When I am in the states (quite regularly), I'm not afraid of "Johnny Jihad". Neither is anyone in my family, or my group of friends. In fact, there's a name for people who aren't deathly afraid of being one of the few dozen people per year to die from Muslim terrorism - they're called "not paranoid morons", because the likelihood of dying due to a terrorist attack in the US over the last 15 years is pretty much 0.

 

You are lavish with your pejorative... here is my retort to you sir/Lady... your position is such as one could definitely state that you are not frightened by <Johny Jihad> as long as your ox has not yet been gored... I am sure this feeling of yours will change when it does... I have seen things on TV (re Boston) that were heart wrenching a man on a wheelchair led to the ambulance with his two legs blown off.

Yes, the flying limbs and people jumping off of buildings are horrifying, visceral human tragedies. But it's important to see it with perspective. I'm aware that pointing out how stupid and irrational a fear is won't make it go away (hell, I saw some dudes in robes and unkempt hair and beards in my college the other day and I felt kinda spooked myself), but what you can do is change how you act in the aftermath - take that instant of fear, and remind yourself, "Wait, hang on, I'm being a bigoted idiot, my odds of dying in a terrorist attack over the last 10 years has been ridiculously low, far lower than my odds of being killed by a fire I accidentally set in my own home!" And then try to remember that believing in Islam does not make someone less of a person, or automatically transform them into a psychopath.

 

I will say that all Muslims are not Terrorists, but ALL TERROR acts were committed by MUSLIMS.

Well, I cited the number of deaths by terrorism from what I would assume you would consider a legitimate website. My source for the number of deaths is the CDC and even just googling 2,468,435 would give you that. I could not track down the original source on number of deaths by falling out of chairs; the original number comes from a cracked.com article so probably not the best idea. So let's just choose any one of the hundreds of things that have killed more Americans over the past 15 years than Terrorism. Like, say, dog bites, auto-erotic asphyxiation, home fires and electrocutions...

Now if you want to talk about "Terror attacks" in war zones like Iraq or Afghanistan, then by all means, sure, I'll believe in an instant that our boys should be jumpy - it's a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) war zone, and the enemy could very well be anyone, because we're an invading force in a hostile country full of people who (*)(*)(*)(*)ing hate our guts.
