    I wouldn’t be here if I was.

As a joke I’ll add: Hope I’m not the only ‘sensible’ Republican here. ;)

Now I think I get it: I’m supposed to go along with Jan6th because the election was stolen and we had to do something in effort to take back our nation.

The thing is that we can’t do stuff like that without solid proof that is recognized common American citizens.

If I’m understanding correctly from reading this thread: It was a Republican judge who gave the Proud Boys leader a harsh sentence. I’ll suggest the idea that he did so because Jan 6th was the most tactless and idiotic thigh to do and will forever taint Trump supporters.

The dude is latino. But true, non white Americans systematically get harsher punishments. It's part of the white privilege theme.

And it doesn't matter he wasn't at the riot. He wasn't convicted of planning the attack on the Capitol. And they proved that. They hacked his encrypted messages he send to other proud boys, showing they have a plan that they even gave the title "1776 returns" to storm governmental buildings with a large crowd. And he got ratted out by other proud boys.

Nothing like a back stabber. lol

For leaving the Democrat plantation. The establishment does not respond kindly to minorities that do not follow their narrative. It is a warning to Black people that they are allowed to have one ideology and if they dare to have a different one, the consequences could be catastrophic. This is especially true for Black leaders who have demonstrated strong leadership skills and have an ardent following.

If only he had done a simple murder, he would be out in about 15 years. He did the unthinkable and questioned the narrative, that will be 22 years.

how am I a MAGA sycophants for pointing out that this guy was given far more time than people whose freedom presents a clear and present danger to the public? I get that there is a ton of people who have an almost psychotic hatred of Trump-a hatred they cannot rationally explaining terms of actual harm they have suffered from Trump being president

Are you questioning the jury's decision?

    Did you attend the trial?

    No, of course.

Your opinion is only based on your political bias.

But you know, in your gut, that Tarrio can't be guilty.

It's about pretending that the jury is full of leftism, that the judge (appointed by Trump) has become a RINO and that the whole justice system is corrupt.

    There Tarrio becomes innocent....

The issue isn't the jury's decision, it's about the judge's decision.

The law can be inherently unfair due to the phenomena of "charge stacking", which can turn one single crime into dozens of crimes under the law.

People can also be easily convicted of additional specific crimes they should not be convicted of, basically shoehorn the circumstances to fit the wording of the law.
How "the law" works isn't always "black & white", it can be open to a great deal of interpretation.

Also, sometimes if a person gets rightfully convicted of one thing, the judge can use that as an excuse to punish them for other things that they were not convicted of, or which are not even illegal under the law. The law often leaves a great deal of discretion up to the judge when it comes to sentencing.

Is the defendant a danger to society?
is the defendant likely to re-offend

the answer to both is a clear NO
    this sentence is extremely disproportionate

You're intelligent enough to understand that "being a Proud Boy" is not a crime?
Nor should it be. Just like being a member of Black Lives Matter or Anti-Fa is not a crime.

It’s not. Didn’t help him at all though and it’s his own fault he’s in jail.

I agree it is his fault he is currently in jail. But he does NOT deserve to spend anywhere near this long in prison.

It's funny how Trump derangement can start making Democrats talk and think like punitive harsh Southern-style conservatives of older times.

He hatched a plot to overthrow the democratically elected government.

    He's a seditionist.

But, I understand that in the fantasy world you live in, since he's a MAGA, he's a patriot.

that's hyperbolic. there was no plot to overthrow anything. I never said he was a patriot. I merely said-having been part of prosecution teams dealing with VIOLENT FELONS including a guy who blew off a girl's left breast with a shotgun-the sentence was idiotically disproportionate. IN the insane hatred of Trump world, these people are more dangerous than violent robbers who shoot people

Torrio was found guilty of seditionist conspiracy.

This is the very definition of a plot to overthrow the government.

He and his gang of degenerates staged an operation to storm the capitol, prevent the certification of the vote to keep Trump in power.

You're still not saying exactly what he did.

All you have is manipulations and characterizations.
