I've been saying the VERY OPPOSITE since the beginning and almost having shouting matches with the people who say that masks don't protect the wearer, including, I've posted MULTIPLE TIMES a meta-analysis with 29 studies showing that they do protect the wearer, and I said I blame Fauci for his lie regarding this, and never forgave him for it, dammit!!! Either you have a really BIG reading comprehension problem or you're mixing me up with someone else, because there isn't any poster here on Political Forum that is a bigger defender of masks TO PROTECT THE WEARER than the one known as CenterField.

The only thing I've said that might remotely be understood as such is that cloth masks are much less effective to protect the wearer than ASTM Level 3 surgical grade facemasks enhanced with a sealing-promoting device like the 3-rubber band technique, or N95 or higher-grade respirators. But still, even cloth masks protect some.

Bandanas and neck gaiters though, are minimally protective if at all.

About the CoronaVac I wouldn't trust the Chinese but I do trust the Brazilians with whom I worked in the past (and we remain in touch), and they confirm the Chinese data as they were able to replicate the findings on site.

 

For protection I would recommend a faceshield.
Have that kisser sock on and a faceshield and be anal about your hygiene protocol and be extremely careful in your social live.

You do that you have a very good chance not to catch the virus.

We are actually more careful than you Europeans since the size of your Pharmacopeia is larger than ours, that is, there are many drugs that have achieved approval in Europe but did not earn approval in the United States. Sure, face shields help, but do remember that they protect less against aerosol, than medical-grade goggles with a seal, given that face shields are open to the outside air. They do add some help in avoiding droplets hitting the masks. Me, I often have an N95 respirator + medical-grade goggles + a face shield on top of overything.

I tried to get medical grade goggles and other equipment of that grade for my employees. You just can not get them. Even after 6 month.
The suppliers will decline you, because you are a new customer.
I have struggled through it since March. You order and than 2 days later you get the e-mail, declined.
Same for protecting clothing. We fabricate them out of Tyvenec. We were barely able to get enough vinyl gloves, nearly ran out of them.
When we do customer laundry, we are at a very high risk.
I take it more than serious. I am the BOSS, the buck stops with me, no matter what.
It has been a serious burden to me, my employees and my customers are my responsibility and it is seriously dragging on me
