meet. We've done barrels of beer together...mostly at our favorite watering hole, The Frying Pan.

And you are correct. The conversations are different once you've seen a face...or met a person. A bit more civil. In fact, a hell of a lot more civil.

    - - - Updated - - -

Thanks, AS...but the truth is I am looking very aged these days.

****** JINTS really screwed up that game, didn't they?

    - - - Updated - - -

    I looked him up.

I guess there is some resemblance...and his net worth is $50,000,000 which is like mine except for the zeros.

That sounds like fun! It'd be cool if we could do something like that in Vegas where I live.

Over at the other forum (I do not post there any more)...we used to have a thread devoted to people who were visiting New York, Boston, or San Francisco...which were all key meet areas. They actually had one meet in London. Abuzz, the NY Times/Boston Globe forum was big...with large groups in all those areas...so it was easy to arrange a meet. Open Salon, another forum that has closed also had several meets in NY...with as many as thirty five or so people getting together.

Ya need concentration of people in one area in order to get things going.

I served one Captain on tdy in Germany who was a drunk. He was extremely indecisive. I learned from pilots that were officers the airfield commander was hanging on for dear life trying to make it to retirement. The pilots were a good bunch of army officers.

It was much different than infantry was.

I was the CC for two Captains. The first was from the South and with tan skin and blue eyes, it was next to impossible for me to know he was legally black. Working for him directly was a good memory. I left the Army early in 1964 and due to the internet, around 1990 managed to locate him. I called him on the phone and he was still delightful. He got promoted to Major and the next captain that took his place and I also got along great. For some reason, the XO loved to try to cause me grief.

Naturally I found ways to pay him back. He was the son in a wealthy family that lived in one of the great lakes state. What a dumb dumb young guy. I was older than he was. He did stupid things and yet graduated form one of the great lakes universities.

I recall this one time as I was walking form the HQ/HQ back to my office, some 2nd lt and i passed. I did not salute him so he stopped me as he returned to my area and i told him I never salute officers unless a Captain and above.
It was like I lit his fuse. The guy took my name and unit down and promised he was calling my CO.

Moments later I was back in my building and went to talk to my CO.

I told him I did not salute some 2nd Lt who took offense.

He laughed and told me not to worry. I heard no more. I was on that good of terms with my CO.

Back when I was in the Army (62-64) I don't recall terrorists being discussed.

I've recently cut off my hair and donated it to locks of love. It was halfway down my back and now is within army standards again. If I have a pic taken that is representative that i like I will post.
